View Full Version : European Questions
I realise a lot of you who have been to the training camps are more concerned with S12 etc, but was wondering if anyone could comment a bit about the european teams? ie. do they have correct kits/players etc. Think I read that it's not licenced but not sure what that means in terms of what we get and what we don't! Thanks in advance
Could someone check out the Euro teams at the next training camp for us northern hem boys? what teams, kits stadiums etc?? PLEASE Think its the only mystery left in the game!

Yeah, good call.
I don't think anyone lives in Perth here, so it's Melbourne on the 28th and Brisbane on March 2nd.
The new/different teams in the Heiny Cup:
2004/05
Bath
Harlequins
Newcastle
Glasgow
Castres
2003/04
Leeds
Sale
Celtic
Borders
Agen
i can't imagine any of the SH boys even touching any of the NH teams at the training camp. Mind you if we were in the same situation we wouldn't play as any SH teams either.

lmao thats true.....sadly
If you're prepared to wait I'll have a quick look at some of the NH teams. First four or five listed only. One team per person.
Very decent of you Wally! I think there's a few (myself included) who would like to know about bath, but I reckon by looking at just a couple of teams we'll know what kind of accuracy we can expect from the others! I was just wondering if Locks or someone had looked already, those people who have had more prolongued experience with the game?
can you check out Leinster for us? Do they have proper kits and crests?

... even if you just manage to check any of the 3 Irish teams involved (Leinster, Munster, Ulster) to see what way the kit/crest is shown - if one of these teams are authentic that means the other 2 will be aswell as they all come under the one deal with the IRFU license
... that is the case isn't cavan? they wouldn't get the IRFU license and not use it in full (i.e for the provinces too) would they?

Could you check for Bath too?

Northampton please. Think there are a few other Saints fans on the board who would quite like to know this as well.

bath please. basically what needs checking is one of the teams listed earlier, cos that will show which year it is. and if they have official stuff or not, that will show if the comp is licensed. simple.

Okay, slightly off topic, but since we're all tugging on Wally's coattails . . .
Wally, I know they have the USA Eagles licence, but can you actually check to see if the USA Eagles are in the game?
Just kidding.
But could you check to see what other International Teams are in there other than the qualifying teams for the World (Cup) Championship.
Spain will be in there because of 1999.
Georgia will be there because of 2003.
Namibia will be there because of 1999 & 2003.
But because they have the audacity to have the 2007 Cup there are spots up in the air such as Chile, Morocco, Portugal, and, apparently, Korea (they're 21st in the IRB rankings. Tonga is 19th)
Cheers.
Okay. Bath, Northampton, Newport, Leinster and other teams. Got it.

Cheers Wally.
as far as i know the IRFU licence should guarantee the provinicial licences too. I'm hoping wally can confirm this for me.

These screens not only show that Bath and Cardiff are in, but the ground that Bath are playing the Blues (Auckland, not Cardiff) on looks strikingly like The Rec (i.e. the low far stand, trees and Georgian-looking terrace house and the Hamptons/Teachers stand).
Cool

Jeez, if a dump like the Rec gets in the game then I will definately be on the hunt for Franklins Gardens http://www.therugbyforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif
Those pictures are useful though, they clear up the European licenses issue, and also show how good the face models are. I recognised Olly Barkley straight away.

yeah im pretty confident thats the rec. how long have those screenshots been about? it answers all european questions in one go! ie this years teams, unofficial kits but pretty damn good all the same.

Yeah, it does. At least they seem to have made an effort with the kits this time. Bath's strip looks quite realistic, other than the missing sponsor, logo etc.

I'm glad to see there are a decent number of NH teams, but I'm still puzzled why EA will not include the Zurich Prem, the Celtic League et al. and just make one big european one instead.

Maybe because the exclusive rights for the NFL + the Exclusive rights for the ESPN brand cost them so much they couldn't afford to spend another dollar on licensing.
or maybe they are just plain dumbasses.

A Dump? the georgian architecture in bath provides one of the most beatiful back grounds for a rugby ground in the country! As opposed to Northampton, where the only distinguishing feature is that big tower the tests lifts in!

I second that. The Rec is gorgeous. Bath is gorgeous.
I ate ostrich steak at some weird/kinda-posh restaurant that was tucked away off one of the streets -- very good.

The rec is one of the nicest grounds around, but just cos someone dosent like it dosent mean its a "dump". I personally think "Franklins Gardens" is the best in the premiership. or even in league rugby (well one of them anyway)
Nothing personal I just feel that way. Been to Bath and it is a nice little place. nice and quite.

Lol, I was kidding. Note the " http://www.therugbyforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif " face next to my post. It is very scenic. Our actual stadium is better though.

Ahmen Brother!
In terms of its setting, The Rec can't be beaten unless you're actually playing rugby on Natalie Portman's backside.
In terms of the stadium though, Franklin's Gardens is the clear winner even though The Rec has improved the last few years. Saints fans should be proud of it; it'll be the best ground in Division 1 next year.

That is harsh. only two seasons ago you where fighting relegation like us, you dont need to rub it in. But if we do get relegated i will still stick by the team knowmatter what.

Just remember Boy, we still won the first game of the season! http://www.therugbyforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif
Anyway, regardless of your opinions on the Rec or the Gardens, at least neither of us play at the prem's real dumps - those being The Stoop or Welford Road! http://www.therugbyforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

Worst ground has to be Headingly. That's a real shit hole. Does anyone remember what Bristol's pitch used to be like when they were in the Prem? Always covered in sand because it was so cut up. If they get promoted they better had made some improvements.

Haha, they won't, they'll be playing beach rugby.

Yeah not keen on Headingley at all. It's as if it was built in the 40's and no-one has touched it since.
Saracens ground is pretty horrible too (i know technically it's watford poofball's ground), and the fac tthat it's always over half empty somehow makes it look shitter.
Spent my birthday there last season, of all places, had a tremendous steak before hand i seem to remember, but i digress.
