ive always been a forum reader never posted anything before but i had to for this!
Its unbelievable that it took so many years to get a Rugby Union game out on the PS3 the only reason i bought a ps3 was because i was hoping one day a Union game would make it onto the ps3 and after waiting sooooooo many years we get 2 games out within a month and both are total ****! ive been a huge union supporter for games since Jonah Lomu Rugy on PS1 which is the greatest game of all time I still have PS1 just to play this, and Rugby 2001 on PS2 is good to other then that the rest are dissapointments.
I swear either the people making these games have actually never picked up a footy ball in there life or the critics who say these games are good dont even know what union is cause there from some other country. Rugby Challenge is terrible! Mauls are nothing u press x or o and get lucky and if u do get the ball then u have like 2 seconds to get it out of there before the stupid player picks it up and stands there, and if u try and pass the ball it uselly ends up dribbling 10 metres behind you to no one. u cant set any plays up from the maul. if u do happen to get it to the back line there is no chance of throwing inside ball or cutout pass or anything cutout pass uselly means it throws the player and goes straight through him and out of touch.
Players run around in circles trying to get out course and offloading is ridiculous a 5 minute game and u can offload 50 times and most of the time the offload will be like a 50 metre pass through other players to a random player its a joke. if your winning a game all of a sudden u cant tackle the computer because there offloading to every player on the team and then some before running through a tackle to score.
you totally have to have knock ons but come on its a sunny day and it seems 3 out of 5 times u get the ball it knocks on and goes to a pathetic scrum which again u cant even set up a play from it uselly pass it to the next player who will throw a wild ball to no one. there is the option of holding pass and it comes up with x o on players heads but the view doesnt even allow u to see where they are and i got a big tv so no its not my tv.
if you do make a it zooms in on the player wit the ball wtf??? how are u meant to do your next move u have no idea wether there is a man to the left or right to offload to or to kick to because it zooms in on the player why would u do that???? its awesome to make a break but its pointless if u cant even see wats going on after u do to make the next move.
lineouts are a joke! its pretty much impossible to win one against the team throwing it in. u try and get it to throw down the middle and thats it other team gets it. and if u do get it again no way to set up any plays.
a fun part is sending fowards up the middle to make metres but being able to pass to one running onto it is impossible and u do happen to get lucky u will lose the maul straight away.
kicking goals is lame, a circle fills up and u press it on the mark thats terrible wind barely makes a difference.
there is nothing worse though wen u do make a break and pass it to the next player and it either flings 20 metres behind u on the ground or straight through the player ur passing to!
pretty much the only positive thing about the game is the infeild kicking with grubbers and bombs although there far from perfect.
career mode is nothing 13 year career mode dont advertise this. its basically playing all the competitons through in one go over and over. no depth
now i love union games just after waiting so many years and getting this **** its so annoying i wish ea sports would take over and bring a union game out look at the quality and movement in FIFA 11, if jonah lomu rugby ps1 was updated into hd and brought out on ps3 i would buy it in a heartbeat or even rugby 01 the games where players actually pass to each other and run directly where u want them to without running in a circle to get them selves moving.
if you think this or the rugby world cup game is good then u need to go buy lomu on ps1 and see the difference and that was made in 1997 and it kicks ass! its devastating that lomu would let them put his name on this ****! this is pretty much exactly the same as the weak league games from you guys come on any chance u can upgrade lomu ps1 for ps3 pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
there is much more i could say on the topic but i doubt anyone will even take the time to read this far haha but if u do let me know your thoughts good or bad please :)
but big thanks to the guys for at least bringing out a union game even if it aint good its nice to play it again on ps3.
peace!!!!

