I was watching one of team GB's boxers about half an hour ago. I forget his name but the shocking part of the fight was how badly it was judged in his favor. The first round he won 7-4 he deserved to be leading but probably not by that much but in the second round, everyone including Jim Neely commenting thought the Indian had won the round convincingly enough but the score went 9-5 in the British boxers favor giving him a 16-9 lead going into the last round where the Indian completely dominated much more than GB in round 1 but only won the round 7-4.

If the judging remains like this for the GB fighters I worry for Katie Taylor who is most likely going to fight a brit in her first bout.

I'm not accusing anyone in the GB set up of anything as it is all independent judging but the same thing happened in the Beijing light heavyweight final where the Chinese boxer was judged into a gold medal quite easily against Irish boxer Kenneth Egan when most people saw it as a very close fight.

If you were going to rid of a sport from the Olympics why not get rid of those that have higher level of comp outside the olympics.
    Seemed it anyway.

That's a fair point - since they've gimped the Soccer/Football (well FIFA has anyway) and that the NBA is looking to do the same with the Basketball. Tennis looks to be another one they could do away with if they had a chance.

Yeah it's actually laughable. Just see any time the ABs/Kiwis/Blackcaps beat their teams (blackcaps least so ) - and you'll see coverage/analysis of it dropped or a given a very brief mention in Aussie tv/publication.

At least here, we take the time to lambast our sportsmen for losing giving both winning and losing. Not perfect, but at least it's acknowledged.

On topic; good on GB getting Golds and medals all over the place. Always good to see home teams do it. I've never really seen the big deal in winning big games/tournaments for the home side, but after last year's RWC atmosphere, I usually tend to root for the home nations now (providing there isn't a Kiwi in the midst of it ).

    Except for France....

    Superb athlete, Bolt.

Annalise Murphy is in the medal race tomorrow and needs to finish ahead of one of the other three leaders for a medal.

With Katie Taylor in with a chance of securing a medal and Annalise Murphy in medal contention it could be one of the best days in Irish Olympic history... That is quite sad really.

Yeah I saw it at the time but didn't know what it was, literally a second before the gun went you can see it bobbling about in the background.

I'll have to check out the race again, I might have been focused on another runner when it happened, there's always one idiot trying to ruin things.

I noticed the bottle on the ground behind the starting blocks - apparently (well, according to some journo on twitter) a Swedish Judo woman punched the guy who threw it.

You'd think Olypmpians would be one of the last people you'd mess with - they're either super strong, incredibly fast, or know a martial art or two.

That was actually a decent trolling attempt. Shame it didn't catch on. Next time, try to make people believe you're serious.

Great Britain should not be topping the list, since it's actually several countries. They are cheating

His trolling attempts has become redundant... even if he adds remarks like BOOM, it will still not attract flies to his shit...

Same could be said about the Netherlands and Holland... if we want to get technical.

Medals are too mainstream, we'll stick to hipster GAA.

Nope. Netherlands is the country. Holland is a very old name for the region in the west. It consists of 2 provinces, Noord-Holland and Zuid-Holland, but is not a country. It's the same as saying the Cape region and South Africa are 2 different areas. If we want to get technical....

Well, technically England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland aren't countries, they're nations. Oh, actually Wales is a principality.

Well, technically, England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are entities regarded and referred to as countries, despite not being sovereign states.

I've really loved following the olympics thus far and think London has been a great host city. I didn't care much for the opening ceremony (apart from the rugby clips they threw in at the start) but the rest has been fantastic thus far and the settings are just amazing. I mean how could any host city hope to compete with the Thames for the rowing and Wimbledon hosting the tennis for example... can't be done.

I suppose SA's awesome start helps keep my interest. GB also doing exceptionally well. Other countries beside SA that have surprised me so far are Kazakstan and our old friends New Zealand. How great would it be if we and NZ finish above Aus LOL! Also Hungary are doing pretty well. Great show so far, thanks London.
