Note: This is not my work (aled2912). I take no credit. Congrats to everyone who is helping however. Looks like you've done an incredible job so far.

PLEASE NOTE: THESE UPDATES ARE FOR THE PAL PS3 VERSION OF RUGBY WORLD CUP 2011.

(THEY WILL NOT WORK ON US PSN STORE DOWNLOAD EDITIONS, SORRY).

Here is the latest update (V4.00) of the roster update work going on here. It covers numerous changes and additions, bear in mind that due to likenesses not being suitable for everyone, I've done the best I can. I hope this helps. :)

http://www.mediafire.com/?jxuj5cy79l51tjy (http://www.mediafire.com/?pbntnebivlt7qbz)

How do you install this....(I'm glad you asked that).

1. First click the link and download the .rar file.
2. Extract the file into a folder on your PC.
3. Take the 'SAVEDATA' folder and place it into another folder you must create called 'PS3'.
4. Place the 'PS3' folder and all of the new contents ('SAVEDATA' etc) onto a flash drive.
5. Put the Flash Drive into your PS3.
6. Look for the roster file under the PS3 Saved Game Data area on your PS3.
7. Copy it onto your PS3.
8. Load up RWC 2011. Load the new roster file using the game.
9. You should be all done. :)

I'm doing it now with New Zealand and Australia, will need help on the other countries.

Wondering if anyone is interested? I'm adjusting player height and weight in accordance to their wikipedia stats also.

I've been trying to do that myself. Gone through only about 4 New Zealand players so far. It's harder than it looks as some of the players need to have all their stats completely altered from other positions. I mean there's no way you can call either of the existing Flyhalfs Daniel Carter.

You can hardly see their faces most of the time, so you sort of need to put them into goal kicker position and then score a try to get a bit of a look. I found that the nearest to looking a bit like Carter for example was the 12 Larry Hunt. I just needed to change height, weight, positions and every other stat to what the guy at 10 (Harper I think) had.

Maybe someone could post up the default players by name and number throughout the squad and reserves?

New Zealand First XV:
1. Taylor Rich - PR - 92 (Either Brad Thorn or Keiran Read - my mate thinks slightly nearer Keiran Read)
2. William Fortuin - HK - 90 (Bald Maori player, probably nearest to Keven Mealamu)
3. Lockwood Hawkins - PR - 91 (Bald Maori player, not sure who to name)
4. Aidan Nash - SR - 89 (Maybe Jarrad Hoeata - nearest looking to that face I can think of)
5. Haki Rata - SR - 89 (Haven't found anyone in the squad who looks more like Mils Muliaina, though this guy looks younger)
6. John Dawson - FL/N8 - 91 (Looks near enough to Anthony Boric)
7. Aata Morgan - FL - 95
8. Noah Carleton -N8/FL - 94 (Actually looks a touch more like Richie McCaw with headgear on than Aata Morgan)
9. Kaelan East - SH - 92 (Maybe Andy Ellis)
10. Ethan Harper - FH/CH/FB - 96 (Not sure who on earth we can name this guy, he looks slightly like a blonde haired Luke MacAlister)
11. Heika Delamare - WG - 91 (Looks like a bald white guy, not sure who'd qualify, maybe changing his body type (Height/Weight) to being more like whichever of the Franks is Bald?)

It's so annoying we can't change any of their faces in anyway, it's really a game of nearest appropriate player.

Because some of these guys are in the wrong position and are the wrong height/weight, it just means that those things need changed too.

Dunno if we can, but I'll be giving it a try when we come up with a finished squads product for the top 2 teams.

EDIT:

Just added some the skill point stats for two default players into the original post, so that we might be able to appropriate the intended number of points per player into our squads, when we change players around.

Default fullback is Ma'aa Nonu .. or closest to it as he's the only one with dread locks.

Wow, he's a lame looking Nonu option, so that's even including the guys outside the 22 in the reserves 23-30?

I thought Nash was the big blonde guy in the forwards? As that's the one I thought Hoeata was one of the only options for.

Apologies your right .. its the deault No 5 Lock not number 4. Number 4 has tanned skin with blondish hair .. kinda like a lame Ali Williams. Only one dark skinned prop .. thats John Afoa. The backup fly half looks like Sitiveni Sivivatu as he's the only dark skiined back.

I like the work going on here... would it be any use to have a screen capture of the team added up here for appearance & likenesses?

I could throw a quick match together, 1 with the first XV against the second XV, go to a replay and then pause to see if I could grab all appearances from 1 match?

Let me know if it would be any use, cheers.

that would be great, so instead of saying "one of the reserve wingers looks like nonu" we can look at the pictures and compare to real life examples
great thinking

Yes, it does work! I just had to go to load rosters for it to work. Now hopefully the autosave will keep it there by default. I'll check on that and whether it hinders trophies now.

