England 2024/25

We had a pretty healthy crowd when we played Fiji here so you know, no pressure. Easy train or Bus from Madrid and two rugby bars in the city centre. No excuses
If I could afford the trip I'd be there with bells on. But I'll be watching and cheering both teams (mostly England of course)

Yep only confirming officially a month before when the president was 99% sure when he spoke to me in July is annoying. Hey if it's cheaper you can go watch Spain play Fiji in Málaga the week after instead.

Think there's been a ton of top performers, almost so many that a lot of them are rendered irrelevant due to the competition haha - like it's hard to really consider outsiders when the fringe players are playing so well and we've still got the Lions/starters to come back yet

Tom Willis has looked really good - mentioned it in the match thread, but he looks like he's added a few Kg (somehow, considering he had like 5 weeks off...) and it's added even more power to his carrying game
CCS going well at lock, especially in the lineout
AOF playing really well
IFW and Lawrence have really hit the ground running considering all their time out

People won't want to hear it, and i'm obviously not calling for his recall, but....Farrell is looking really good at 12 for Saracens

Willis has to be nailed on at 8 now, it's a Shame his brother never made it as I'd love to have Tom and Jack Willis ripping it up out their for England.

From a Chiefs point of view IFW coming back strong issue for us. I wouldn't be surprised if he is straight into the 23 at least for England, id say he's had a better start than Roebuck(who i rate highly too)

Yeah when Saracens came here last week, it was noticeable how big Tom was. He was blowing a bit but to be expected first run out really. I know it's not difficult against us at the moment but he was just bulldozing through us ..but what impressed me the most was how nimble his footwork was! He was dancing round us aswell offloading.

For England you could have the luxury of him emptying the tank for 50 mins then having Earl or Pollock move there when the game has opened up. That could cause carnage.

Farrell just cruised against us aswell. He was having fun just guiding / dictating the play. He's a class act, you can't deny it. But do we want him back? Preferably not really

(To be fair Saracens look like major contenders..)

Waboso looks class. And Lawrence is showing that really, contenders need to get past him for one of the spots.

AOF has definitely started well .

I do wonder if we will see Tom Willis join his brother after the 2027 RWC.

Could see Jack returning to England for the 2026/27 season he’ll maybe to Sarries and then both go to Toulouse

Aye pretty much every team is having England players who standing out

For example Tigers - JVP, Radwan and Ilione have been stand outs imo. JVP is prob the only one with a chance for the 1st but I can see Ilione making the A team. Tigers look generally a much better team with Woodward leading the backfield organisation (as shown when he went off v Bristol)

Chessum will be a nailed on and I reckon so will Heyes for the 23 shirt outside those three.

The depth is insane in England right now I feel, just need Borthwick to sort out his game plan and back some players (I would like to see some Lions rested in the AI’s)

Saw a rumour online that Toulouse are chasing him hard and offering him a contract next season with a release clause for the World Cup (not sure how that would work though as I doubt the RFU would take a France based player who has a release clause, he'd need like a full year of release to sign for an English club for 27/28 before going back)

Feel like he would just sign a short term deal with sarries and a pre contract with Toulouse more simpler

Lovely bit of central contract drama

The hamstring issue Ben Curry went off with last week needs surgery, but isn't an immediate need (it's an irritation around the scarring from a previous surgery, or something along those lines, that can be managed, but needs surgery to fully fix) - Sale want him to go into surgery ASAP, England want him to rest it now and have the surgery after the AIs so he can play in them and then be back for the 6N
So essentially England want him to not be available for Sale until Rd 11

Especially when there's Underhill and Pepper available (and maybe even TC - not sure when he's due back), and it's "only" the AIs, not the 6N or RWC
Obviously I want to see him get more caps, but surely you want to be playing fully fit players not ones managing an injury week to week (which Sanderson said is the case atm)

True. Although having only just established himself after years of being on the fringes, he may want to prioritise England. It would be pretty gutting for him if someone like Pepper gets a chance and leapfrogs him in future selections.

I'm not saying it would be the right decision to put England first, but I could understand it.

From what I've read Tom Curry is likely to be out for the AIs.
