With the Rugby League season here down under just two weeks away whats been happening? Nothing? Well that's how much we are hearing over here in New Zealand so I thought I would do some digging. First of all I thought this would be a great way to announce the 2009 Tipping competition before I get started, everyone welcome and hopefully I can source a prize out for the winner this year.  So whats been happening in the off season? Well just the other day Manly decided to shock the English super league by being the first Australian team in six years to become the World Club Challenge champions. They bet Leeds 28-20 in a thrilling victory in Elland Road. Would this make Manly early favourites this year? I hope not.

Not too much else has been happening in the off season. The Warriors have lost Sonny Fai to a tragic accident on the beach. They also picked up the Little General in Stacey Jones, it will be interesting to see how he goes this year. The Bunnies bet the Dragons in a trial match, Storm are looking to be another contender after that shock 40-0 loss in the Grand Final, what a disappointment that was right? They bet the Broncos in a trial match. But these matches don't give away too much. it will be interesting to see how they go.

 I will be following my beloved Eels this year, as always. Now that i have mysky-hdi I will be recording all the Eels games and try to make a weekly report on them. I would do all the games, but alas, i have a life, and that involves mainly my girlfriend. She gets a bit annoyed with the amount of tv that I watch, I hardly get away with watching a cricket test match let alone a couple of hours in our precious weekend for league (or Canterbury rugby for that matter) ill defiantly make time to watch them all anyway. First game is against the Warriors, though they are my home team, kinda,  I would love to see the Eels take it out. They have former Warriors coach Daniel Anderson, and hopefully he can bring them back to some old time glory. I also hope the run they made to the playoffs last year starts a bit earlier, they didn't quite get there last year. Oh well.
