Should make up for the departure of Hooper.
Mowen and Pocock will form a pretty powerful backrow, just need to find their blindside.

This is going to make following the Force a whole lot harder.

    so.....

    Just disband the force?

Seriously they were a team built around Sharpe, Pocock and O'Connor

Now they are all gone and really they have no one to replace them, correct me if I'm wrong but they don't have a single top class player????

They going to be raiding the New Zealand ITM cup again this year me thinks. And be most likely to take the wooden spoon next year.

Great for the brumbies, pretty much a killer blow for the force.

Yeah, shocking for the Force. They've just had no luck with retaining good players. Pocock, Giteau, O'Connor, Drew Mitchell, Nalaga, Cameron Shepherd all players they've lost or are going to lose by next season. It will leabe them with just Ben McCalman, Richard Brown, Matt Hodgson and Sam Nortson-Knight (lol) as their only internationals, none of whom are regular Wallabies.

well this is a real opportunity for many South African players who can't get the nod in SA to go to the Force...

Who Knows, we could actually have a 6th SA team in next year's tournament.

It's not the end of the world. This is effectively the first real cleanout in the club's history. It's just the same cycle the Reds and Brumbies have recently been through.

It's all a matter now of whether or not rugbyWA gets it's act together and rebuilds properly. Up and coming coaches with a passion for Australian rugby is what we need. Ewan McKenzie has been so successful with the Reds partly due to all the time he spends on recruiting talent from the local comps. (him and his team). So start with the coaches and then find the players for once, not the other way round.

It's not all doom and gloom.

The tight 5 is solid, with the departure of Sharpie hopefully they inject a big name or two in the off season.

We have some up and coming backrowers (ie: Cottrell, McCaffrey) to join Hodgo who generally plays as well as Pocock for us.

For the first time in years we actually have depth in the #10 position. Ebersohn, Goodwin (who will be 20 next season), NK and Seymour.

Centres are the real weakness relative to other clubs at the moment. Sidey, Dellit and Tupou don't really offer enough competition for each other, we really need some more quality and depth here.

Outside backs are coming through nicely. I reckon Cummins is as good as any winger in the country right now (watch for him in the quad nations). Mafi had a breakthrough season and we are still yet to see Rapana (the NRL player) who got injured before game 1 2012. Not to mention Wara is a handy player to have in the mix.

For once our entire budget wont be tied up in the backrow and if the administrators stop monumentally farking up we should see something interesting out west in 2013. (Probably a bit harsh on them as we are the least attractive province for players in the super15, but even they have admitted their performance needs to improve if we are to get our shit sorted)

I wouldn't say getting rid of Pocock was a "clean out"

He's like Australia's best player! I think he's the one guy the Force desperately needed to keep.

yes it's Critical for teams to bring in new talent but at the same time for a team to succeed they need a couple of Proven experienced top level players. not just because of their on field performance but because Quality attracts more quality.

With Sharpe and Pocock gone do the force have a single player that is a sure bet to be a regular starter in the Wallabies 15?

Brumbies on the other hand should be genuine contenders next year, may end up seeing the Brumbies and Rebels being the stronger Aussie teams?

    Eastern RSA Force?

Yeah sucks for the Force. I guess this means more kiwis will be Wallabies by the end of next season if the ARU is to continue its pattern.

One good player, one washed up average player and two completely unproven players does not mean you have 'depth'. The Crusaders have depth at prop, the Chiefs have depth in the outside backs, having four ok players in one position does not give you depth, it just means your contracting team doesn't know what they're doing...

When I said "depth", this is what was meant. For the first time in a while we don't need to find ring-ins, we have 4 decent players that will be training in that position.

Ah sorry, I see what you mean. The ring ins have been some of your best players though... Still remember David Hill getting that droppie a few seasons back

Happy that the Brumbies are getting Pocock. If only they had managed to keep Hooper, they would be eating other teams alive in the back row.