5 mins later... Yes it still works with trophies as long as it's just the roster file and the auto save meant that once loaded and played with once it saved it in place as the main roster on my profile.

Definitely would be of huge use. Please do so if you can. Most of the views appear to be of the back of the players though due to poor likenesses in places. :(

It's not that easy. Because you change the name of number 10 to Dan Carter for example, you might just be changing one of the guys who looks the least like Carter to that name. For example the guy who looks nearest to Carter is number 12, Larry Hunt.

I just changed the names for now - does me fine in the meantime (though looking forward to that screen capture!). It is pretty funny though, seeing Guildford as some old bald guy sprinting down the line, or Woodcock as the darkest maori/islander guy on the team, hahaha. I changed their height and weight too, accordingly. Just use the official All Blacks site for the team stats. Wish you could edit appearance of the team players..

Having some real trouble with who to change the hooker Luke Smith too. He's a whitish looking guy with dark brown hair the length (almost) of Nonu. I'm thinking of making him Israel Dagg through sheer lack of choice.

Even if there was a fringe player who never quite made the squad I wouldn't mind using that if someone can think of someone. They would end up in numbers 23-30, but at least they'd look a bit more authentic. I've done this with some of the white baldies in the NZ side. One's Ben Franks (did make the side), the other is Jason Rutledge, (didn't make it, but better that than someone who matches in no way whatsoever).

For E.Harper, how about using him as Colin Slade? Not sure what stats to use for him, the back up fly-halfs ones (who you said would be a good Sivivatu) I'm guessing would be the easiest.
All I've done so far is change Larry Hunt to Dan Carter, the no.3 to John Afoa (is he actually in the ABs squad?), the no.2 to Kevin Mealamu, A.Morgan to Richie McCaw and the back up 9 to Piri Weepu.

When you're done dyou mind typing them up for us Xbox users :p no worries if it's too much of a pain

When mines done it might be a little controversial, as I've rated likeness accuracy higher than who's in the final cut of the RWC squad, because of this a few player miss out because theres no likeness! There's a huge number of white guys with brown hair and head gear (it's a bit what I'm like when I play for real :p ), and 3 bald white guys in the side. Two blonde fellas that I'm still struggling to stick names to! Aata Morgan and Morgan Steward. I already have a guy assigned for Jimmy Cowan (Colin Quigley), so I'm going to have to make them people who played Super 15 in NZ maybe and played well enough. It's holding me up to be honest. If skin colour wasn't changable, but even hair colour alone was changable it be great, dammit!

By the way Duncan Neale will be Colin Slade, Ethan Harper looks like only one guy (who's not blonde like Harper incidentally) - Luke MacAlister, even though he's not in the squad. Oh well if people use my roster, they don't have to put him in their 22. :)

Well yeah seeing as I've had to change players into different positions from what they were I've had to alter stats. It's been pretty good so far.

My starting team (from 6 up) is: (bear with me there'll be a proper fullback at some point soon and other things will change - probably Sivi on the left wing as part of it).

6. Thomson 86
7. McCaw 95
8. Read 90
9. Cowan 87
10. Carter 96
11. Guildford 84
12. Williams 88
13. Smith 85
14. Jane 86
15. Slade (playing in his secondary position - rates about same in first) 86

Chaps,

Screen capture not going great... replays are very limited and do not get close enough to the players to really identify them - there is one camera angle (side cam, close to the near touch) that gets the closest that I can see but it is still some distance out and generally only the side profile.

On top of that, I'm still tweaking the best settings on the Roxio Game Capture unit and so far the detail I am getting off the game is not great when it is a side cam angle. Alot of detail is lost and any images I have got pretty much amount to as vague a picture as if I just described them to you in writing... not impressed!

I did try something late last night and although its going to cause a lot more time to do, will probably get the best reward - full head shots are always displayed when playing a goalkick shootout, so I might play 3 of those NZ v NZ (5 kickers x 3 will get me all the players having a go) and capture it. It means then screen grabbing every face and building a composite image in Paintshop Pro to then post up here.

Leave it with me, its still a work in progress...

Aussie squad is pretty bang on ... only major player that was difficult to find a skin for was Will Genia.

any chance you could give us info one who you used for each player to make it easier for the guys on ps3 to fix australia too?

Didnt keep a record unfortunately ... What I did was take photos of players faces in the place kick mode then matched them off against the wallaby profiles on the ARU site. I've adjusted all height and weight .. so I can't trace back who's who now.

Edit: Just remebered a few ... There's only one dark skinned back .. can't remember default name .. but he's supposed to be Kurtly Beale.

Default 10 is James O'Connor and I think Default 15 is actually Quade Cooper.

