Hi guys.

I'm opening a new thread as i have Rugby 08 now and will start patching and modding graphics very soon.

This will include Club kits, International Kits and all manner of graphics ranging from logos, banners, minikits and anything else that needs updating. Please be patient, but mods, patches and graphics updates will come soon.

Some things i have lined-up..

- Retro Guinness / Allied Dunbar / Zurich Premiership kits
- Retro International Kits and Roster (AKA Legend's patch)
- 2007-08 Club and International Kit updates for remaining teams if they haven't been done yet.

Ok, coming up next is the Official Magners League Ball for Magners League teams. Just testing them now.

I am also doing a Heineken Cup ball, and possibly an Italian Super 10 and French Top 14 ball, if there is such a thing.

I have also made a Guinness Premiership logo mod pack.

Have to test them out, hopefully they will work. I want to also add fly-in logo for Guinness Premiership, like you have for Sky Sports.

I will post screenshots tonight hopefully. For some reason EAGE won't open certain files for me to edit the transparency. It worked for the Sky Sports logo for some reason.

If anyone has any other programs they use, please let me know!

Right here is the score.

The Magners League ball works fine. Looks nice, just trying to post up a screenshot. I can edit every ball in the game, so i will try to work on that at some stage.

Also, the Guinness Premiership fly-in logo works, and i have made it transparent and i'm testing it now. Here's hoping it works. However, the logos for the menu select have not overwritten.

Will post screenshots and downloads tonight, i hope.

Yes, the RWC ball is in the game, and it's just for the RWC mode. That's all I know for now

For the roster, it's going great, I even modified some faces à la ross munro (basically, I only add/delete headgears), everything is updated down to the boots :D

Wales, Australia and Italy have their own designs, which i couldn't find latest versions of. If i find them at some stage, i will update them too.

I will try to post screenshots of all the national team balls tonight, and also the full download modpack.

Of course you can extract more than one file, at least with BigGui, not sure about DOLFFIN though
But don't worry, I'm looking for the location codes you need as I speak

I only use bigGUI to extract .big files and then fshED to import the bmp back into the .big. I use EAGE to make the background transparency of the .fsh and have managed to make some nice clear logos.

What i will probably do is make an outline border for the logos (like a circle), rather like EVOL did for Samoa's fly-in last time as it is hard to get high-res logos of some teams, especially the likes of Namibia etc.


I am wondering with minikits if taking a screenshot of the menu select background will work, as you can then just put the template over it and it will look seamless. I noticed some of Uli's minikits look a bit jagged around the edges, whereas mine looked much cleaner.

I have a whole list of minikit location codes, but will need Portugal.

I will say, that the matchballs i have made look very nice. They look 100% better with crstt812's gilbert template, and i just added the extra graphics such as logos and other things, like ball surface texture.

Need to get screenshots of them all at some stage.. but hopefully before the weekend.

That's okay, but for the minikits look in csrtt815's thread, because the 06 location codes are not the same for 08

In a few minutes I'm done finding the location codes for the logos, just hang in there :)

Yes, you're right, I used his modpacks as a base, to know exactly where to look
The 256x256 is indeed the fly-in, but for the scoreboard logos, I think there are other files too

Good news Fran, i have got the fly-in logos working in the game.. it took a few attempts to find what file does what, but with the psd files they come out almost perfect everytime.

So far i have found that the files replace the score overlays, the fly-in logo, the logo on the controller select (in-match menu) and some other small logos which i have not tried yet.

More good news is that i have got great resolution images for the logos from wikipedia and now all thats left is to do the RWC ones. Not sure if i will find many good 256x256 sized logos for Namibia, Portugal etc but i will look.

I have to extract all the files for the clubs as they all have different files, but the ones i have working are really good and clear.

A modpack for all remaining logos could be done in a couple of weeks, possibly before xmas at the latest.

PS: I usually ain't vain, but I wish you could see how the roster is. Among other things, I corrected EVERY headgear so far, so Hasan Jalil and Barnes have a black-and-white scrum cap, Bortwhick and some Fijans a black-and-blue one, Worsley an orange tape, Thion a black-and-orange one, Georgians with the water-blue one, and so on... I would really like to send it to you when I'm done so you can test it. And again, I'm NOT vain :P

Ok here is the latest update..

I have updated all game logos (club, international) and they all work fine.

I adjusted crstt812&#39;s Heineken Cup logos as they filled the whole 256x256 and they look much better IMHO without a custom made background.

However i haven&#39;t tested Newport Dragons logos, and i think a problem might occur there as EA did not name 6 different files in the file, like 1ne
2ne, 3ne, 4ne, 5ne, 6ne but put two different 1ne&#39;s in there, so as one updates, so does the other. One should be 128 and the other 256, but they are both 256.

