*sigh*
Last night was the 1st time i had watched Braith play in a roosters jersey.
:(
I only watched about 9 minutes of the game...the 1st try being scored...then i saw braith celebrate with them and told my mum she could turn over as i had, had enough. Then i watched the last 6 minutes. They kept showing Braith.
God damit. Yes i am over him leaving us to go to them and i still respect him lots. But damn it was hard to see him play for them and celebrate with them :(
Some Bulldogs supporters are wishing him the worst and hoping he gets a career ending injury. I am not one of them. I think they've forgotten all the great times he had at the Bulldogs and the things he did for us. Like when we were playin the warriors last year. It was his 2 or 3 tries (cant remember how many he scored) that won us the game. Without him playing in that game i dont think we could have won.
*sigh* i'll get over it .... lol well i am over it ... i just feel betrayed
I wish him all the best though :)

Nah, it's not that we don't have a junior grade in rugby, just that it's shit! Seriously, the city club comps are a joke compared to the NPC or Currie cup, so it can't be expected to be able to compete with the quality of players the NRL produces...

What's so bad about the roosters? We're a shining light compared to the bloody bulldogs! Seriously, how any conscientious rugby league fan could defend the dogs after years of consistently producing damaging headlines for the NRL is just stupid! No offence, but it's almost like the Bulldogs want to help Union and AFL by tarnishing the very name of rugby league!
Lets review the events since 02: The Dogs breach the cap by massive amounts and make headlines, the players get involved in the gang raping of a woman, their fans start a riot and destroy parts of Aussie Stadium, their fans set off a bomb at Telstra stadium, then their fans start another riot, this one Telstra, in which several tigers fans, including a 3 year old boy are rushed to emergency with severe cuts and bleeding...
No offence, but criticism of the roosters is just funny when it comes from doggies fans.

the roosters have that posh image..and they portray it quite well, all uptight bastards who think they can do as they please on the field...

yep..bunch of whiney c***s,but i only can blame that stupid face coach of yours..if they had cameras on ricky stuart for the whole game..it cud be made into a movie and win a academy award in best foreign drama..
hes a crying bitch...his key to success is to cry...crying is weak, its for those of low self esteem, those on the edge of suicide...its out of charity he wins coz he can cry the nile river out across australia if he had too

they suck..i wish russel crowe moved them to super league..then they can have some pride in the jersey by winning every game there...but no,russel had to throw his phone at the super league officials...and yet they stay in the world class-above the earth interms of league-gigantic brazilliant foot ball game known as the NRL....
its very sad..i mean, they totally suit the super league...fumbling knock ons, defensive zig zag lines, players with silly stupid accents,a couple of islanders here and there(mainly there best players),ugly repulsive uniform...they would fit right in next to st helens

HAZEEEEMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM MMM
He is a deadset legend..well he was before but he is more of a legend now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!
Hazem El Masri has passed former Bulldog Terry Lamb's club tryscoring record after producing a hat-trick and scoring 22 points in tonights 38-22 win over the highly-fancied Knights at Telstra Stadium.
El Masri started the match out on 121 club tries, two behind Lambs' effort of 123. Joining the great five-eighth was not on Hazems' mind as he surpassed Lamb with his third try in the 67th minute to cement his name in the Bulldogs record books once again before capping off the night with his 600th goal moments before full-time.
The Knights opened the scoring through a penalty goal to halfback Andrew Johns in the 10th minute before Hazem El Masri opened the 'Dogs scoring with a freakish try out wide. He failed to convert his own try as the scoreboard read 4-2 after 15 minutes of football.
It didn't take too long for the visitors to hit back with winger Brian Carney intercepting and running sixty metres to score just 3 minutes later. Johns failed to convert but the Knights were back in front 6-4.
The Bulldogs then had their chances down the other end but the Knights were the ones consolidating and in the 22nd minute they skipped out to an 8-point lead courtesy of a try to Clint Newton adjacent to the posts. Johns made no mistake this time around and the Knights led 12-4.
A disallowed try to Willie Mason after knocking the ball on in the 27th minute only seemed to spur on the 'Dogs as they ran in two quick tries via an impressive Corey Hughes. His first attempt was straight from dummy half and the second came from some great lead-up work from Holdsworth and Grimaldi. El Masri converted both tries and the Bulldogs had themselves out in front with four minutes remaining.
The Knights however were keen to set the record straight and in the final moments of the half Anthony Quinn dove over for a vital try after some swift ball movement found Carmont out wide before unloading to Quinn.
The second half was shaping up to be a cracker and after 10 minutes of solid football from both sides, the Bulldogs broke the deadlock in the 51st minute after El Masri dove over for his second of the night. The conversion was no test for the point-scoring wizard as he put the Bulldogs out in front 22-16.
Just four minutes later five-eighth Daniel Holdsworth took on the line and shot straight through the sloppy Knights' defence before crashing over to score. El Masri added the extras after a slip-up and the Bulldogs were looking good at 28-16 with 25 minutes remaining.
The Knights then had their fair share of possession and in the end only had themselves to blame after George Carmont raced 60 metres only to have no team mate willing to play the roll of dummy half as the Bulldogs pounced on the loose ball.
Sonny Bill Williams was explosive out in the centres and after several busts down field his efforts finally paid off as the Bulldogs got themselves in good position to strike the deadly blow and the man to do the job was Hazem El Masri. Brent Sherwin was his accomplice as he threaded a neat grubber into the corner before Hazem completed the hat-trick of tries with a beautiful take. His attempt from the sideline hit the posts but the scoreline was enough to make him smile as the home side stretched out to 32-16.
The Knights then launched an attack on the Bulldogs with plenty of pressure applied to the 'Dogs defensive line before finally getting through in the 72nd minute with Quinn grabbing a double.
Handling errors then cost the Knights any chance of a miracle come-back and with just moments on the clock Bulldogs utility Reni Maitua joined the party after beating his opposite number with a good in-and-away to score in the corner. El Masri brought up his 600th goal with a successfull conversion fom out wide as the Bulldogs romped home 38-22 winners.

Parramatta have lost FuiFui MoiMoi for 7 weeks which rules him out for the rest of the rounds and the first round of the playoffs after pleading guilty to a high tackle on Sea Egles prop Brent Kite.
Rueben Wiki gets one week for an early guilty plea as well.
With 5 weeks of the comp to go my top 8 is this:
STORM
BULLDOGS
BRONCOS
SEA EAGLES
DRAGONS
EELS
COWBOYS
KNIGHTS
in that order...
i wonder how close i will be :)

Yeah, lots of people like to say that, but it all depends on the team... I think pretty much every time the Broncos won the comp they were invariably also the minor premiers, the Panthers were in 03 as well.
P.S In 04 we would have beat the cantebury pack rapists if Ricky Stuart picked someone other than Chris 'couldn't tackle a toddler' Walker on the wing marking Utai.