Yeah it's just like that when your piecing together your side. I'm pretty sure I'm pretty close to as goo as you'll get for an NZ team. There's 2-3 players that are just not applicable to anyone in the RWC squad really, but I'll find the nearest looking NZ players people can use. I'm sure people can slam them back into their 23-30 part of the squad if they don't like it/

Looks like HB made the roster before getting the licenses. I have found in the save game file, the player details of Quade Cooper, Sonny Bill etc. By using HEX editor I am replacing the current squade players with the one's already made.
If it is a success I will look into maybe designing a editor.

For the games working hard on this; are you also going to upload the appropriate stats for each player as well as special abilities? Because obviously if a prop for example looks like Dan Carter, then we have a first five that plays like a prop, haha. Or do you just take note of the stats before switching the players around and then adjust them later,...and I thought just going through and changing the names and physical stats was tedious, hahaha.

Also; I can reset my changes back to the games defaults right? Will just make it easy when you guys put the info up!

The folder and it's contents will need to be put into another folder called: PS3 . Once that is done add it to your flash drive and put it into your PS3. Then copy the savedata into the PS3 save data area.

Once done, you'll have to load the roster in the game.

Remember, this is a incomplete New Zealand roster. It has about 25 proper players in it. It does have one non-test S15 player in it (Jason Rutledge), mostly because I started to run out of options for bald white guys in the real New Zealand side. I'll sort out the rest of the squad in the next day or so, then move onto Australia.

You'll note some of the player ratings are a bit high, but that was mostly to keep New Zealand at the 91 overall ranking they already had when I changed all the stats as part of moving players around.

The New Zealand side should be pretty challenging to play against.

Also, some of you may note that Wales are up 1 point overall, I think this is right. I am no Wales fan, but this came about through me noticing that their rucking stats were ridiculously low. So I made a subtle change and raised their rucking and consistency stats by 5 each across the starting line-up, I'm thinking about doing it for the other 15 too (which won't affect the rating or make it higher overall).

It hasn't made a huge change, but just means that they don't quite have the mistake rate they did (many of them were complete butterfingers) and can win a slightly better percentage of ruck ball against the likes of Ireland, England and France.

I tested it over 6 games with 3 different people (switching who had Wales) and I still found Wales weren't winning a whole heck of a lot of ball against those teams, but it was better. It is a subtle change.......and I'm not a Welsh fan, I like Ireland more meself, so it's not out of any biases.

Sure would be. I guess we'll have to wait and see. If it works I wonder if it'll be names or accessible likenesses also. Looking at the way the licensed teams are made, I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't included though.

May have hired it? Thanks aled, still have to sort out a few remaining names, but by and large they are as near as I could get the likenesses from the faces available. It was really a jumble of faces and playing positions, but hope this is at least a lot better.

I honestly think with so few teams in the game, the balancing of their abilities is important and I think I've done almost as well as could be with the AB's so far. I wanted a few more players in the 85-88 range, but that lowered the overall team to below 91, which is where the NZ side is supposed to be rated. I think they'll provide a good challenge.

Ali Williams - There's no-one who really looks like him, so basically got a white player with head gear, I'm looking at my notes here and I believe it was Winston Jones. Used Ali's height/weight stats, changed position and then stats to that of the starting lock with a few minor alterations.

Sonny Bill Williams was a bit easier, there's a lock called Haki Rata and used the stats of the existing centres (plus Sonny Bills height/weight), but bolstered the strength and passing (for offloads) a bit whilst giving him the tackle breaker ability.

Zac Guildford was a harder one, there's no-one really like him, used Tau Ma'afu (but he looks much more suitable for Richard Kahui if anyone prefers to make a few subtle changes - easy to change a wing to a Centre/Wing). It's often a trade-off of having enough players in the right categories - there are a lot of suitable guys for Centre players, but not so many for Wings.

I think artistic license can be used here. It's a video game. Also, the images aren't up yet, but here's the whole official RWC squad lists via irb.com. The images would be up at some point i'm sure, and you can yet a good look at all the real players and match them on one place. I may open up an editing thread at some point, for other teams.

I've downloaded the roster and love it, finally allows me the chance to play with new zealand and i eagerly await future versions. Thanks mate, it's not perfect, but I think it's a least a pretty decent re-shuffle. Yeah edited 2 of them, but am at a real loss as to who to make these last two blone players. 7) Aata Morgan and 14) Morgan Steward from Raziels pic a page back.

I'm thinking about these things with those two.

1) Turning Morgan Steward into Adam Thompson, the reason I chose the player I did was that he had a big puffy hairstyle, reminiscent of what Adam did in many of his early tests (sure the colours a bit too dark but it still kinda matches up a bit), but looking at how he was on Saturday night, it looks like he's dyed that dark ginger hair he had slightly closer to blonde recently and with Stewards hair being that mid-length blonde it might be a good idea. The only problem is though, who then do I make the white guy with, a puffy brown semi-afro?

2) Aata Morgan, do I just make him a real fringe player who never made it like Daniel Braid? Or just go for a classic player like John Kirwan or Jeff Wilson? I'm thinking Braid.