I love this game!!!!!!!!!!!Did take me 2 days to get used to the passing as you have to take player position and timing into account, but now I usually get it right and love the advanced passing. Its not perfect, but by far the best rugby game ever. The editor is amazing, just dissapointing you have to change the players commentary name twice for it to be saved..... I have both rugby games and have really enjoyed both, but after getting rc last week don't think I will play rwc again as I thought I would. Well done Sidhe, looking forward to the next enstallment.

mate have u ever played jonah lomu on ps1??? cause you obviously have no idea how rugby union works if you think this game is good, there is ZERO strategy and ZERO skill to this game, you make a break camera zooms in and you cant see a thing try to pass to the man next to you and it flings back 20 metres behind you. ive been waiting years and years for this game please stop all the fancy **** like trying to make the crowd look good and making the haka look good who gives a **** about that you watch it once and then skip over it. please just focus on making a consistent game that actually comes together and can do plays and inside balls and players actually work!
in the lead up to this game all i kept readin was how awesome the crowd and effects looked!!! who cares!!! u dont sit there watchin the crowd while you play focus on gameplay before anything else!

i've been having a lot of these problems too, esp how the player passes it 20 metre's back when you're trying to pass to the player next to you, but i've learned you can't just sprint and pass it and expect it to be perfect, also i think you have to actually turn slightly to the player as you're passing to throw a flat pass, you have to slow down as you pass the ball and time the runs waiting for follow players to set them up, not just sprint and expect all the players to be right next to you, those kind of helped for me anyway, and yeah i'm having a lot of knock ons too and for no reason, its really frustrating. as for how it zooms in, i thought that was a stupid idea too coz you can't see any of your team mates so i just turned it off in the settings and changed the camera view to side view.
another problem i had was didn't realize i needed to press both pass buttons at the same time to pass to the first five so he can kick etc, i was just passing it out wide every time wondering why there was always a prop as the first receiver lol, it didn't even mention to do that in the tutorials
i think the game would be a lot better if you could set up play formations from line outs or scrums etc, i also don't like how the scrums move so far forward too
that said i do still love the game even if it is frustrating at times, if i can get used to this this might be the best rugby game so far imo

FINALLY someone who shares the pain haha. yeh mate u can get around the problems and work them out to actually have a game of rugby, thanks for ur tips :) its just so frustating and annoying that in 14 years since jonah lomu rugby ps1 nothing has improved u would think in that time it would be close to perfect aye, if your not throwing the ball in at the line out u may as well drop the controller until the other team gets it lol. 14 years later and no structure or anything has been improved me and my mates will stick to lomu from ps1 who knows maybe in another 14 years they will have worked out all they need to do is work from that game :)

I played lots of Jonah lomu on ps1, but I dont agree that its better than rc. Thats just my opinion. lots of people are actually enjoying the game. I can now go through an entire game without my players dropping a pass, it just takes practice. I also dont like the camera that zooms in when you breakaway, but i just turned it off. I agree this game is not perfect and things like, mauls from lineouts, set plays, offoading to a forward from a ruck, would make it better, but I'm still enjoying it as are lots of other people. I also usually steal a few lineouts in a game.
TRF_woosaah
12-09-11, 08:59 AM
yeah i play side view for the zoom reason, and the fact that the screen rotates in a change of posession. Having it freeze everytime there is a change of posession is just hard work too, even on side view.
I was sure that the pass to playmaker was part of the tutorial, i thought it was anyway, if not there has been enough information about it that I knew what it was. Pity that in the scrums you want to pass straight to your playmaker and either a wing or a center is first receiver and your fly half is on the wing, makes no sense.
there are things with this game that are fundamently wrong, but I am still enjoying it. I am missing driving from a lineout, quick lineouts, set plays just to name a few but i find it much better to play that JLR, at least its hard!

Woosah you can turn the zoom off and the flip view as well. I play with the behind view and i turn the flipping off. Wont really work against human controller though, but against AI its great.
TRF_woosaah
12-09-11, 09:09 AM
still hate the behind view anyway. you can see more of the field on side view.
one thing they could of included..phase counter underneath the score board..im up to the stage where i can successfully pull off 5+ phases with my forwards..
I think ur over reacting a tad bit, rugby 06 and 08 was a much improved effort from previous titles and I take my had off to the guys from sidhe for finally bring us a new rugby game after 4 dead years of playing a nice game (rugby 08) till its not as nice anymore coz its 4 years old,so they finally did everyone a favour and tried(for the 1st time)and did a great job!!!I know about about rugby,I play at club level and I also play alota games, and this game u smash to the ground coz of maybe a few glitches and or u that can't get used to the controls coz u only play a ps game from 14 years ago,a lot of ppl don't give wayward passes anymore coz they actually know how to play games, take time and go make ur own game plz coz these guys tried there best and I thank them for a new game, and also maybe get ur game patched so it doesn't do all the stuf u complain about....I vote sidhe wil just improve from this and I'm my eye they are by far beter rugby game creaters that ea,ea is too good from us ppl to even try and create a game so nobody forced u to buy the game so just go and give it to a real rugby fan!I promise u some1 else will have the time of there life!!!!!

