View Full Version : My Franchise just got ruined

CeeJay

I just finished the season, and heaps of guys retired, this left me short of players, but it wont let me sign any new ones.

My aailable salary this year is $81,847

My available salary next year is $678,400

If i make an offer to guy thats already on my team its fine, but if i make an offer to anyone else it says that it will exceed my salary cap, this is the very first day of the season and im screwed, and im gutted because my franchise is ruined and i had nothing to do with it.

Just another finger in the direction of very poor product testing.

i JUST DONT GET IT, the game even advised me to go and sign some unsigned players, BUT i can only use this years salary, which is never more than 81,847 (in this particular year) and thats not enough to sign anyone. What i dont get, is ive got about 5 million in profits sitting there doing nothing, and i cant use it, even when im within the salary cap. It said that my sponsorship deal would b paid monthly, but i cant eve use that.

You'll have to go down to the bottom of 'unsigned players' and try to find some ****ty made-up players who will play for 40,000. If they won't sign for a year, sign them for 3 and then buy out their contract next year as you have plenty money to do this.

The guy with the lowest asking price is 93,000 so im screwed.

How many players do you have in your current squad?

CeeJay
07-01-06, 10:00 PM
17, but i hav found a way around (sort of) what ive done is: I bought all my big name players out of there contacts and signed a whole bunch of nobodys from other teams for next year. I then had to simulate the entire year and reload in the event of injuries or suspensions, as it resulted in being sacked otherwise. After this, my big players ae gone, but i hav plenty of chumps (21 in the squad now) so my franchise isnt completely ruined, just F**ked up, and a whole year wasted. The reason i simmed the year was because it was too frustrating playing a game and then getting an injury in the last 2 mins(if it wasnt obvious why i had to sim the season)

So im back in business with some serious rebuilding to do.

I'm gonna be in a similar situation to you next year. 10 of my players contractrs were ending so I resigned them not knowing that their wages had gone up. Now I only have 40,000 left under the cap http://www.therugbyforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif Why can I not get their wives to work at JJB and then I'd pay the players nothing?

Your ridiculous mate, I admit that Rugby League 2 has some flaws but how is players retiring and having to buy rookies a sign of poor product testing. Would you rather a franchise of no rookies coming through the ranks and no players retiring?

If that happened, I'm almost certain that you'd say that franchise mode doesn't have enough depth.

I honestly can't believe that panyone would call that a bug! That's really sad mate! http://www.therugbyforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif

I won the final in my first year!! yehaaaaa! http://www.therugbyforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

the key is d (excuse the lame rhyme).

won final 19-0

I have got rid of the ****e and brought in Marshall and Ty Williams!! Team is looking solid now!!

Only I am a little bored with it and need a break if I am ever to enjoy it again....has some annoying aspects as pointed out...but I did get etter and better at getting more out of it....with one or two long rangers... (friggin hard to do eh!!)

Anyway, I guess that is neither helpful nor relevant.....but, there ya have it.

to knowsley the whole game is bugged so if you spend to much in your franchise it is of course the games fault or false advertsing. there is a salary cap so even if you have 5 million you cannot use all of it. having the same salaray cap as they do in real life sounds realistic not a bug to me.

the whole salary thing is a bit werid but I think this is how it works

the avaiable this year can only be used to sign unsigned players

they next year salary is used for current players in your squad on exsisting contracts or ones that are expiring that year

after the anti-tampering deadline passes it gets a bit messy and I think you can use next years salary to buy players.

I would hardly call it a bug though just realistic. poor product testing I don't think so just realistic and not arcade. perhaps some people shouldn't play franchise if it is too realistic for their liking.

I've been viewing these forums for a while now, I'm just sick of people bagging out Sidhe when they have done a good job, just not perfect. RC2006 is the same.

And if you didn't mean that, would you mind explaining to me what you did mean?

Thats the problem you see, SIDHE havn't done that good a job, especially after the promising start they had by producing rugby league 1..................yes rugby league 2 has more options, better player graphics etc but match gameplay wise has made equal steps forwards and backwards.