Hey Frans, are you developing a editor with woosah? Will this include player face mods?

Would be awesome if there was a patch for the jerseys of the unlicensed teams! If only...

I've updated player names & stats for the 22s for NZ, Austrailia, Samoa, Tonga and Fiji now, and then made the likes of Jaques Burger, James Arlidge and Marius Tinku for other nations. On the whole, I've just selected players that look slightly like the real-life ones, without putting too much effort in, although that said, Kurtley Beale is white in my copy of the game.

You have extracted the rar and put it into a folder labelled 'PS3' (must be caps there)?

Do you make the PS3 folder yourself.

Alrighty,

So after taking the pics of all NZ players - here's my take on a real to life squad, who to edit and why I thought so...

1183

Big Changes:

1. Corey Flynn dropped as 3rd choice hooker with Hikawera Elliot replacing him (I've seen some blonde highlights in his hair... its one of the poorest fits, but he's 3rd choice so will probably never be seen on the pitch)
2. Colin Slade dropped as backup flyhalf with Aaron Cruden replacing him (Cruden with the shaved head hairstyle here (http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=aaron+cruden&um=1&hl=en&biw=1280&bih=879&tbm=isch&tbnid=KmxQH4SETBGz5M:&imgrefurl=http://www.foxsports.com.au/rugby/super-rugby/super-rugby-club-chiefs-confirm-hurricanes-five-eighth-aaron-cruden-will-join-the-club-from-2012/story-e6frf4qu-1226094575316&docid=441Z9Ou1Q-ETLM&w=640&h=360&ei=Cu9cTtjQMseb8QOhy4zTAw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=779&vpy=599&dur=1484&hovh=168&hovw=300&tx=152&ty=72&page=1&tbnh=137&tbnw=206&start=0&ndsp=32&ved=1t:429,r:30,s:0)... decent fit)
3. John Afoa dropped as backup prop and Neemu Tialata replaces him (best hair style and skin colour fit but could still be made into Afoa, as from gameplay angle, it would be hard to tell the difference)
4. Andy Ellis dropped as 3rd choice scrumhalf with Tim Donnelly brought in as a further Second Row option (done purely to match a good All Black player who wears a scrumcap with my final unused scrumcap head)
5. Richard Kahui dropped as backup centre and replaced by Rene Ranger (I've gone for the frizzy 'fro style look that Ranger has sported here (http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=rene+ranger&um=1&hl=en&biw=1280&bih=879&tbm=isch&tbnid=RaKwNSoTN1Tp0M:&imgrefurl=http://www.sudrugby.com/2011/04/les-shows-rene-ranger-et-quade-cooper/&docid=Nt3vM-ucWrRpxM&w=150&h=150&ei=-vFcTpH4F8-58gPArr2_Aw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=841&vpy=504&dur=3732&hovh=120&hovw=120&tx=102&ty=71&page=4&tbnh=120&tbnw=120&start=76&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:8,s:76), not a perfect skin match, but its reasonable)

Minor Changes:

*** Tony Woodcock sporting his more recent shaved tight haircut, see here (http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=tony+woodcock+march+2011&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1280&bih=879&tbm=isch&tbnid=XV5swDMg0xvQpM:&imgrefurl=http://bleacherreport.com/gallery/Auckland%2BBlues%2BTraining%2BSession&docid=4likt-ny6mdEeM&w=371&h=500&ei=Q-1cTouYCJDA8QPC0IjTAw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=439&vpy=489&dur=1282&hovh=261&hovw=193&tx=78&ty=159&page=2&tbnh=168&tbnw=158&start=32&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:16,s:32)
*** Richie McCaw back to wearing a scrumcap (so poor a choice with normal brown/black hairstyles... I decided that if a player was at least semi-known for wearing a scrumcap, the abundance of options in the fake NZ squad means I had to get as good a fit as possible, even if not their current look)
*** Cory Jane sporting a dyed blonde look as seen here (http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=cory+jane&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1280&bih=879&tbm=isch&tbnid=QwfW6oEoInA3tM:&imgrefurl=http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/2423164/Welsh-club-chases-Cory-Jane&docid=jihs8eMnpLOkTM&w=238&h=286&ei=NO5cTvrPFc2u8QOe_KS2Aw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=605&vpy=318&dur=2861&hovh=228&hovw=190&tx=77&ty=147&page=1&tbnh=162&tbnw=161&start=0&ndsp=22&ved=1t:429,r:8,s:0)
*** Piri Weepu, this is the one that sits worst with me, he has had long hair in the past and he isn't the darkest of skin colours, so I'm afraid he has ended up white with long black hair... if you kinda squint your eyes and see here (http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=aaron+cruden&um=1&hl=en&biw=1280&bih=879&tbm=isch&tbnid=-C2jX1jrV3BV6M:&imgrefurl=http://news.ph.msn.com/sports/article.aspx%3Fcp-documentid%3D5020246&docid=MMtJHgCHLCxUfM&w=245&h=170&ei=Cu9cTtjQMseb8QOhy4zTAw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=470&vpy=519&dur=1326&hovh=136&hovw=196&tx=84&ty=75&page=5&tbnh=136&tbnw=196&start=96&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:96)
*** Victor Vito has been given a scrumcap (again due to their surplus in the squad and his wearing of them on occasion - its too light a skin colour, he's better suited to using the model for #25 S. Power, but as there are other darker skinned players closer to the first XV then him e.g. Toeava, I opted to give them the preferential treatment over Vito.
*** Israel Dagg, the face is kind of similar but the hair colour is well ought... again, squint your eyes during gameplay and you may not notice too much, a poor fit but little darker haired options are available.