I liked the explanation of rucks. I've not complained about the use of the r-stick in the lineouts, because it's an advanced option, and I've always said I'm okay with those. Long passes from rucks look good, but I'm a bit wary about my ability to pass to playmaker.

Lol mate u Have no idea Wat your talkin about u clearly have no idea about games or sport. Wen u Have been waiting 4 years for a new union game to come out and wen it finally does it is totally disapointment its annoying. Have u played the league games? They are exactly the same every glitch every **** part of it that was wrong wit them since league 1 is in this union game. They have clearly just modified teams, lineout and rucks into the game and slapped a union brand on it but It's still the same glitchy **** league was no improvements. I'm a big sport player and game player so learn Wat ur talkin about b4 commenting mate. U would think in how ever many years its been since the company made league 1 u would fix at least a few bugs lol. 100 dollar game Wat a joke

Where did you order from?
Played a good bit today. I'm really enjoying the game, there are flaws no doubt but it's a big step up from Rugby 08. Highlight was a narrow two-point win over the All Blacks in the Bledisloe Cup series thanks to a completely accidental drop goal from Quade Cooper, from near touch on the 22!

My question is has there been a release date for the game for the uk and also is there anywhere which shows all the player in each team if not could some one who has the game tell me what worcester squad is. Sorry if my question has been answered but really cant be asked to go through any pages

No specific release date has been set (that I've seen) - they've said that it'll be out at some point between end of september and end of october (can't remember the exact dates, but it's something like 23rd - 17th)

ahh shame thanks for the info anyway
Some guy on the Facebook page posted an e-mail apparently from the UK distributor, saying they were aiming for the 7th.
Played through the Quad Nations. Lost as South Africa on bonus points after conceding a late Israel Dagg try and failing to put 4 past Argentina. A whole ton of fun.

Yeah I've had this game for 5 days now and it's brilliant. It's nowhere near as 'instant' as, say, FIFA, it takes a while to get your game head set in, but once it does, it's an absolute joy.

You should write for Eurogamer, you got that all right with the positives and negatives, the game has certainly grown on me since a rocky start, that said I want to buy RWC later on as the two do have something to offer and I don't think I gave it a fair chance first time round. I think the PC version will be the best option with this game, it runs ok but after playing COD at 60 FPS the xbox is showing it's age, if the PC has 360 pad support.

I never got that far with RWC, I bailed out before the patches and edits, can this be done in RWC? Not tried this game online, not much point yet. Sale Sharks are alright, I don't think Cueto, Hodgson and Sheridan will make you mad I had a good game against Leinster before. The offloads are starting to really **** me off but I think you can edit them too.

RWC is similar to RC in that edited teams can't be taken online, however in RWC teams retain their preprogrammed stats, as opposed to in RC where the teams are all equal
Good to hear Sale are alright, I'm looking forward to seeing what the teams like considering how much change there has been over the past two seasons

Just for you. ;)
Sheridan - Loosehead Prop / Briggs - Hooker / Wihongi - Tighthead Prop / Lewaravu - Lock / Rouse - Lock / C.Jones - Blindside Flanker / Seymour - Openside Flanker / Koyamaibole - Number 8 / Peel - Scrum Half / Hodgson - Fly Half / Cueto - Left Wing / Tait - Inside Centre / Tuilagi - Outside Centre / Pesamino - Right Wing / Williams - Fullback / M. Jones - Hooker / Ormsby - Blindside Flanker / Brightwell - Blindside Flanker / Cliff - Scrum Half / Macleod - Fullback / Cohen - Right Wing / Imiolek - Tighthead Prop / Forster - Tighthead Prop / Gaskell - Lock / E. Roberts - Tighthead Prop / Bell - Inside Centre / Brady - right Wing / Cox - Lock / Crane - Right Wing / Croall - Tighthead Prop / Fearns - Blindside Flanker / James - Fly Half / Kennedy - Inside Centre / Kuadey - Right Wing / Leck - Scrum Half / Miller - Fly Half / B.Roberts - Hooker / Satala - Blindside Flanker / Thornley - Outside Centre / Tonetti - Outside Centre / Vakacegu - Fullback / Ward - Hooker /
I dunno if this is shoddy I just know Sheridan didn't get a slap against Leinster. Players have alternate positions as well you know, not tried playing a lock at fly half just yet. :D