Only fairly hard core rugby league lovers have embraced the game (and not all of those either), whilst the "borderline" sports video game lover has not.

If SIDHE want to truly expand, and improve, the game in possible future versions they need to gather the support of more then a few fanatical rugby league supporters willing to overlook major gameplay flaws - this is what they have failed to achieve with RL2.

rl 2 without doubt missed the mark and is only saved really with franchise mode. I don't think it has gone backwards as far as some say and imo it has actually taken rugby gaming forward with online play and a proper franchise mode.

Franchise mode is incredibly flawed. When I started 2 franchises and picked up 2 5 week injuries in training before even playing a game I knew it was downhill from there.

Its like the rest of the game, poor.

Dont try push onto me that I only like arcade games and this is a simulation and thats why I dont like it. I have no problem with simulations.

very vaguely about that. but the rest of it has nothing to do with you. all he is really saying is ignore esoj and then he insults me.

and if i guess if there are iq pre-requisites that rules ripper out of the discussion as well let alone being a mod
fair enough.

no one's picking on anyone kaftka...

unless you speak of me everywhere else in the forum. You'd have a case there.

I was referring to the fact that for the last wee while certain members (including myself at times) have been being pricks (out of jest, and too far sometimes) to other certain members (not naming names) one at a time (don't you hate it when people put too many brackets inside their sentences?) for very exaggerated reasons [is this better? Still bracketed I know but...] that have gone out of hand each time [...different].

Why would you ignore esoj now? He just admitted that Rl2 missed the mark.

you must have really bad luck knowsley then although I too did get injuries in my first few games I changed the training schedule and then didn't get any for ages. and I wasn't trying imply you only liked certian games those were your own words. I just pointed out that the salary cap in the game was realistic and that some people maybe shouldn't play that mode as it is too complex for them.

I would hardly call posting the same image twice is eric did as being picked on. ripper is an idiot full stop everyone knows this and los lover is los lover. knowsley is a good guy even if we disagree on some things.

Actually, if you looked carefully you'll see that they are two different images of the same subject...
But I guess I can't blame ya really... You can't even spell your own name.

Nah, I was just joking around, and then Los brought it up, I explained it to him, and now this.

....This.

Hmmmm.....

esoj - just to let you know that on your post you accidently wrote los lover twice e.g. = 'los lover is los lover'

Please edit to read "los lover is way cool" as was almost certainly originally intended

http://www.therugbyforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

anyway....

Eric is funny and the moe thing is funny too......IMO. He is being silly...not nasty. You can't pidgeon-hole eric, as I have learned to my own shame.

it is funny but come on marks off for creativty. he used the same material twice. if was a true comedy genuis he would have used something else in the second picture instead of moe. first time it was funny second time it was lame.

and no I did not make a mistake in that post I typed it that way on purpose.

the point was that I got a reply back from you ripper. as I knew you would reply. the post wasn't meant to be tough at all. the only one that thinks they can be tough on the internet is you. there are also far more worse posts than mine on this forum. eveyone makes typos it is the internet after all. your forum experince will be much more enjoyed if you chilled out a bit and didn't act like an idiot almost everytime you post. also posting anonymously does not make you cool either

anyway on topic just had hohaia get a pulled hamstring for 2 weeks just before the grand final. luckily it wasn't too bad though and he was able to be back for the grand final. was my first injury in a long time. I am into 2008 and still have a large part of the warriors starting squad still there with the additions of harris thaiday and mapp. it is prices last season wiki retired at the end of the 2007 season.

I don't either and I can get your humour kaftka which is often beyond most people's level on this board.

ripper I thought you were smart you have a really high iq. you've been anomyomous for a few months now so I think you were doing it on purpose. and nice try at attempting to post how you think i do but not even my posts are that bad. take a chill pill and if you want be a spelling nazi etc read chrio's posts. it still baffles me that you are still a mod with the way you act on this forum. I wasn't expecting you to ignore the post that is way beyond your level of maturiy to do something like that. You will notice that I did not reply straight away to your's though.

And if you wondering how I remained a mod, ask the admins, it's hardly like I call the shots around here.
