If Sidhe decide to add a classic match challenge mode in RL 2, then what matches would you like to see?

To start off with I'd like to have the 89 GF between Balmain and Camberra! (considered the greatest GF of all time untill 2003's involving the Roosters and Panthers) and the 2003 GF http://www.therugbyforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

It is the Super League Grand Final 2002.

St Helens and Bradford Bulls have been involved in a see-saw battle for 77 minutes. The score is tied at 18-18 and the prospect of extra time for the first time in Super League Grand Final, looms large.

You take control of St Helens on their own line, with 3 minutes to play. Your mission is simple: score a try, drop a goal, or kick a penalty, to win the Grand Final and take the Super League crown home.

'Wide to West'
There are 30 seconds left in this game. St Helens are trailing Bradford by 11-10. The Saints have possession deep inside their own half. There are 30 seconds remaining. Can you repeat history and put Saints through? Or will you take control of the Bulls and hang on for a famous win?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is the semi-final of the 2003 Challenge Cup. In the 78th minute, a try from St Helens lock Darren Smith looks to have put the game beyond the Rhinos and booked the Knowsley Roaders a ticket to Cardiff.

Take control of Saints, and your mission is to hold onto this slender lead and take the Saints to the Millenium Stadium.

Take control of the Rhinos, and you must repeat history and score a converted try, to take it to extra time with what is surely the last attack of the game.

It is half-time of the 2004 Tri-Nations Final between GB and Australia at Elland Road. Australia lead by 38-0 - and GB are on course for their record defeat on home soil.

Can you overturn the Kangaroos' massive lead and make yourself a hero? Or will you choose to wear the green and gold and rub salt into the wounds of the home side.

The choice is yours.

It is the 1998 Challenge Cup Final and massive underdogs Sheffield Eagles are leading against giants Wigan.

Can you hold on for a victory that will live forever as the Eagles, or will you avoid the biggest embarrasment in Wigan's illustrious history by turning things round in the last 5 minutes.

It is the 1999 Grand Final and as the Storm you are trailing 14-0 at halftime. Can you overcome this deficit to give the Storm their first premiership in their history in only their second year in the competition?

1985 Challenge Cup final, Wigan vs Hull. Widley considered as the best ever. Played infront of 98,000 people packed into Wembley stadium.

1994 WCC. The match which really did decide the World's best. ANZ Stadium Bribane vs Wigan.

Have to agree with that statement........until its taken seriously by the NRL teams the word "classic" doesn't really feature in any of those games.........

Any number of great SOO games could be selected..........

Most of the time yeah, but in 2003 the Roosters took it very seriously and sent their best squad and organised 2 warm up matches... The result was a 38-0 win to the Roosters over St Helens!
Maybe that one could be in there? http://www.therugbyforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

The one Wigan Rob has mentioned was a classic match, and Saints against Brisbane was as well where both the Aussie teams came to win AND LOST.

You're losing 38-0 with 5 minutes left. Score 40 points in 5 minutes and secure an amazing turnaround for the Super Saints! http://www.therugbyforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif

Nah, maybe you could start with the half time score though and turn it around... if you chose to be the roosters you'd have to score 38 points or more from the start and not let saints cross your line.

You forgot to mention that a jet-lagged, and most likely hungover, Wigan beat Brisbane, in Brisbane, in a fully competative match.

If they do have classic matches, I think that they should recreate a few highlights of them and play them like a cut scene, then give you say the second half or whatever for you to finish the game.

I think that is really a very good idea!!!!!!

They could give you a highlights package (actual footage) of what has happened in the game prior to you taking the situation over. This could be done with voiceover setting out what has occured prior, and what you need to acheive to complete the classic game.

If they were really flash they could then show you actual footage of what really happened once you have successfully completed the classic match.

Yeah, like the videos in SJRL1 you could unlock. Try and find the cricket 2002 demo. The NZ vs England one. The match was made up but the loading screne had a blub like "England made 245 blah blah blah, NZ lost early wickets but McMillan scored 135 (note the unrealistic crap EA spits out) and now Vettori and Martin are left with 4 overs to get the final 45 runs." Then you got 4 overs to score those runs without lossing any wickets. It was a pretty fun challenge for a demo, pitty they didn't include it in the real game.

Storm v Dragons '99 would be my No. 1 one.

For each Classic Match their should be 2 Scenarios, the Real One and the ''What if'' one.

That is a bloody good idea!

What do you reckon Mario? Would it be possible to implement something like that?
If not this time, what do you think of the idea anyway?