No major positional problems I can see, just a few minor (i.e Loosehead -> Tighthead, 12 -> 13)
Few names in there I don't recognise as Sale players though (Satala, Vakacegu, Satala)
Has players spanning three seasons as well
Schwaler from two season ago, Tonetti from last season, Ward from this

IMHO I believe we are the demo testers, alot of feedback has been given on the bugs and glitches of this game and they are releasing a patch to fix some of the bugs and make the game more enjoyable, but the patch won't be released until the UK version is released and vise versa

Just some quick thoughts on Rugby Challenge.
I came into the game with very high expectations. Many things I was hoping for I guess I got. Was it a third generation game? Yes. Did it look visually impressive? Yes. However the negatives for me outweigh the positives. In Rugby Challenge they have more control of the players than in previous Rugby Games, with the animation being considerably more impressive when you do a fend or sidestep or dummy, and it's done so it's pretty smooth unlike Rugby 08. The field and stadiums looks better and the player models also look good. With that in mind, that's all the positives for me.
Game play is messy. Really messy. Scrums halfs will always miss all players and pass to the ground when I press R1, so I always have to pass to flyhalf (R1+R2) or to the winger miles down the field (hold R1/R2). When playing anything other than end-on from very far away, I can't for the life of me see the players outside that I'm passing to. I play Rugby 08 with out this problem. The fact of the matter is, it doesn't matter how far away he is, because my pass is either going to be an amazing cross field pass that will end up to him perfectly, or it will go ***** off all the way down the field towards my own ingoal line or touch. It's just messy, there doesn't seem to be any kind of structure to it other than pass and hope it lands. When you get tackled, you'll almost instinctively offload, and then you'll either score an amazing try or you'll offload to no one and everyone on the field will try and scramble. Easy is super easy, normal is easy but frustrating and anything above normal is just frustrating (though you can still usually win with amazing botton mashing at rucks).
What I think annoys me most about the game play, is that you can't do anything of any use with your flyhalf. You can't put him in the pocket, run a set piece or even charge onto the ball. It's just this rush. Half the time the flyhalf isn't even standing in the first receiver position so it goes to my fullback, 2nd 5/8th or any other player at random it seems. The kicking from hand is actually poor animation and the slow motion thing doesn't sit well with me, as the time it takes to actually aim the thing, it may as well be running much quicker. Chip kicks seem to never go where I want them to go, so you have to bomb it just to aim it. When you do a chip kick you'll likely get tackled off the ball anyway as the ball goes at right angles from where you were aiming.
Forward play is totally useless in the game. Not that forwards are useless as I score 80m tries with Victor Vito, Jerome Kaino, Brad Thorn, Kevin Mealamu and even Will Chambers when I decided to play him at blindside flanker (lol), however picks and goes, or passing to a forward near the ruck (which is suprisingly hard to do) has almost no merrit compared to doing amazing crossfield passes or passing it through the hands to your winger who depending you're playing with or against, may end up putting Hosea Gear (speed 88) against the poor old German fullback who's running at what seems like 55 speed. Even when you're playing on the hardest difficulty, a strong and fast winger will almost guarentee you'll win a game, especially considering you can pass the ball from mid field to the wing in a few seconds to score in the corner every time.
Despite this, I'd be happy with the game, if it met the second part of my criteria. Now there were always going to be players from South Africa not licensed. I got that. I've come to terms with that. And for the people on the forum who are saying "I can't work out who from South Africa is who" here's a hint: Look for the players first letter of their first name and the first letter of their second name. It's that simple. There is no hidden subtlety to Sidhe's getting around player names. I can even appreciate that the players from South Africa have faces made by the create-a-player function. What I do object to, and it's probably the killer for me, is that players from Ireland, England, Wales, France, Italy, Fiji, Germany, Argentina, Japan etc, etc don't have players faces that are made in detail. Some of them resemble the players, but when you have forked over the money for licensing their clubs and leagues, I would presume that player likenesses would perhaps be some what of a big drawing card. The ITM Cup and Super Rugby are brillaint, but when you're playing with the splitting image of Jason Rutledge against some player that resembles Brian O'Driscoll or Johnny Wilkinson, you feel kind of cheated. What adds insult to injury is when your playing against a national team with a custom team and the only player in the entire team that looks like that person is fricking Mario Wynands (who funnily enough is the only custom face in team SIDHE, although not foolling anyone playing fullback :p).
The biggest pull to TRF over the years has been kits and faces for Rugby 08. It seems to me that if there are people on this forum willing to spend long periods of their time for free, to make hundreds of detailed faces for the game (with a mix of NH and SH faces), that it would be an indication of just how much unique and quality faces mean to people. Even if it was only 20-30 faces for each of the top 15 playing countries, it would make the game infinently more enjoyable form me. I can appreciate that licensing has stopped getting the kits for most national teams, but I put the lack of unique faces down to laziness, and I can't understand how someone from England will enjoy playing this game with a picture perfect Australian and New Zealand team and the rest of the world looking generic. What most amazes me is that USA is totally licences with no custom faces! What the heck!
I'm pleased I bought this game, as I do think it was a step in the right direction for a new generation rugby game and any money that goes towards that will potentially mean better games are created. With that in mind I'd be willing to pay an additional $20 for a lot more unique faces to be added to the game in dlc. I'd also happily buy the next version of this game providing the gameplay is more structured and that there are more licenses and unique faces. There is just so much effort that has been put into this game that it seems like only a few moderations to gameplay and quite a bit more time in modeling, would make the game absolutely brillaint. However with out these changes, I think I'll enjoy a few more Rugby 08 games.

