    Soccer?

Whoever referred to it as the 'Soccer World Cup' is barking mad.

Soccer is the abbreviated name for Association football, as coined by the FA when the rules of the game were first drawn up.

"Football" is a generic term used for team sports (Including Soccer, Rugby, League, Gridiron, Gaelic, AFL and several others), always used as an abreveation for the the most popular form of it in that particular country. So in the UK, it's Soccer. In Australia, it's AFL. In America, it's Gridiron.

The Rugby Forum is an international forum, therefore it's the Soccer World Cup.

Anyone who says otherwise is a Marxist.

No, it's actually "The World Cup". Not "The Football World Cup".

Therefore, on TRF, it's "Soccer World Cup".

    Now... Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhh!

It's in South Africa, and we call it soccer. Not Football. Therefor, Soccer World Cup 2010 is appropriate. Thanks Bullit.

Heres something just a little bit different...
New Zealand Soccer had their name changed a couple of years ago to be New Zealand Football (I think thats right but could have association in there)
not that it really matters, because new zealand shouldnt count, even though we bet serbia

    yeah i went there.

The FIFA World Cup, also called the Football World Cup or the Soccer World Cup, but usually referred to simply as the World Cup, is an international association football competition contested by the men's national teams of the members of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the sport's global governing body. The championship has been awarded every four years since the first tournament in 1930, except in 1942 and 1946 when it was not contested because of World War II.