Thoughts & opinions welcomed... who could be changed for the better?

There is a way XBox 360 users, with a Memory Card/HDD transfer cable or a USB which is compatible with XBox 360, which would need to be used in order to get the squads.

I'm close to completing the full All Blacks squad, and which I will try to upload by tomorrow morning/afternoon, until then you won't be able to get the new squads. I'm just putting the instructions up so people know how to do it, this also means people may be able to upload the modified versions of the squads before tomorrow.

What you will need is:

Xplorer 360 Download: http://download.hyperfileshare.com/download.php?code=82ee4f6a&sid=465cef1f&s=2
Another Xplorer Download recommended by tonka121: http://digiex.net/attachments/downloads/download-center-2-0/xbox-360-content/apps/6155d1292705484-xbox-360-usb-storage-explorer-xplorer-xtaf-v36-usbxtafgui_v36.zip
XBOX 360 Modified Roster Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?r7729fi00ihyb5s

Also what I said above, a Memory Card or HDD and a Transfer Cable to go with them or a USB which can be used to save games on Xbox.

1199

1. Open Xplorer 360 and select "Drive" in the top-right corner. Now if you have the Transfer Cable select "Harddrive or Memcard" with the Devices already plugged in, if you have the USB, open "Image..." and select your USB device.

1200

2. Find your Gamer Profile in the Partition/s, for me it was Partition 1, the Gamer Profile should start with E0000, you may have various Gamer Profiles, the one you have been playing RWC 2011 on will have this in it "464F07ED" which is the code for RWC.

1203

3. Now you will use the "ROSTERS-2011830172152" game save from above, and drag and drop it into you the folder Xplorer360 where you have saved everything; as in the Image above. If your are asked to overwrite your previous Roster update, only select yes if you just want only the All Blacks squad as it's all I have done so far and it may erase previous renditions of Squads you have altered such as Fiji, Australia, Samoa etc. Although you may be able to have two rosters by slightly altering a number in the name or something but I very much doubt it.

4. In Xplorer360 press Drive> Close, and then put your memory device back into your Xbox where you will find the All Blacks Squad.

Just so all of you know, there may be more Partitions on certain devices and I'm not sure where your profile will be saved. Also I'm a beginner with this so I may not have/ probably haven't phrased all of these things in a way which may be most easily comprehended, but hopefully it means XBox 360 users will be able to share Squads without creating the difficulty of everyone going through the squad members individually.

The All Blacks squad I have created uses the the Players from Raziel_eire's Real squad picture, and I think I may have slightly increased or decreased some attributes but for the most part they are the same as the game. The All Blacks have also gone up to a rating of 92, even though the small bits which I edited are only edited ever so slightly.

Hopefully there will be more squads done and uploaded for the Xbox but I may not be able to do it as I am back to school soon, but I will still try to get some done.

If you have any questions or need any help ask me in here or PM me.

So far as far as my editing has gone, I have decreased O'Gara's rating, yet bumped up a few Irish and Scottish forwards ratings. I have bumped Haskell up a few and replaced Armitage with Tuilagi as far as England is concerned, although the commentator keeps screaming Armitage as I score with Tuilagi. I was appalled by the Sergio Parisse rating and knocled him up by at least ten from what I remember. I also gave a few other Italians a well deserved boost. Look forward to editing squads such as Fiji, Samoa and Tonga, just to add further realism. Great game so far though!

Okay are you extracting the proper folders for the .rar file? Have you used .rar files before? After you've extracted that it needs to go into a folder which you label 'PS3'.

Put that on your PS3 via flash drive and load the roster in RWC2011.

Cheers IRFU, can confirm your xbox roster works a treat... and yes it is possible to have multiple Roster saves on a device, albeit they are named exactly the same with only the date used to differentiate between them.

*** Another thing I've found out while editing players is that the build of player models does not tie directly to the height & weight attributes in their player profile but is also possibly connected to the default position they were created for.
I've seen this when swapping the player model of default T. Rich (a prop) to become Zac Guildford. When giving him the correct height & weight of the real Guildford, ingame he continues to pretty much have the build of a prop (all barrell-chested & bulk).

