    The local Jukskei Derby...

This is going to be a hard as nails battle!

So far the only casualty at the Bulls who will definitely not play is Flip van Der Merwe, being ruled out with a hip injury.

I also don't think Morne Steyn will be at his best once again, as his baby boy is being born today...

The franchise areas are different, yes.

However, both teams reside in the same province (Gauteng). I am Dutch and I even know that! (Have to admit, I lived in Polokwane, Centurion, Phalaborwa and Jo'burg in the 5 years I lived in SA so that might help haha)

Shocking? Who said anything about the Capital? Disgusting to know a Bulls supporter don't know what region the old NTvl was and the region that falls under the Bulls Franchise. Really disgusting. Have you ever been outside Pretoria?

What is disgusting? I think it's you who doesn't understand the difference between a franchise area and a province.

    Bulls:
The franchise-area of the Bulls Franchise: Limpopo and the northern part of the Gauteng province
The location of the team: Pretoria, Gauteng

    Lions:
The franchise-area of the Bulls Franchise: Gauteng province (excluding the northern part), Mpumalanga and North West provinces
The location of the team: Johannesburg, Gauteng

Do the teams have the same franchise area? No
Do they play in the same province? Yes

When did I say province? I said regions. A franchise consist of a region.

The Bulls is the Limpopo and Northern Gauteng region. 2 Regions. And yes Pretoria West was my home for 6 months. Like the Sharks and EP is one region with the Sharks franchise they are still different provinces. Same with FS and Griquas.

A region is not a specific area. A region can be a certain area in a city, or in this case it's an area that exceeds the provincial borders.

Both teams are within the same province, Gauteng. That was my point. The location of the club itself is not the same as the franchise area. The franchise-areas are easy to distinguish and don't overlap, however... Of all the possible fixtures this is the one that comes closest to a real derby, distance-wise. Both teams are Gauteng-based and Gauteng has nothing to do with the old Transvaal.

    Exactly!

And the Bulls aren't limited to only Limpopo and Northern Gauteng, as Mpumalanga also falls mostly within the Bulls Region. Each Region has their own Union, like Limpopo has the Limpopo Blue Bulls Union, Mpumalanga has the Pumas, Northern Gauteng has the Blue Bulls etc...

that being said, with the 2 Gauteng based franchises, the regions are a bit of a grey area as a lot of the Falcons guys play for the Bulls and a lot of Pumas guys play for the Lions...

    EDIT:

    Bulls Team announced

15 Zane Kirchner, 14 Akona Ndungane, 13 JJ Engelbrecht, 12 Wynand Olivier, 11 Bjorn Basson, 10 Mornè Steyn, 9 Francois Hougaard, 8 Pierre Spies (captain), 7 Dewald Potgieter, 6 Jacques Potgieter, 5 Juandrè Kruger, 4 Wilhelm Steenkamp, 3 Werner Kruger, 2 Chiliboy Ralepelle, 1 Dean Greyling

Substitutes: 16 Willie Wepener, 17 Frik Kirsten, 18 Deon Stegmann, 19 CJ Stander, 20 Jano Vermaak, 21 Louis Fouchè, 22 Francois Venter

I am ashamed to say that for the first time since 2009 (Super14 final against the Chiefs) I am cheering for the Bulls to win big (meaning 4 tries)

Hougaard and Potgeiter have the Bulls back on top just when it was starting to look like a good game, and the Lions need a couple more tries now.

The Bulls only have 2 options left. Missing the play-offs or playing the Crusaders... I don't think they will throw this away like they did last season against the Sharks at Loftus in the final match.

Actually I thought the Lions didn't play so bad today, except for the lineouts. Their scrum was quite good, and if Murray wasn't such a selfish tool their backline might have been able to do more.

I see Morne Steyn still hasn't gotten much better, except at kicking.
