    wales are massivly overrated

another win down under for scotland! and another debut try scorer, maybe scotland should play southern hemisphere opposition instead of 6 nations and we might do well! also good to see wales choke again, for me the welsh are massivly overrate and shouldnt be considered the best northern hemisphere side untill they can consitently beat southern hemisphere sides. in the last 3 years they have only beaten argentina, samoa x2, fiji and namibia. compared to scotland who have beat australia home and away, samoa home and away, fiji, home and away, south africa, and argentina twice away.

I admit wales do have lots of quality individuals in their side and most of the lions back next year will probably be welsh though

    does anyone else agree?

I was waiting for this sort of gobshite post. Yet again sir, you live up to the "retarded" part of your username.

Shall we analyse Scotland for a sec. A win over an Australian B-team in conditions usually seen in Dunfermline in December. And then scrappy wins over Samoa and Tonga, 2 nations that perennially underachieve and them themselves are overrated. Oh, and Scotland are the worse side in the 6 nations and could be considered THE worst 5/6 nations team ever.

And Wales, we are the Grand Slam champions for good reason, since the RWC we have been consistently the best side in the NH, ignore the French who stumbled to and were gifted a final place by one of their own refs. Yes we lost 3-0 to the Aussies and didn't play as well as we can but we got close in each game and ran them close.

Oh and congrats for getting someone to bite to your WUM-ing.

... whilst also away from home and with the interpretations of a Super15 ref.

To me, it seems as if there's a non-existent gap between Wales (and England) and Australia (and South Africa).

Wales may be overrated, but at least they are better than Scotland. Shut up.

    Good stuff.
I'm all in favour of not sending our boys to Aus next year. We need to focus on 2015, not injuring our players for another season in sad series that reeks of the amateur era.
Considering the best Scottish back is Dutch, well...

@Duck. This will sound odd, but thank you so much for typing shoo in. I always wonder what footwear has to do with a guaranteed selection.

Yeah I think so. They've had so many opportunities to step up and haven't. Unless they get a big Southern Hemisphere scalp in the AIs then they'll be going into the 6n weaker than they were last year, and without much to back up their world cup and 6n hype.

At the very least Wales should have won one game against Aus this tour and looking ready to beat them at home in the AIs. THen they'd be looking at 2 all over a year against a big SH opponent. That sort of result is what I'd call improvement.

this seams to have come out wrong and i apologize, all i meant to say was that to be considered one of the best teams you should be beating the big 3 reguarly which wales haven't done. i know the mind set is different for one off games like these test series rather than 6 nations/ world cup which the welsh seem to excel in. also to those saying it was an aussie b team scotland played, it wasnt exactly scotland most experience team, grant, laidlaw, scott, brown, hogg. Oh and in 2009/10 it wasnt exactly a second string aussie/south african side and besides in 10 years time no one will remember is was a weekend aussie side, it will be seen as a scottish win.

oh and too the person who said scotlands best back is dutch, england's best back is samoan

Everybody knows Wales under performed in Australia but stating they are massively overrated is a bit of an overstatement.

Until another team is crowned 6N champions I don't think anyone can question our credentials as the current NH best.

Just thought I'd point out your redundant statement. To be the best NH team all you have to do is beat the other NH teams, which is what we just did. And if Australia put the same squad out that they did against you then they wouldn't have won the series.

I completely agree with your first paragraph however I don't get how you conclude that a french referee gifted them a place in a final. Wales have lacked the ability to close out some big games in the southern hemisphere (maybe due to a lack of fans being there?). However as grand slam champions and fourth place WC team, Wales had every right to rate their chances of victory in Australia.

Oh dear. The gap only narrows when dodgy reffing decisions give the NH sides a massive leg up as has been the IRBs clear intention over the last 10 years in a pathetic attempt to make union a "world" game. England won an entire world cup campaign thanks to this mantra. End of.

Sorry are you saying that England got to two world cup finals because the ref's were instructed to go easy on them to narrow the gap?

You must have missed the memo, the England side of 2002/2003 had no backs, and we never scored a try.
Jason Robinson? Figment of your imagination.
    Will Greenwood? Never existed.

    etc.

Australia were carried in the '03 final by 'dodgy reffing decisions'.

    and as for Tim Payne...

Yes and no. Wales clearly are the best NH side just now, but they are overrated in the sense that they thought they were going to beat Australia. And if I remember the build up to the first test correctly, quite easily too.

how are they "clearly" the best NH side? their performances in the Six Nations against England and Ireland in 6N were impressive but not dominant in a way that would justify such a statement.