I meant in general - and while I agree that it's standard that you're not allowed to take custom teams online, it's not standard to have the players playing in the wrong positions
I'm not looking forward to playing as Worcester online and having to bring on Miles Benjamin as replacement lock

Gone - 50 quid - put it on while having my cornflakes come back from Tesco, sold.
The other bloke sums it up, it's a good game but why the **** there is no default slider for turning the offloads off I dunno. He was right about the licenses, some bloke on the forum had a roster save for my 360 but his website is broke. If you are getting it - get it on the PS3. I will buy it again probably next year at this rate, on the PC if there are mods and controller support, no way you can play this on KB and mouse. Why it's on steam and not for sale is another mystery. They must be bringing it out around the final.
Been playing the FIFA demo all week, it's going to mince this game, you got more chance of Sale doing the double, they really ****ed up the release. If those EA guys start doing rugby both HB and Sidhe are ****ed. It's on another level, the game is good but it won't get a sniff in two weeks.

There are more football fans than rugby fans ... sadly.
Also only die hard rugby fans / players will purchase these games. Casual gamers would tend to pick it up if there are no other games around that would appeal to them aka. FIFA, Madden, Pro Evo, Batman, COD, Battlefield etc.

Aye - you also have to think how much money people will have sitting around
If it'd come out here when it did in NZ then I would've got it day one - now that it's coming out around the same time as Battlefield 3 I'm not going to get it - I don't have almost £100 in spare change for games at any given time, so I'll get BF3 and then RC used or something later down the line
Many people will make the same decision but go for Fifa/COD/whatever else instead

Loving it! Turned offloads down for every team and now it plays like a real rugby game. Only system i dont like in the game is the scrum...could of used the same system as the maul and bring the front three props into the game with scrummaging and hooking attributes. We got a bright future for Rugby games now.

Hopefully when it gets released in NA the release isn't botched like RWC 2011 was in Canada, it wasn't available in tons of stores in the first few days and still hasn't even come down to the Niagara-Hamilton area, (and won't be avaialble for at leats another 4-5 days making it a full three weeks after release date) LOL which is pretty much in the heart of Canada's population centres. I've given up on RWC if they can't even get me the damn game, I'm hoping Rugby Challange is at least available if I insert it into the XBOX its already a step above RWC.