BRILLIANT BULLDOGS MAUL COWBOYS
The Mitsubishi Electric Bulldogs have cemented their place in the top two after winning their fifth match in a row with an impressive 54-14 victory over the Cowboys in Townsville tonight.
The Bulldogs arrived in North Queensland on Friday morning with the intentions of taking their game to the next level. They did just that as they piled on five unanswered first half tries to lead the hosts 30-0 at the break.
It all started in the 5th minute off the back of a good run from Willie Tonga. Asotasi was able to get a ball away in traffic before the 'Dogs spun the ball out wide for Andrew Emelio to score. El Masri made no mistake as the Bulldogs led 6-0.
The Bulldogs continued to apply the pressure and nearly came up with a second try minutes later however El Masri placed a foot into touch as the Cowboys fans breathed a sigh of relief.
Not for long though as the Bulldogs persisted in attack with Luke Patten scooting out of dummy half before linking up with Reni Maitua who burst through three defenders to score next to the uprights. El Masri added the extras and the 'Dogs were looking dominant early on.
The two sides then battled it out with the Cowboys throwing all they had at the Bulldogs line only to be repelled on several occasions. Cowboys captain Travis Norton didn't do his side any favours ten minutes out from the break when he reacted to a Willie Tonga tackle. The experienced Norton got up swinging as the two players exchanged blows before referee Paul Simpkins awarded a Bulldogs penalty.
Just minutes later the 'Dogs dove over for their third try as interchange forward Sonny Bill Williams was allowed too much room as he strolled through the defence to score an uncontested try. Hazem continued his kicking success as the Bulldogs jumped out to an 18-0 lead.
That simply wasn't enough for the Bulldogs though as they added a further two tries before the break with Luke Patten and Willie Tonga both scoring long-range tries to give the visitors a stunning 30-0 lead.
With the Cowboys season on the line tonight a much more committed performance was expected however the Bulldogs support play and defence was simply damaging. With that in mind the Cowboys had to score the opening try of the second half to have any hope of a miracle fight-back.
That miracle became the impossible just five minutes after the break as Sonny Bill showed his skill by putting a grubber through. El Masri gathered it up before slipping the ball to Emelio who dove over in the corner for his second of the match. El Masri slotted the conversion from out wide once again and the Bulldogs led 36-0.
The Bulldogs defence was looking unbreakable during the first 55 minutes of play however it finally cracked as the Cowboys enjoyed back-to-back sets on the 'Dogs line before scoring in the corner through Mark Henry. The conversion from out wide was unsuccessful and the scores remained 36-4 in favour of the Bulldogs.
Moments later the Nort Queenslanders were at it again, this time scoring after being given the benefit of the doubt from the video referee. Ashley Graham was awarded the four-pointer after he got the deflection from a well-weighted bomb to score out wide. The conversion was unsuccessful once again with the Bulldogs leading 36-8 with 20 minutes remaining.
The Bulldogs however were not going to let the Cowboys build a decent tally and with just over 15 minutes remaining Sonny Bill Williams made sure of that as he found himself on the end of a Roy Asotasi offload close to the line as he crossed for his second of the night. El Masri made it 7/7 with another successful conversion.
With just over ten minutes on the clock the Bulldogs were dealt a blow as halfback Brent Sherwin was sin binned after being judged to have stripped the ball on the ground. The 'Dogs paid the price immediately as the Cowboys crossed for their third try in the second half as Matthew Scott barged over the line. Graham converted and the scoreboard read 42-14 in favour of the visitors.
The Sherwin sin-bin was sure to put a hole in the Bulldogs defence however it only seemed to lift the blue-and-whites as they dove over for their eighth try with just five minutes remaining. This time Hazem El Masri got in on the act after the ball was sent accross field. He converted his own try as the Bulldogs eyed the half century, leading 48-14.
From the proceeding kick-off Willie Tona broke the line before unloading to winger Trent Cutler who raced away to put the icing on the cake. El Masri converted as he took the final score out to 54-14 along with grabbing a personal tally of 22 points.
The win puts the 'Dogs six competition points ahead of the Broncos, Sea Eagles and Dragons with just four rounds remaining before the finals.

Looks like its time to dig out my old Storm jersey...
I was there from the start you see, so I'm a true fan, not a bandwagoner (well, I did goto preety much all their home games in their First season in 1998).
ak47 - for the 6th time this year has had to dig into the pile of 'not needed clothing until next year'
every second week i chuck my raiders gear at the bottom of the pile
every second week i have to pull them back out
farkin raiders are a nightmare team to support this year
consistency is non existent, you dont know what to expect, you dont know who is turning up
if we beat south 2 weeks ago we'd be in top 4 :o
Still got the bye
not going to boast anything anymore.......until the final 8 is determined
It seems to be the best forumula for success

I never pack my Doggies shizz down to the bottom of the pile. I'm still proud even when we are losing.
The Bulldogs are the only thing keeping me happy at the moment.
Its hard for me not to get excited about the GF. Everyone is saying how its going to be a Storm/Bulldogs grand final. And every week that goes by its closer to being that. I don't wanna get my hopes up too much because anything can happen but everyone in the media are just going on and hyping us up lol.

i brought out the cricket gear early
but its back with the moth balls until the footy ends
well dragons in bit of trouble for comments nathan brown made about refree stephen clarke. they have been issued with a 15,000 breach notice
http://tvnz.co.nz/view/page/411749/809613
I think brown is expressing what lots of coaches fans etc think. the refs have been shocking this year. the nrl have no balls at all and instead of accepting their refs are bad they stick up for them at every opportunity.

