A Political Thread pt. 2

Crazy and highly disturbing how many turned out yesterday. Tommy Robinson doing his pre protest caveat of "no violence" was just BS just like Trump on Jan 6th's "march peacefully" . Both knew it would attract the thugs.
The police must be getting fed up with it. I think you had a similar number of assaults with Palestine Action last week.

The only good thing is a significant amount of officers will have next years summer holiday already paid for in over time.

I did find it weird how religion is creeping into it. Saying the Lords Prayer on the march etc. I've never had Brits as being particularly religious.

How many arrests were there? 25 being reported of 150k to 200k people.

Comparing that to the 900 at Palestine Action is a bit unfair.

I wouldnt defend this protest, but we have to be honest, compared to something like Carnivale it was timid.

This was a surprise to me too, but it seems to be leaning toward eradication of Islam doesnt it, so makes a bit more sense. It might also be a bit of instigation for a reaction?

And like we've seen in America, with some takes on Islam and now a little here. Taking books as literal and ignoring there real messaging is damaging.

I wasnt defending Christianity, I dont really care which invisible friend in the sky anybody believes in, thats absolutely up to them...

I was just saying most there probably arent devout, they just push it asa symbol against what they see as encroaching Islam into the west.

In the grand scheme of things, considering the numbers involved in the march, the number of incidents of violence and arrests seems pretty low. When you get a large enough crowd in quite emotionally charged situations, there will always be idiots who go too far.

I wonder if those dressed as crusaders are aware old Richard didn't get involved until the 3rd?

I read that Steve Bannon also made a speech as well as Musk. The irony of foreigners being keynote speakers in what was meant to be a pro Britain/ union march is breathtaking. Why aren't the flag brigade protesting about that? It's basically foreign interference which wasn't tolerated when we were in the EU.

I would guess that Tommy Robinson is being bankrolled by Musk and is essentially doing Farage's dirty work allowing Reform to distance themselves from the protests and all the other bad **** while at the same time benefiting politically.

Weird reportingnof the march, media weee reporting 110k, then 150k, then i think I saw 170k, organisers and supporters are claiming a million (lol) but other affiliates

Lets be generous and say 150k, seems reasonable...

26 arrests and counting last i heard, thats really small, I was thinking it would equate to something closer to the Palestine Action 900

I don't think a comparison can be made with Palestinian Action as someone can get arrested for nothing more than holding up a sign.

I get it, i wasnt comparing them directly I was thinking 100k ****** up middle aged right wingers would have caused murder, and got banged up left right and centre.

I was expecting 500 plus

Defend are Juries the main organisation of the last Palestian Action march. Said the Met over egged the figures and lied about the amount of arrests for violence, assault police etc. I'd assume they'd apply the same logic for this one.

My theory is maybe the Police just reported the figures they had. Which was 17 arrests for assault Police at the Palestine Action march.

Laughable that he can claim it's never been about politics, it's always been about politics. It's certainly not about the music, most of it is terrible.