Also: I'm looking forward to RC again! I'd began to forget about it. Glad it's relatively soon, as I'm at 95% of trophies on RWC and Zelda isn't out until November.

Well picked up my NZ Copy of the game and initial impressions are fresh approach :D The offloads seem to be a bit of a problem, lots and lots of them but overall very enjoyable. Need to do the tutorials to grasp it a bit deeper.
Quite frustrating that theres some huge bugs here and there that really ruin the experience (lets hope for them being fixed in upcoming patch).
NZ and Aus likenesses are very impressive, which makes me feel poo when playing as wales when Shane Williams is just short (end of likeness). Can't have it all, and I understand there were time constraints. Lets hope for some clever people that are good with player likenesses!

Well after a couple of hours of play, I must congratulate SIDHE on their game. Very very good :D I like the fact that hot potato passing will get you nowhere! Also could be my mind deceiving me, but when holding down the pass buttons, the supporting players move in to an attacking line (get more structured). Also the method of sidestepping is very useful (right anologue stick left to right for a step to right and vice versa - Bit more real feeling).
Hopefully the UK Rugby gaming community will be as creative as their southern hemisphere counterparts once the game is released - I want my welsh and ospreys team to look close to how they should (In saying that Adam and Duncan Jones do look fairly similar to their real life counterparts - as well as Warburton :D).
Very exited to see what others in UK and europe feel about the game in comparison to RWC11. Both have their own unique feel. I do feel that RWC 11 is more for newcomers - My flat mates are yet to grasp the scrums and line outs for RC :P :P

Urm ... I'm not talking about the patch here ... I was talking about game content.
game content is the same across all versions of the game.
Please find below the change list for the upcoming patch. All changes will be incorporated into the console versions released in Europe and North America, in the PC version, and will come as standard in future shipments to rest of world. There is no timing on when the patch will be available for download for existing versions at this time.
• Added ‘Game Play Sliders’ to Game Play options to adjust the following:
o High Tackle Frequency
o Offload frequency (AI)
o Offload success rate
o Pass success rate
o Break tackle ability
o Tackle ability
o Attack urgency
o Defensive urgency
• Added the ability to play Online Private Matches with either Balanced Team Stats or Offline Team Stats.
• Movement restrictions for RaboDirect Pro12 and Top 14, now players can only be moved within their respective competition due to licensing restrictions.
• Xbox 360 - Improved frame rate.
• Xbox 360 - Fixed issue where 50 Online Matches Trophy were not being awarded.

• Corrected text from ‘Penalty’ to ‘Option’ when lineout results in an option to the opposition.
• Fixed issue where if the gamer holds sprint during a Tutorial in the loading screen the panting SFX would continue into game.
• Fixed issue where sin bin returns where being cancelled by a new yellow card.
• Fixed issue where Yellow Card players would not return to the field under specific circumstances with ‘Time added on’ (over 40mins and over 80mins).
• Fixed issue where if more than 2 yellow card players were off field they would return to the field in the wrong order.
• Fixed issue where some gamers were not able to replace injured players.
• Fixed issue where passing to playmaker from the ruck would sometimes pass to forwards.
• Fixed issue where failed passes would sometimes be thrown at an extreme angle backwards.
• Fixed issue where the Haka would sometimes play with incorrect leader animations.

Some promising improvements, now the next question for the next few days/weeks will be "when is the patch available for download?, when is the patch available for download? when is the patch available for download?"
So i presume I shall download the patch, then "reinstall" the project novo rosters?? Would that still work? or is the player name change in patch a block of that?
Some nice improvements overall, will be fun to see them implemented once patch is released :D

Wow, this was promised to be completely customisable. Now we can't trade between Pro 12 and Top 14... does that mean we can't use these players to make our International squads up? That would be a bummer.
I cannot wait for the PC version to be released, it'll keep me busy till Diablo 3.

