I can't wait for the season to get started, who do you think are the favourites Melon? The team I started following North Queensland made some good progress last year, but the gap between 5th and 10th place last year was quite narrow.

Mate to be honest I think Manly and Melbourne will be at the forefront of the competition once again.

Brisbane will have a fairly good crack however they are now well and truly in to the rebuilding stage. Whilst Brisbane in my opinion have the best roster of youths in the competition they have brought back "Petrol Seventy-Cents-a-Litre" for the season to help develop the up and coming forwards. By 2013 hopefully the pups will be up to speed with the likes of Hannant and Parker. With this being Petero's last year and Lockyer being out of the picture already expect to see Brisbane buy the off contract Jonathan Thurston for next year. Brisbane may not be a huge threat for the title this year but mark my words, watch out in the near future.

Canberra will once again scare the front runners on occasion however will fall over in terrible fashion as per usual.

Wests Tigers should threaten for a top four position but I'm a bit iffy - It all really depends on how Marshall and Farah fire.

Will Inglis finally make his mark at South Sydney? Will the loss of Sandow hurt them too much? All I can see from them is flickers of promise but once again they'll struggle for the eight.

Cronulla will continue to be embarrassments.

I'm looking forward to seeing Newcastle this year. Coach Bennett. Boyd. Uate. Gidley. 'Nuff said! Throw in Buderus to fill a position much like Petero at the Broncos and you have a recipe for instant success. If Tahu gets over himself and plays proper footy he'll help the Knights to no end. If Melbourne and/or Manly don't make the team then Newcastle will definitely be there!

Unfortunately I see St George as being no real threat to the title this year.

So, in conclusion i believe Melbourne, Manly and Newcastle will be the front runners with Brisbane and Wests trailing close behind.

How do you rate the Warriors? I'm not a fan (the opposite actually) but am interested in seeing how they go. People over here rate them as genuine title contenders and apparently there are people from over the Tasman who agree. Personally, I think they will sneak into the top 8 and that their run at the closing stages of last season was quite deceptive.

They definitely have the potential but that's been the issue with the Warriors since 2002. They have soooo much talent across the board. When they're hot, they're HOT! It's like touch footy...they throw the ball around, can't be touched and score tries left, right and centre.

Look at their roster - Friend, Inu, Lillyman, Locke, Mannering, Mateo, Rapira, Vatuvei, Tate, Berrigan. They are literally THAT good...on paper...

Berrigan had the potential to make a huge impact when he was recruited at the end of 2010 but failed to do much in 2011. The same goes for Tate over a longer period of time however unfortunately he is one of the most injury prone players in the NRL.

I really don't know how they'll go. I think they'll be kicking around on the same level as the Bulldogs and North Queensland with the likes of the Titans and Penrith below them.

I say they'll make the eight. Only just.

I think Manly's title hopes ended with the departure of Hasler.

Melon - Warriors did not have Tate last year (he went to the Cowboys, but was injured). Berrigan has gone to the Raiders (i think its the Raiders anyway)
Though the Warriors do have Shaun Johnston - one of the most exciting prospects in teh NRL (he scored one of the best tries last year). he is coming on in leaps and bounds.

The bookies have Manly, Melbourne, Tigers, Broncos and Warriors all paying around or under the NZ$8 mark to win the whole thing.

I have never thought this before, but I think the Warriors will go all the way this year. And as they are paying $8 for it, i'm going to put my money where my mouth is

Looking forward to the season starting up - I never get to watch that many matches due to time difference (SuperRugby is better as the NZ/South Africa matches are at a reasonably hour, but matches in Australia are usually too early for me)

Going to be following Rabbitohs (for the Burgess brothers) and Penrith Panthers (our clubs new coach played for them - or at least came through their academy and played some for their 'A' side, I think he played for their main side a few times too(?), before moving to Wales)

Awww son...you sound just like Gus Gould who said last year in his SMH.com.au write up and the Sunday Roast that the Warriors wouldn't crack the top 8 in 2011.

Warriors, Junior Warriors & Akl Vulcans lined up for the GF.

We'll see - I'm backing the Warriors, they're a year older bit more experienced (especially Mateo & Inu) - going to blood some fresh talent in Hurrell, maybe even give Fisiahi some more time on the field. It's going to be a big season. They've got decent coverage in most areas.

I see Manly outside the Top 4 this year. I'm not too sure Toovey has the same force of personality to drive his team to the finals.

    Storm
    Knights
    Warriors
    Tigers

Dude, whats the name of the Sale Sharks coach?

Anyway i predict the top 4 to be: Brisbane, Penrith, Newcastle and NQ Cowboys (In no particular order). Penrith out of all the teams in pre-season have not gone full out in terms of signings, instead losing some key players such as Petero ten cents a litre, and Waterhouse to Warrington. However, i still think they have the potential. Brisbane just have so much strength in depth in particular in the front row, a coachs dream having to decide whether you play Petero or Hannent, and then you have Thaiday, Parker, Gillett, etc to add, with the backline consisting of Norman, Hodges, Yow-yeh, Reed to name some. I support both of these teams, and want them to do well.

Melbourne, Warriors, Souths, and Parramatta will make out the remaining top 8, with Parramatta to win the comp. Souths have the best pack in the comp, and i reckon the world, just look at them having crocker, asotasi, taylor, burgess, luke and if they can dominate their opponents, they can unleash their good backline. I hope St George come last, because they play the most boring brand of footy around. (playing aside) they remind me of St. Helens.

Brother, give me some of what you're on!!!

You musn't be that high though because you're talk about Brisbane is right on the money and South isn't too far off either.

I'm tipping Souths to pip Penrith tomorrow afternoon...I think they'll be too strong.

Cowboys looked awful in Round One but were all right last week, their have been some pretty good games so far, I still think teams are getting things sorted out as it is early days. Caught the Knights and Broncos game and was expecting a lot more from the Knights at home.