Raiders!!!! :o :bravo:
golden points specialists
In the last 18 games we have kicked a FG - we have WON
7 seconds to go in golden point - Shif takes a dart from dummy and runs from 55m to 40m out - 15m dart - got carney into a position to slot a miracle - and he does the thing didnt go higher than 5m above the ground - line drive right over the black dot - raiders win 19-18, and cement their spot into the final race in september
Remember when we were wooden spoon favourites - hahahahah humble humble pie to all
GO THE MIGHTY GREEN MACHINE!!!!!!!! :bana: :bleh!: :bravo:

go to www.nrl.com and do the league ladder predictor. its on the main page right in the middle
if you work it out right the warriors can still make the top 8 O.o classic :)
i didnt think they even had a mathematical chance of making it.
i worked out the highest the eels can make is 3rd :)
yep the warriors could still make it. slim chance though they have to win every game then hope a team in the 8 basically loses all of their games. warriors would be in the 8 if it wasn't for the -4 points. i

after the replays, the officials officials (does that make sense?) said that they were the correct calls
so you will have to give it to carney, he played to the letter of the law. i to first thought he was off side, but if they reviewed the refs performance and it showed otherwise i back them

Correct
on the naked eye he looked offside
on replay when the ball passes the back ankle during the play the ball - carney can go.....the replay froze the shot when the dummy half picked it up which was 2 seconds after Carney had the right to go - which made him look offside
He was ONSIDE on the first FG attempt
That second though he was offside, by miles, and if the shoe were on the other foot - i'd be blowing up.
but again, the penalty count was 12-3 tigers
Mogg got tackled after playing the ball with 2 mins left, and we lost possession and no penalty was given
There are tonnes of dodgy's
Carney is the next Joey Johns - without the mouth :bleh!:

The Raiders team of that era was just ridiculously good. The buggers had a team that probably would have beaten GB and NZ by itself without too much trouble... heck most of em played for the Kangaroos! A team like that now would put you even further over the cap than the Bulldogs were in 2002 :bleh!: .

WOW! Bulldogs were pumped last night in an absolutely humiliating display against the Broncos!
Check this out:
Broncos crush wounded Dogs
By James Hooper
August 19, 2006 BRISBANE'S five-match losing "slump" is officially over but the title aspirations of the Bulldogs were placed on ice last night after star internationals Roy Asotasi and Willie Tonga suffered potentially season-ending injuries.
In a surprising and stunning upset, the Broncos returned to form as hooker Shaun Berrigan bagged a pair of tries against a 14-man Bulldogs squad decimated by injuries.
Compounding matters further for the Belmore outfit, Australia forward Willie Mason was placed on report for a high tackle that had Brisbane coach Wayne Bennett calling for the Bulldogs forward to be sent off.
In spite of the dramatic aftermath - and the Bulldogs being held scoreless for the first time since 2004 - coach Steve Folkes remained upbeat about the Dogs premiership tilt.
"There's a fair bit of doom and gloom in here and I don't feel there should be," Folkes said.
"The result is probably the kick in the backside we need before the semis, I'm disappointed but I'm not about to commit hari kari or anything."
Elated at ending a five-match losing sequence against the team running second on the NRL ladder, Bennett was relaxed and happy until quizzed about the Mason tackle on halfback Shane Perry.
But Folkes was swift to retaliate, declaring Mason had asked Perry where he hit him in the dressing rooms after the match and the Broncos halfback had replied "on the shoulder".
"I don't think you get sent off for that do you, hitting someone on the shoulder," Folkes said.
Mason confirmed he had spoken to Perry, saying: "He said it definitely hit him on the shoulder.
"I don't think I'll have much of a case to answer there unless they get me just for hitting him late. But I definitely didn't get him high.
"I was a bit worried there for a while, but hopefully the replay and the judiciary can give me a fair hearing.
Told Bennett had called for him to be sent off, Mason replied: "I was just talking to him then, he was just sort of geeing up, it probably would have been good for Brisbane if I got sent off but I don't think it was a send off offence, penalty sufficient."
The controversial call from Bennett added to a forgettable evening for under-pressure referee Steve Clark, who came up with a number of controversial decisions, denying both sides tries in the opening half due to dubious forward passes.
The Bulldogs had every right to be furious after fullback Luke Patten was robbed of what appeared to be a legitimate try in the 17th minute, but Clark ruled captain Andrew Ryan's final pass forward.
Only one minute earlier Brisbane's Steve Michaels appeared to be incorrectly denied, while Broncos winger Darius Boyd was also robbed of a certain try in the second half off a Justin Hodges pass that travelled half-a-metre backwards.
In all there were five forward passes for the evening but the questionable calls had no bearing on the final outcome as the Broncos made a stunning return to form.
Brisbane captain Darren Lockyer offered his view on the forward passes: "They all appeared to be very line ball."
The Broncos opening two tries came from close range with Tonie Carroll and Shaun Berrigan powering across before Brisbane opened the Bulldogs up from long range for their second and third efforts.
Broncos fullback Justin Hodges carved his way through to lay on a 70m movement for Berrigan to bag his second before Brent Tate raced 40m after Sam Thaiday split the Bulldogs in the dying stages.
The Bulldogs opted to rest super substitute Sonny Bill Williams with a jarred knee, only for his replacement Dallas McIlwain to suffer a shoulder injury to go with the corked thigh of Queensland Origin forward Nate Myles.
[/b]
Isn't this great news everyone? :D The Dogs have been smashed and copped injuries to a number of key players! and right in time for the finals! :D :D