This probably won&#39;t cause a problem, as i can&#39;t actually find where the 128x128 and 64x64 logos are in the game. So, it shouldn&#39;t matter.

The flags are very easy, but mine look bland and dull. Tell me what you think Fran.

I would like to ask suggestions for a theme for the flags from you guys.

I had a few ideas which are..

- National Flag with small club logo overlaying
- Club colour stripes with small logo overlaying
- Single colour flag with small logo overlaying
- Big overlaying logo, like they look now with club colours background

Fran, i tryed your menu music patch and it is very, very good!

All the tracks are great, real rugby type anthems and they all come up with the right text, so all is good.

Finally, i can turn the menu music back on. :)

The only bugbear i noticed was that on the first track in particular it seems quiet, but this hardly matters if you turn up the speakers up a bit and tune down the menu sfx.

Great patch!

All we need to do now is make the minikits, score overlays (which i will figure out) and the flags/banners.

Seeing as there is only really me and you active editing for the time being, it might take a while.

I can make all the graphics, it&#39;s just a case of taking out the fake ea logos from the banners etc. The rest is not noticable and i can live with.

But, certainly with everyone&#39;s effort so far this game looks much better, more realistic and plays better.

We are going to have to have a TRF Rugby 08 Patch Of The Year award!

In Georgia&#39;s there&#39;s a very little problem of transparency, in the little round at the bottom there&#39;s a white spot instead of a transparent one

For Fiji, maybe you should do it whitish like the ABs one (just a thought). The same for Portugal text

Maybe in Namibia&#39;s you should make the black transparent (and maybe in Georgia too)

As long as you don&#39;t hate the logos, i am happy. It&#39;s good enough for the patch. As i mentioned before, it&#39;s just the two of us recently to do all the editing. I try to make what i can when i can to a good quality.

The logos ARE very good, and like you said, they&#39;re way better than the fake ones. It&#39;s that I&#39;m a perfectionist, but if you can&#39;t or won&#39;t modify them anymore, it&#39;s ok ;)

Ok, looked through your files Fran for the pitch logos, and i have now added sky sports logo instead of the ea sports logos.

I will do this for all competitions and teams if i can.

If you play any competition, or at home with argentina, you will notice an EA sports logo on the grass, like the UAR one. Now it is replaced, with sky sports.

Will get a screenshot in a few minutes i hope.

I have lots of files and mods floating around my PC at the moment like this and hopefully i will release them soon.

There may be a few files missing in some or extra files because i test them before i get screenshots etc but hopefully before xmas i can release all my indexed kits, graphics, mods all on one page and they can all be downloaded in one place rather than go through loads of pages of my threads.

Me and Fran could release a superpatch.. which would be the full graphics update for Rugby World Cup, 2007-08 club and National Team rosters plus full roster and graphics update for Super 14, Guinness Premiership, Heineken Cup etc.

It won&#39;t be hard, but there is that MASSIVE music file, which is best to have separate.

FAO Ciais.. while i&#39;m here talking about music.big i notice the music is switched on in my game settings now, but it doesn&#39;t start when i load the game. Do you think i need to make a new savegame?

I notice when i loaded my 06 occasionally the savegame/roster would not load as it was not picked-up by the game and the music would start automatically. EA Trax don&#39;t appear for me, unless i go to the audio section and load them.

FAO Eric1566, I will very soon be updating every Perpignan graphic in the game.

Just in case i&#39;m wrong, what kinds of designs do Perpignan have for their flags? I know of course red and yellow. Any other colours?

I like to have checkered flags, stripes, stripes on background, plain and also fading colours for my banners.. are any of these considered wrong for French teams?

Checkered flags in red/yellow and red/white look really cool in the game IMHO. I did a Biarritz one that is like their away shirt, green and red checks, like the shirt.

All in all, patches are coming along very nicely, apart from the fact that EA for some reason make 2 different files for the same thing and only one of them works!

I am making banners for the game, and i thought it&#39;d be a nice touch to have slogans on the flags too, like &#39;Go, Go team&#39;, but in different languages.

However, as i am not multi-lingual i would appreciate if you speak spanish, french, italian, russian, portuguese, georgian and other countries that play rugby like Fiji, Tonga etc if you can post a message with a slogan in your language.

I will add these to the flags for the relevant teams.

The foreign characters actually came out fine in photoshop, apart from the N, which i reversed.

I think the torototoy wants the 2007-08 blue version of the fleur kit, which i won&#39;t have time to make. I think that is replacing the normal blue kit they have had, unless they have 4 kits..

