    NZ vulcano Mount Tongariro erupted.

    News came in around 11.50pm that Mount Tongariro had erupted. It's the first time in more than 100 years.

    Around five centimetres of ash has fallen on State Highway 46 around the mountain. The road has been closed because of poor visibility, as has the Desert Road section of SH1.

    Yeah, it's actually lucky it errupted the time of the day it did. Though it's winter and there aren't many hikers, it's still a pretty popular crossing.