I don't even care we lost. I'm more worried over Roy and Willie T.

Being down after the Stags game, was quite surprised to come back and see the blown out scoreline in that game.
I loved the early 90's Raiders especially 94. Can you help me here AK47, which game was it when Raiders had a scrum on their own 20, did a move where Brett Mullins (bless him) cut straight through the opposition backline to run 80 and score that year? Think it may have been a finals game...

Come now Kimmy, can you seriously say that if the shoe was on the other foot you'd have disagreed? Somehow I think that if Folks complained about a Broncos' high shot you wouldn't have minded.
yeh i agree with sanzar. while i support the broncos i am not going to be bias in saying that broncos are the best in the world and showed that last nite...they are definately the bench marks. Anyway continuing with my non-bias views i think u r being bias kimmy in saying willie shouldntv been put on report. He clearly did the wrong thing...if it wasnt high then it certainly was late! Willie went in there to hurt him...if he was trying to complete a decent takcle then he would have gone lower and come underneath his rib cage, lifted him up, drove him back and smashed him to the ground. Willie's intentions were blatantly obvious

ok the 8 is pretty much sorted with just the panthers able to come up.
if the eels take the the broncos i see them being a real thread (finally) in the finals :) i cant beleive i almost gave up on the season :)
thith the points difference only the raiders dragons and knights are in trouble of falling out of the 8. though saying that, the knights have a bye in the last round so they are secure. raiders v storm and v sharks if they lose both those games that is the only way they will drop out. i see them losing to the storm but not to the sharks.
the next two rounds will be crutial for the top 8 placings with 5 teams on 28 points. and if the sea eagles lose they could still finish at 5th.
its coming to that time of the year again!!!!
yep last few rounds will be interesting with only the teams in the first few spots guarnteed to finish where they are. big log jam of teams on 28 points and seeing who ends up where will be interesting.
Raiders will give melbourne a good run for their money this weekend
any game at canberra @ back end of season is a hard task for the visitors
Losing to Warriors wont do the confidence any good
I think we have a better chance to win this weekend than sharkes
Canberra away - worse than souths
Canberra @ home - can beat anyone on their day...hopefully our day come this weekend so i dont have to check my bloody pressure come round 26

no the warriors defintely can't make it. they are on 22 points with 2 games to go. the maximun points they can get is 26 and the team in 8th position is on 28 points.
the eels have been in good form wining a good numbe of games in a row. it will be interesting to see if they can keep the good form up coming into the finals

well two games to go, they are one of the hot teams to follow. as well as the dragons, storm (i am thinkin its only a minor hiccup against the warriors every good run has to come to an end sometime) and the bulldogs.
this competition is so close its awesome. the salary cap clearly works to an extent with the closeness of the teams. hopefully the air new zealand cup makes it just as competitive in the years to come

