    vBookie Tutorial

    What is it?

Some of you might have noticed and some of you haven't. Since the 25th of April we have been able to add a little extra to the excitement that rugby matches already bring to us. On TRF it is possible to bet on matches. Not with money, but with vCash.

Most of you have seen the vCash in your profile and seeing that a lot of people are still stuck on 500 after 4 months, shows that a tutorial and explanation of what it is and how to use it might help.

Where can I find the matches to bet on?

When you browse through the forums, you might see threads that have a dollar sign in front of the name. This means that a vBookie event is added to the thread and it's possible to bet. It is also possible to jump straight to the vBookie section which is accessable by clicking the button underneath the TRF logo on the top of the page.

    How does it work?

You can bet the vCash you have available in your account. When you succesfully betted on the winner, you will get your earnings once the bets are settled. This can only be done by moderators and administrators. If you are unfortunate and picked the wrong team, your vCash that was used in the bet goes down the drain.

    Who makes the bets?

As mentioned before, vBookie is a betting system we installed on the forum. It is just for fun and there is no real cash involved. The vBookie events are added by moderators and administrators. We plan to add a vBookie event to every match thread but we cannot guarantee that every match will have one.

If by any chance a match thread does not have a vBookie event yet and you would like to bet, you can ask one of the moderators or administrators to add an event.

Well, that sounds fun, but how do you get those odds right?

A very good question which can be easily answered. The qotations are, when possible, based on the numbers Bwin.com uses. Not all the matches are available on Bwin and in that case, we will base the quotations on other sources. The quotations include the amount you put into the bet.

    Example:

When you bet on Leinster, you get 1.40 for every vDollar you bet. This means that for 250 vDollars you put on Leinster, you get 350 vDollars back.

    Any questions?

    Q. What happens if I go vbroke?
    A. You can't go vbroke. If you bet it all and lose, you'll find 250 vCash in your account the next day.

    Q. Can vcash be donated to others?
    A. No.

Q: Can my bet(s) be reversed or negated?
A: Once a bet is placed, it cannot be reversed.
If you bet twice for the same team by mistake, Mods/Admins cannot go in and give the vcash for one of those bets back to you. We simply don't have the ability to do so. Please be cautious when placing your wagers and review your bets before you hit return.

I have a comment that I have repeated several times. The conversion between decimals and fractions is not being done correctly. A 1.40 in decimals equals a 2/5 in fractions, not a 7/5. The problem with this is that the moderators are entering the odds in decimals and giving the stakes back in fractions, so basically it is too easy to double your money. For instance, suppose the All Blacks were playing Portugal. The All Blacks would yield 1.01 or something, so when entering this, vBookie will translate this to 101/100, which means that you can double your money on a sure bet!

I've been given the answer that the program is made that way and the moderators can't really solve it, so my suggestion would be that the moderators enter the odds in fractions, which is what the program deals with correctly. So the odds for the ABs against Portugal would be 1/100, and would show as 0.01 in decimals, which doesn't really make sense but no one would care, as the prize would be given the correct way.

This has been modified. It's a bit confusing because the odds we get from Bwin, are used by them in a different way.

If Bwin gives you 4.30, that includes the money you put into the bet. It's 4.30 incl. bet
vBookie gives you 4.30, which does not include the money you put into the bet. It's 4.30 excl. bet

I will keep an eye on the vBookies we make from now on, to ensure things are done the right way.

The link to the vBookie section has disappeared. I can't find any way of accessing that section now.

Yeah, the tab seems to have disappeared since the upgrade.
I think we are working on a few things still. I'll ask and let you know shortly.

Cheers. Was just wondering how much I'd won on the Leinster v O's game

12,000, Dull. Along with the Ireland draw, you are making some good vCash.
I almost put some on the match, but ended up putting my money on the Sharks by +7. Gio ******* Aplon...

Not a bad amount. I changed my mind at the last second about putting my vCash on Harlequins, god damn Leicester pedigree changing my mind.