Mario, can we download this patch via computer?
Also, since my PS3 is busted, i have given my RC to a friend to play for a while.
Do all copies of RC need this patch? Cause i got my copy last week.
This whole time i thought something was wrong with my pass buttons on my controller..<_<
Once thing we noticed around this was it usually manifested itself when gamers where spamming the pass buttons given you can "preload" passes.
If you just make sure to press the pass buttons once, you should find the incidences of this diminish, even without the patch.
yeah it would work fine for me on fine days, but on rainy days & some online matches(the laggy ones) it would sometimes be unresponsive, leading me to press the pass buttons more than once. First thing that came to mind for this happening to me was the xbox360framerate problem, which has also been addressed in the patch:D
I really hope this game can be played with any controle on pc and not just xbox controle for windows, coz I have a few games like that and I'm not gonna buy a controle that costs more than a game
Anyone notice how much they overrated Hore in this game? they gave him more fitness and faster speed than the wingers of most teams and put him as a starter even though he's barely started a game in the last two years

Georgia, USA, NZ, and Australia are licensed national sides.

Although the USA team is fully licensed, the squad isn't even near complete. Todd Clever is a winger, its quite a shambles really.

Are Canada licensed in this game?
Who cares about the rest of the squad is Our Ed licensed?
This game needs one of those little squares at the bottom of the screen that shows where all your players are, like in the Fifa games, coz sometimes its impossible to know if you have a player outside of you or not, so you're left to just guess and either throw a pass to a player or throw it into touch
Found a GOOD glitch too :D, I went to kick a conversion with Toby Flood, the kick missed and before the ball hit the ground, I paused the game and changed my kicker to Jonny Wilkinson, then the kick started over again and gave me a second chance to take the same kick lol
Who cares about the rest of the squad is Our Ed licensed?
Having him licensed would break the game.

Ok.. So im getting a new PS3 slim this week or perhaps 2 weeks.
So i gave my RC game to a friend. His PS3 is a PS3 BIGGY.
Anyways, he says when he first started playing it, it froze a few times.. but for the past few days it has not frozen anymore.

Was quite weird really. After we were given the player list and positions by their union, we went back to them because it just wasn't right. We got told to implement as they had submitted. We tried.

Cheers Milla. You will be happy to know that im getting my PS3 'Slim' very soon. Had to give the game to a friend to play on his PS3 'Big'.
Just a note.. He said it froze a few times at first.. But now there is no more problem... Have you had any people say that the game has froze on the PS3 'Slim' version?
Recently we have had reports from a few gamers that they get freezes at the end of each offline game, and they tend to have old, highly customised data files. We're investigating this.
Prior to that cropping up the odd user reported occasional freezes (like your friend) that have cleared up.
Neither appears to be console-specific.
When i get the game on Friday will I be able to change the rosters and move players onto the international teams before downloading the patch? and will these players still be on the international teams after i install the patch?

I'd actually suggest going through the tutorials, and learning the controls, timing, etc.
Coming off the back of the RWC 2011 game you'll find there are quite a few differences in the way the game plays, so the tutorials will help you get up to speed faster and enjoying it quicker.
Yep my copy has started to freeze after each offline match. Im on the Xbox 360..Ive had to delete my profile settings/created & edited players and create a new one...got one question though. When in a competition/career mode and you go back to the main menu and you customize some players/teams, then go back to your saved competition/career mode it doesnt update there..maybe thats where the corruption in the profile save might occur? Just a thought as this freezing glitch has made me delete my rc profile twice now..with all me rc$$$.

Got an email this morning from Game saying that it's been dispatched and will be delivered shortly, guessing that means I'll get it tomorrow or Thursday?
Two working days ... or so they claim on their website.
Would anyone from Sidhe be able to confirm that we can use Xbox etc. controllers which can connect to the PC when playing the game?
Yes.
WOOHOOO.. GOT MY PS3 slim today!
Now.. have to get my RC game back from my friend.. But will he give it back is the question... :(
Also... I think im going to withhold myself from downloading the new patch.. It seems to restrict the Top 14 and Rabo League players movements.. From what i have heard.

I've only seen it listed as the 14th on eb games site here in nz. mighty ape have it listed as the 21st and places like dick smith and noel leeming don't even have listings online for the pc verson yet. So it seems like retail pc release might be delayed one week in aus/nz.
the steam release is still on track for release tomorrow so I would recommend getting it from there especially with how good the aussie dollar is against the US at the moment and the 20% pre-order discount http://store.steampowered.com/app/20840/
I can't wait to finally play this tomorrow got my pre-order on steam so just have to wait for it to unlock tomorrow now and then I will be playing rugby challenge all day (yay for uni holidays)
Still waiting for an email from ozgameshop to confirm it's been shipped. Have had a copy from the video shop for the last 3 weeks.. My overdue bill is going to be very expensive haha.