i cant beleive its been 26 weeks since i started this thread, and this is reply number 99 O.o thats aweful. it would have been great to get more people who are interested in both rugby and league into this board. It doesnt help that most kiwi supporters follow the warriors, who if they didnt lose those 4 points at the start of the season would be 7th equal and a good chance to be in the playoffs. Now it is down to 8 with just the last round chosing the final positions.
Lets go through the final weeks games aye...
Fri 1st Sept
Cowboys v Eels
The Cowboys havnt had the best of seasons. Only winning 10 so far and currently sitting on 24 points they cant make the top 8 so they are playing for pride. The eels on the other hand were stopped short of the best run home they have had in years after losing to the broncos last week and putting a dent in the sides chances at making the top 4. They had won 9 games in a row before being toppled 23-0. If they win they need to win by a decent margin to have any chance of securing a home semi.
Sat 2nd September
Sharks v Raiders
Sharks also are out of finals contention only winning 9 of their games this season. The raiders realistically can move up to 7th place with point differential being a big worry. they need to win by over 50 to change that. They also have the worst defensive record in the top 8.
Storm V Sea Eagles
A preview of a finals game perhaps? (not necisarily the gf but maybe a minor or a major who knows) sea eagles can only move down from here and need to put on a strong performance agains the storm to keep up a good leadin to the finals. They bet the bulldogs by a point last week can they pull it out again and beat the storm? The Storm, already secured the minor premiership will be touch as its at their home ground. they will also need to win to keep the momentum up leading into the final 8.
Roosters v Dragons
Dragons can move into 5th spot or drop down to 7th if they lose. Roosters dont look like beating an egg with a whisk at the moment so no problems there i wouldnt think. but they could also end up being left in 6th position.
Panthers v Bulldogs
panthers season over, bulldogs pretty much got second in the bag. would be good if they win but have been on a bit of a downward trend in the last couple of games. whoever they play in the finals will not be to worried as their form has been crap.
West v Rabbits....
who cares, really :)
broncos vs warriors.
will show the makeup of the top 8. Warriors will want a good win to finish the season on a high, havnt played to bad a fotty this year. if they hadnt lost those 4 points at the start they would be in the final 8. broncos finally out of their slump.
should be a decnet weekend of footy and will be great to see some finals coming up.
your thoughts on my thoughts?

remove that 70 point drubbing from knights in round 3-4 whatever and the raiders defense aint that bad
Just signed Nevil Costigan for next year - 2007 gets brighter and brighter
i hope we beat sharks, coz going to melbourne 1st week of finals is a deathwish

yeah it would be quite good if we could remove big losses like that. would be better if we could make the losses a win :) i would make last weeks loss of the eels agains the broncos a win. or at least give them a point or 2 :P

Ahaha take that Warriors.
Thank god Broncos are coming to their senses and starting to learn how to play for the whole game and not slack off because they are leading by 20 or so.
Dragons YOUR NEXT

Doh bloody Eels, all that form right out the window...
and then there were 8. roll on the finals !
should be pretty good series and some games in the latter weeks of the series should be crackers. first week looks pretty dull to me witth the pick of them proabbly the broncos v dragons. raiders and eels will proabbly not offer much in their matches so the chances of upsets from 7 and 8 are very slim. can't for the finals though should be good

EELS ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
damn i wish they won
eels will struggle to win next week. they have had no props for a few weeks now and guys like hindmarsh have just been working over-time and chewing up too much energy. even with a few coming back I can't see the eels going past week one of the finals.
the storm are the clear favourites for the title after being domiant all year. the broncos have suddenly come back into it after some good form over the last few games they have played.
WHAT ABOUT THE MIGHTY RAIDERS!!!!
wooden spoon favourites 26 weeks ago
No J Smith and still pulled off a win
That young Carney is coming of age just at the right time
No more Storm..............its Chump time at the mut house!!
Big Tom LL - LL cool Tom..............is back this week and will inject some size to the green pack.
Doggies were scetchy against the Rith.................best value bet of the week is raiders coz they will pay about $8.00 coz per usual....nobody will give them a chance
Getting my tix today.........havent been to a Raiders finals match since that nightmare against the Warriors in 2003.......where Jason Booga-f***ing-smelli dropped the ball over the line with 3 to go to win, only to see Stacey Drop Kick Jones........slot his middle name over the black dot.....right in my face........NOT THIS TIME BIATCHES!!!!