I've had to seriously reduce his weight value to try and get him looking more like a lithe winger then a pie-eater.

It's quite an intensive process getting it right so as it doesn't affect the game balancing stats wise, so have really only changed all of New Zealand, the first 22 of Australia at this point. I've got to do the last 8 of Australia and then onto Samoa and Fiji, which should be a few more days yet.

The next one will also feature minor tweaks for stats in teams like Ireland (such as making players like Heaslip reflect their actual abilites).

Thats good news, some guys on the Sidhe forum are saying once you share a roster file for RUgby Challenge then you cant get trophies. Was hoping it wasnt the same for Rugby World Cup.

Yes, PS3, but there has been some work on an XBox one. No-one has posted about it for several pages though. Hopefully someone from the 360 side of things will post here soon and give an update. :)

Is this like project Novo for Rugby Challenge. Would be cool if someone could actually edit the 10 unlicenced teams with the correct players, likeness and stats. Would make the game abit better for me.

I'd replace Hape with Tuilagi. They both play centre, so it's a straight swap. Anyway, Hape could break something minor before the tournament like all of his limbs, forcing me to edit in Tuilagi as a replacement. See what i did there..

so tuilagi will be in the next update, however, what other teams do in the next update, in addition to completing the Australia ?

To be honest, hadn't had much feedback making me feel like it was worthwhile. Was kinda like people were 'meh' about this. Now that Raziel and I are hearing some good things about it, it makes me feel good and I'm going to go to work on some new additions.

I tell you what a side that only loses to the AB's by 31 points that has had 90 odd put on them has had a bit of an increase in my latest build. 10pts on their rucking stats and 2pt each on speed and accel. Makes Tonga only 66 overall against the 65 they were, but Maaaaan do they play better and not unrealistically!

We tested it and the scores were so close to the real game that I'm way happier with things. :)

Am looking at getting onto some of the sides again this afternoon. I am finishing Australia, which has a decent (I reckon) Giteau in the wider squad. I just need to fill about 2-3 more places to have a good modern squad. I'm thinking that if I end up with one player I can't name, it'll end up being a classic player. I don't think that'll happen though as the Australian squad is generic enough that it mostly fits a cross-section of candidates.

Even so, a commanding lock who can kick goals such as John Eales would be pretty well received if that's the kind of brown haired player I end up with. I'm starting to think that if I can use the available likenesses to make a good squad of any available nation and with 29 of the players and I can't quite finish it, why not have a classic player to be able to call on for emergency games? Not like I'm flooding squads with bullsh*t players, just one of them. :)

Your views appreciated.

The default stats is a hard thing sometimes. For the first fifteen it's a little easier. You look for the guys with the best stats in the 30 in various positions and these must be the starting guys. After that it gets harder, but then you realise that the HB guys didn't get everything right to start with.

For example O'Gara has a super boot that's just amazing. In South Africa with a strong wind behind him he can plant a 65m kick, maybe more (think I had 3-4m left when it cleared)! I think some of the lesser team have ridiculous rucking stats (ranging from 35-55, when they need to range at least 45-65). This makes sides that are decent in real life a little more competitive without over-doing it. We still want a challenge when playing tough teams, but we've found in single and multi-player it helps if you can get the ball 3-4 times in a half. :)

I totally agree, I have already removed O'Garas super boot and other well known kickers in the game. The default teams stats in general are way off, they need some major changes to try and balance the weak and strong teams.

I wonder how Frans is getting on with the editor, not heard anything for a while. :)

Hopefully he is doing well, it'll take much longer than what I've been upto with Raziel Eire's assistance. It's the kind of thing that might take a few months to get a solid build on if it works properly. :)

Meanwhile I want to hear from Fijian, Samoan and Tongan posters. You guys want a say in who really looks like who in your nations default squads? Let us know guys. Meanwhile, I have 5-6 Samoans sorted, out and need a little bit of help to be more specific. :)

To both doyler and nicospum:

If you have extracted the SAVEDATA folder from the .rar file that you downloaded, then I believe what you might not have done is put the 'SAVEDATA' folder that you've extracted into a 'PS3' folder.

That is the outer container folder that the PS3 recognises when it looks at your flash drive.

Remember when you do find it in your PS3 Saved Game Data on your PS3 that you still have to load the roster when you boot up the game.

Finally, all the steps are outlined in post one, page one of this thread. :)

Thanks a bunch for the feedback, it helps to know it's of use to some of you fine people out there. The end results are of course far from perfect, but with what little realistic options there are for Raziel and I, it's a good step in the right direction. :)

Well the Samoa work is starting to proceed along now I've completed the last 8 for Australia and I think overall they were a bit nearer to reality than New Zealand. I'm sure I'll go as far as Samoa's 22 before I get worn out for a while of doing it and will upload that. :)

Just wanted to say, awesome work with the roster editing! I very much enjoy playing with the real wallabies, rather the default ones like 'Anesi'.

