Toulon 3 - 0 Northampton.

And OH MY GOD did I just see Ben Foden playing? O_O

What's the story with the bloke on the mic at the start of the match?

Sir Speedy

I think it's like a tournament opening ceremony.
Or something. >_>
Toulon 3 - 7 Northampton - try Lamont.

An Tarbh

That was all too easy for Saints there with that try.

Foden seemed to be doing his best to run away from the support there, all too easy so far.

Sir Speedy

Wups, looks like this thread backfired. >.>

Sir Speedy

Well... 30 - 3 to Northampton. Toulon will come back. Mark my words...

An Tarbh

was thinking just that, not a bad first touch to get.

Currently Toulon 3-30 Saints

Saints playing lovely stuff, their backrow is killing Toulon.

Toulon's implosion at the lineout is doing their cause any good either.

Sir Speedy
09-10-08, 08:35 PM

An Tarbh

MunsterMan

No. Toulon's second string it seems.

He's only been pinged twice by the ref, still 30 minutes left though.

Dammit, if Toulon get through this match without even a punch being thrown I will be vastly disappointed.

Maybe the self righteous tutting and oh-so-British frowns have dampened the occasion...

Sir Speedy

56 - 3.

 Maybe if I jinx Clermont like this on Saturday...

Oh ho hoo! Emphatic.

I wonder how damaged Toulon were by withdrawing some of their stars though?

Sir Speedy

To answer the thread title: none.

French clubs usually don't give a f*** about the European Challenge Cup. (except Clermont two years ago)

That's sad.

Monpellier allegedly have a strong team out tomorrow.

Prestwick

Indeed, all eyes seem to be on Montpellier, Bayonne and Mont de Marsan...

That said, they tend to not care at the business end of the ECC when the Top 14 gets tight... Look at Brive last year for example; Stormed the group then got thumped by Newcastle.

The stuff a the beginning of the game is the Pilou Pilou, a sort of pre match haka-like cry.

About the game to put it simple: if Toulon could withdraw from the comp they would. Their only goal this season is to be safely in T14 next year. That's why they put a light line up.

Montpellier is another story, they've been good so far this year, they'll want to impress.
