Killing members of the far right could continue until the government stops implementing their ideas

Not sure if that's your view or the agenda of a certain group. Either way it's abhorrent and disgusting and must be condemned.

There is simply no excuse for this cowardly act. The shooter has needlessly raised the stakes and endangered the lives of innocent people given the backlash and retaliations that could easily follow.

It's my opinion these instances are likely to happen while Americans identify they have a government seeking to bring them harm and shut down democracy (correct interpretation).

You are a certified piece of **** and if you ever come to Chicago I will gladly meet you anywhere and anytime.

Id just ignore it mate!

Just when I was considering praise for Dems and Reps on their comments calling for calm, and sorrow, they start a shouting match during a moment of silence...

Republican call for a prayer to be read out and not silence, and Democrats start shouting about kids in Colarado.

Pricks.

Just when you think this could be a moment of reflection, and a chance for them to just act like adults for 5 ******* minutes, they disgrace themselves again, what did i expect!!!

Absolutely not the right way to effect change in a democracy regardless of your political persuasion. Anyone wanting change should be lobbying the Democrats peacefully to get their **** together ahead of the mid terms and next PE.

Will this finally spark a 2A debate?
Probably not

The opposite I'd say. Increasing fear levels will likely drive more sales as people feel the need to have a deterrent/ability to defend themselves with newer/better guns. Then you have the minority of lunatics who will now think it's game on.

i think you're probably right, this lunatic has just "proven" to even more people they are right to fear/hate and need to defend themselves

im going to the states next weekend...not looking forward to it

Yeah sadly people will use this to justify whatever they believe about the left wing. Even if its an extreme left wing person or of no political persuasion.

You only have to see how quickly misinformation got out there just like Southport.

Didn't know who Kirk was until a few months ago. It's not great but political assassinations in America are not uncommon and it's never led to all out war. It will feed the culture wars though so expect loads of conspiracy theories to be coming out until they catch the shooter

When was the last right wing assassination? It feels like a powder keg with those guys ala January 6th or Charoltteville

Yes, the US government is trying to do that; but I think it's more to do with the ever increasing polarisation; the inability to think of the other party as people who actually want to do what's best for the country, but just disagree on how.

The assassination of Melissa Hortman, for example, was not because her side were seeking to bring harm to the people, and shut down government - nor was the armed gunman wandering around Kamala Harris' home.

Don't know but political violence isn't uncommon in America. I wouldn't put this assassination in the same bracket at JFK or Martin King
Nor would I, and I was alive when both of them were killed. I was only three when JFK died and don't remember it first hand, but I do remember when MLK died. There were riots in the streets in cities all across the country including the one I was living in at the time which was Durham, North Carolina. The National Guard used my Elementary school parking lot as their staging area for a couple of weeks. We would walk by them everyday and there was a curfew every night during that time as well. You could see burning buildings downtown from our house which was a mile away. I think that was in 1968 but I still remember it. Hard to forget.

It's horrific and the usual suspects once again trying to use such events for political points scoring.