Are the newer versions of the rosters your updating being saved at the link to the initial post for this thread?

Also why make it a .rar file, now I have a trial version of winzip, I don't think it compressed it at all, plus the file size is tiny anyway, I don't think its gonna bother anyone's download limits...

No this isn't a problem. All the rosters display Database Version 1.0, regardless of the patch. Mine does and I've updated it several times since 1.01 came out.

On Samoa. I've had a ridiculously busy last day and a half , so have hardly been on my computer to do anything, so will continue with the names and profiles and may update the file for you guys when I've even got the first 10 faces and profiles sorted, at 7 now.

I understand what your saying, but I can't sort mediafire out to take a folder. It takes only individual files as far as I can tell and if that's the case as it seems to be, I'd have an even more complicated scenario to explain as, the roster files are not one individual file, but about 3 different files within a very specific BLES coded folder. It's more complicated than simply un-raring or unzipping for me at this point. :(

Hi guys, here's what I've been up over here till 5.30am doing. This is my latest update link.

http://www.mediafire.com/?pbntnebivlt7qbz

It should contain in this update (V3.80) :

The rest of the Australian squad is done and includes Matt Giteau as an option outside the 22 (that might be contentious. but it's fun using him).

The Samoan squad is done to 22 players, rest to be completed very soon. The side has been rebalanced to 77 (still 2 below Scotland, so fairly far) to reflect their more dangerous nature since they beat Australia and as expected thrashed Namibia. A certain Mr Tuilagi is rated 90 and is pretty strong. All of this has not been overdone though.

Some sides have been rebalanced in their rucking category and a few other minor abilities to make them usable as minnows and to reflect their efforts so far. I have not gotten around to all of them as yet, but some of you will notice that Tonga and Romania have had a very slight rebalancing upwards which makes for them to be a little tougher all round.

Ireland have had an increase to Heaslip's overall skills and a well overdue decrease to O'Gara's mega-boot, whilst still making Ireland as dangerous as ever.

Hope these changes will be enjoyable for now. Will be completing the Samoan roster and eyeing up Fiji after that. :)

Hey Guys Great Work!!
As a North American I clearly don't know enough about the inner workings AUS/NZ to properly edit them so this is great.
However,
I am having the same problem as a few of the other North Americans. I am following all of your steps to the letter but the game will not find the copied saved roster file. I have a hunch it is because the disc was not in stores in my area so I just downloaded the game from PSN. It is a hunch but I have no proof.
Not sure if there is anything that can be done but I hope there is some way I could enjoy the fruits of your labour.

Note: This is not my work (aled2912). I take no credit. Congrats to everyone who is helping however. Looks like you've done an incredible job so far.

Here is the latest update (V3.80) of the roster update work going on here. It covers the rest of Australia and Samoa (1-22), bear in mind that due to likenesses not being suitable for everyone, I've done the best I can. I hope this helps. :)

I really like your work, but.

With the last update you made Beale really bad at kicking?

Also what's up with Cooper being as good goal kicker and the default one over JOC, JOC was one of the top goal kickers (and point scorers) for the Super15 and has been a little off form lately but he's got great technique and can comfortably land them from 50m.

Hey I take all feedback on board, so will make some subtle tweaks to that for my next update. :) Although I'm sure you might've made those specific changes for yourself within your own roster.

With Beale I had intended him to be a reasonably capable kicker (it seems in HB games they tend to get quite good over an 80 rating, and hit top world class level over 90) and I had intended Beale to be about an 82 -84 in the update. James O'Connor is probably the guy who I should've had for the majority of the goal kicking (and I should put his rating in the high 80's, maybe 88), but had been distracted by other things and hadn't done that. Fair points on both of those things. I want these updates to be pretty correct, so I'm listening. :)

For all those Xbox users this is a guide to update the starting 22 for Australia. Thanks to the people on here who provided the lists i just typed things up.

PS. The stats are taken from the player in the "Stats of:" coloum so this is also a list of everyones default stats. I will be doing this for new zealand but i didn't know whos stats to use for which player.

Any lists people can provide for the unlisceed teams i'll be happy to type up in this format for us all to use.

Enjoy

Hi, I am having the same problem as a few people here, I am following all of your steps to the letter but the game will not find the copied saved roster file. When I copied the roster file into my ps3, it created a brand new Rugby World Cup folder. I can't integrate it with the one I had. The ps3 thinks that they are completely different games. (i downloaded the game from psn)

edit: The problem is, for all you that downloaded the game from usa store, your savedata will be NPUB-XXXX-XXXX, the ones that downloaded it from european store will be NPEB-XXXX-XXXX or the ones that bought it from USA stores, like you have the cd will be BLUS-XXXX-XXXX but in this case the savedata is BLES-XXXX-XXXX that means is only for european games that were bought in stores, only cd.