There is Samoa away kit and USA red one, too

I found a way to import a transparent image thru fshED&#39;s graphics importer into a fsh with the same names, like jbck jbck jbck etc
You have to hex-edit these names, which are at the beginning of the file, into jbc0 jbc1 jbc2, so the prog reads them as different names
You import the transparent image for any of them, save, and hex-edit the names to the original ones. I just tried it and it works in-game

For the time being i won&#39;t be editing anything licensed that is correct. For example, i won&#39;t edit banners for France because unless there is a request specifically, they already have correct logos.

As it is, i am the only one editing graphics of any kind for the moment as everyone else is either out of action/busy or doing other stuff, like Ciais.

I am slowly working my way through what i can do. Changes are it won&#39;t all get done unless i get some modders back on the forum making minikits and kits.

I don&#39;t think it&#39;s possible unfortunately, I don&#39;t remember that there&#39;s a song during the teams entrance, so we can&#39;t replace that :(

If you want something quick, i need major help making the shoulder lines for 2 of my kits. They are complete, but i can&#39;t get the lines to match. if you want to i can email you the psd&#39;s for Gloucester (1 kit) and Wasps (1 kit) and you can alter the lines and email them back.

I have done pretty much all graphics apart from minikits (which i am not good at yet) and score overlays (which come out looking odd).

That&#39;s all there is to do, apart from some club kits which i am doing myself and the 3 RWC kits. I will do Samoa away, as i made half the original that Uli85 completed.

The Japan can be altered from your 06 one EVOL, and the Namibia is from scratch.

What do you think?

I really reaslly want to mod 06/08, but every time i try and mod i get stream read error!! If anyone can do an idiots guide. I can do some kits as well.

Jeffb,

To edit kits you need the following programs:

- Photoshop or image editor.. like MS Paint or PaintShop Pro.
- FshED (i prefer it) + graphic importer plug-in (vital for the process)
- BigGUI

Here is how you do it.

KITS

1. Make your kit 512x512 image in photoshop.
2. Save it as psd, psp, jpg, bmp, png or whichever image file you use.
3. Open a kit.fsh file in fshED and use graphic importer to import the file.
4. Update the file and save the file over the file you opened.

KITBACKS

1. Make your kit 256x256 image in photoshop.
2. Save it as psd, psp, jpg, bmp, png or whichever image file you use.
3. Open xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.fsh file in fshED and use graphic importer to import the file. This will have 22 files called jbck. You need to change the names of the jbck files to be able to use psd files. You do this by going to object>edit and there is a part where you can alter the name of jbck. Change it to jbc1 or jbca and click update. Do this for the 22 files and then import your 22 kitbacks.
4. Update the files as you do them and save the file over the file you opened.

Next stage..

1. Open BigGUI and find the .big file for your teams kit. It will open and should have two files: config.bin and kit.fsh. Import the kit.fsh you saved and it will save the old one.

Then find the files on your PC (i put them in one big folder or in seperate ones for kits) and then copy them to

HDD://Program Files/EA Sports/EA Sports Rugby 08

Graphics Importer is a plugin for fshED, you can grab it here: http://download.nba-live.com/pafiledb.php?...=file&id=11 (http://download.nba-live.com/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=11)

Extract it in the plugin folder of fshED

With it you can import PSDs, PNGs, etc., just click on Tools ---> Graphics Importer, open the file you want to import, and update

Jeff,

I will email you my kitback file. It has renamed subfiles, which means you can import any file with ease. I found if you don&#39;t edit them from being all the same name, they just save over the first one only.

Follow Fran&#39;s instructions.

Here is what i do, as it can get complex.

- Make a new folder somewhere on your PC.
- Call it &#39;Wigan&#39; or whatever team you want.

- Open the new folder and make another two new folders and call them Home and Away

- Copy my kitback template into the home and away folders, and also a kit file and a .big file that you know has a similar collar.

- Then rename the kitback templates to the location codes you want (i can send a list to you) and make sure you have them correct for home and away.

- Open up fshED and open the kitback file. Import each kitback image file (you need 22 for a kit) in order from 1-22 and save over the file you are working on.

- Open the .big file with bigGUI and then import the kit.fsh file into the kit.fsh file in the .big file. This saves the changes.

- Find the files in the folders you made and copy them directly to the game directory.

Job done.

I have done this 10 times today as i updated all the teams kitbacks and some other kits.

I think it&#39;s very possible. I can make the Super 14 a Top 14, with correct fixtures and such, and maybe a random Heineken Cup

Could never start RC2006. Did aload of modding of it, but crashed everytime at the kick off of a game. That was bloody awkward as well for modding. RL1 & RL2 are far easier to mod.

I have noticed several new kits coming out for 2008-09, like Saints, Saracens, Bristol, Newcastle (i think they lost nike) and Worcester that i know of.

I will make these club kits and any others i can find and they will be part of a &#39;MUPdate&#39; before the end of the year.