It seems that RC PC version isn't available yet.
At least on Gameseek.
Xbox and PS3 are all in stock, but PC version still has written only "Order now".
I suppose I actually have to wait until oct. 28th...

Played a couple of games on Easy to get the feel of the game, was throwing dodgy passes left right and center to start off with and was only 3 - 0 up as the Lomu All Stars vs Georgia. Managed to string together some nice phases for a couple of tries in the 2nd half. Had a crack at using the Cardiff Blues vs Lyon too, managed to score 2 epic tries with Warburton with some offloading (that actually looked fairly relastic, even if it with the front 5 doing the offloads). Would've been a hat trick but he dropped the ball backwards when I tried to dive for the line but Roberts pounced on it to score.
Was planning on doing an update to the rosters before I started a career mode, but I forgot about the Pro12 and Top14 transfer restrictions, so looking like its gonna be very hard for me to create, for example, a 2011/2012 Ospreys squad (as well as putting all the Welsh Internationals in their respective French teams).
Only ways I can think of to get around this is:
1) Create a duplicate player in the 'create a player' mode then put that in the French Clubs.
2) Re-Name the players in the Welsh National squad then see if I can use them in the French teams.
Still leaves the problem of the original players in the Ospreys tam, and I've heard that removing them entirely can muck up the squad by not letting you add enough players to get to the same number again.
Any other suggestions?
Not unless you make new players to replace them...that becomes a lot of work though. i'm going to have the same problem when I get my copy tomorow. I'd say ill start off by just creating all irish players and move them onto the national team....
Anyone with the game know how easy this is?

Got my copy for the xbox through the post today (Game can do something good, once in a while)
Had a blast at dinner, Very different from RWC but I like it! Quickly updated my England squad, Shame there is restrictions from transfering players in from certain leauges! Created myself! Not put myself in a team yet, as after training tonight I'm going to create my local side! First impressions good, not tried online yet and started the Aviva Prem, But both will be very much underway tonight!

Still waiting for an email from ozgameshop to confirm it's been shipped.
I received an email from ozgameshop today saying my 360 version has shipped and I should expect it in 4-10 days. Good times.
it's now out on steam so if you bought the pc version retail it should let you install the game now. I'm now just waiting for my steam download to finish and then I will be playing

In Career Mode ... selected Stade and NZ.
I get given a team management screen where I can remove players from Stade. But I don't see where I can draft players in. When I clicked save ... just moved me onto the All Blacks screen. Have I missed the draft screen?
Really really enjoying this, and glad I imported it. On the whole a very fresh experience and the patch to change game sliders is great, offloads gotta go down!!!
Also even though the commentary is poor, SIDHE have done an amazing job in pronouncing my surname :D I have bragging right in my uni house atm :D :D Hammer no more! Its Hamer ("Hay-mer") on the ball!!!! Brought a smile to my face :D :D
Trying my hand at the CAP, not quite grasped the concept as yet. Although Jamie Roberts' chin is now a lot larger ;) ;)

You press X on PS3 to see available players. Usually starts off with uncontracted players then you can switch left and right to filter through the competitions.

This game will be good on PC after a few mods. I just got the game and have noticed some worrying gameplay. I noticed when i played as Toulouse, i could not throw a pass to any teammate without it going backwards, on the floor or anywhere but into the players hands. It was totally unplayable. I had played with a 70 rated team (Harlequins) and managed to win a game 26-0. So i'm not sure what happened, but i just couldnt run a backline move (as such) and that was that.
Have to say the game looks awesome, with nice touches all over, but still getting used to the game. Need to edit the skill level of the teams if a tema is under 70 it appears just useless to play with.
started playing this on pro, man its frustrating, if you have a 2nd tier team its almost guaranteed you'll lose the ball in at least the second phase, and the offloads the opposition can do on pro is ridiculous. maybe i need more practice at pro but **** this is fustrating