This is also a guide if you want to do it yourself. It may differ from the ones that are already here.

Sometimes a player stat is repeated on another player, for example if a team has 3 SH, and in the game there are only two. The latter two will have the same stats.

If someone posts the face guide of the rest of the teams (Georgia, Russia, Tonga, Romania, Namibia & Japan), I can do all of them.

Thanks very much for that. Was going to post up that myself, but well done and thanks. :)

This is also a guide if you want to do it yourself. It may differ from the ones that are already here.

Sometimes a player stat is repeated on another player, for example if a team has 3 SH, and in the game there are only two. The latter two will have the same stats.

for ps3 just use the file at the first post:
First load a roster save from your RWC game on a usb stick. Then open the files you downloaded from here copy the four files into the folder on the usb stick and override the data. plug the stick back in to your ps3 and override the save ... rosters should be done and updated.

dude i already did that but i doesn't works for USA virtual games (bought in psn store) it only works for EUROPE real games (cd).

when's the next update due?

This game gets dated fast without these weekly improvements in the game play attributes, rosters and names.

Also QC's tackling ability is way too high.

Wish people were easier to fend if they were diving tackling just like they are in real life...

I've been working on a whole host of minor tweaks and alterations which make things really enjoyable particularly in multi-player. Plus I've finished Samoa and have done 22 of Fiji.

I'll take note of your stat alteration request. When an Aussie says that QC's tackling is too high your probably right. It is from the default stats for Australias original number 10, so will place it at something a little more accurate, like somewhere between 62 and 68. Will decide after seeing how much it'll bring him down (can't remember what he's at right now).

A little late, because I noticed some Fijian players were more than a little inaccurate, when default stats applied. They'll still finish up between 75 and 76 overall, but it's just some specific players were being made to look too good. Fijians best players should be best and all that. :)

So the downloadable file has been updated because at the start of the post it still calls it v3.8?

I'm sorry guys, but believe it or not, I had accidentally deleted my nearly completed update. Luckily I have been testing a slightly earlier build of it on a friends PS3. He's been away at the World Cup quarters and only got back two days ago. I'm nearly totally back up to date on my changes and I really think it'll be the best one yet.

Just some info to let you know what makes it a whole lot more fun.

Some teams like Tonga have been raised up in ability. For example Tonga are now 74 (after all they beat France!), making them a solid match for the likes of Fiji instead of the joke they were. Samoa are at 78 now and when you bearing mind the pushing they gave Wales 84 and South Africa 88, that's pretty fair.

The Welsh centres have had a very slight increase to their agility, which is the stat which makes them more manoeuvrable.

Australia's Quade Cooper's tackling has been lowered to a more honest 62. Whilst Pocock has been made a true World Class player, rather than just a very good one as he was.

Canada have had certain individuals made into pretty handy players as they should be, Kleeburger, Fairhurst and van der Merwe as prime examples. In USA guys like Clever and a couple of their other stand-out players have had well-earned stats improvements also.

Russia are still very low early 60's rated team, and not renamed yet of course, but the Halfback has had a stats boost in the acceleration and agility dept, as he was a bit of a zippy little gem amongst those guys. They may get a little bit of naming attention in a future update.

In general the minnows should present a more fair representation of how they were in this world cup (gap closing, but still a way off being truly competitive).

There are many more changes coming in with the updated rosters and I've had nothing but great feedback from all the friends who've helped me playtest it.

Just need to update 10 more Fijians all over again and I'm done....for a while.

The only real chance to do that is if someone uploads a Roster Savedata folder from the US version here and I can download it. Then I could try and make them compatible, or see if there's some way to exchange the data between the two.

So, if someone can, it's the only way I might be able to help.

My particular updates have been for PS3, but there was a stage a long while back in the early pages where some people released some kind of method for updating Xbox 360 too. They haven't followed up with any subsequent updates, perhaps they weren't getting any feedback on their work either.

I stopped up-dating and playing RWC when RC came through my door, 10 x better game play and i can ignore all the flaws simply because its more real and harder. The only problem is there's just as much editing to be done on RC to get that to an accurate position to! We just can't win.

Fair enough, but the whole RC Vs RWC thing is for other threads, thanks. :)

Any chance Raziel Eire will put up the face pics of Tonga? They are one of the last sides for me to want to edit.

I'm playing JLRC. Don't think it's 10 times better than RWC....but it's certainly better, even with it's 'flaws'. RWC is dead the water.

Everyone has their own opinions on that, so post that in a relevant thread please, this thread is all about roster files or information relevant to that. :) It'd be a bit like posting negative game opinions in an editing thread for Rugby Challenge and in that case it'd also be irrelevant to the thread.
