England vs Australia - 01/11/25

That is a weird team.

I love Freeman, but keep him on the wing. Lawrence must be injured? I just can’t get my head around any of this

I really don’t like that team - he’s made changes for the sake of it. It’s a weird side. Feel like he’s jeopardising our chances in a game we need to win to keep this momentum going - lose this and we’re back to square one yet again. I was confident about winning this but now I’m not so sure.

What happens if a centre is injured? Or even a back 3? Ford at 15? Smith at 12? That makes our 10 12 v lightweight. Pollock or Earl at 12?

It's not what I'd have picked, but it's not one to get upset about. I think we've discussed all the "controversial" picks already. None as bad as something like Farrell at 12 or CCS at lock etc etc.
Props feel like the wrong way way around, but meh...

Looks like Pollock is are wing and 12, 13, 15 cover then.
FSmith to 12, everyone moves out 1

Having said that, I'd made my first comment before looking at the bench backs

Roebuck has played a bit of 13 in most games this season for Sale, but not enough to really be a cover option there at international level (though SB doesn't seem to care about positional experience all that much)

No Marcus, Slade or Lawrence.

Don't get how Borthwick bangs on about cohesion and partnerships. Then drops two centres, Marcus as full back and 10 cover. Has Saints at 9, 12, 13 and drops Fin to the bench.

Looks like Pollock is are wing and 12, 13, 15 cover then.

Make it make sense.
Which two centres has he dropped?

Feels like we are back with the Eddie jones stupid selections that make no sense again era.

Three 7s then another on the bench.

Only 3 locks (you need at least 4 to win I heard).

Lions 10 on the bench behind mr one trick spiral bomb pony.

The best winger we have at 13.

The best 13 we have not selected.

The only 8 we have not selected.

No proper backs cover on the bench.

I was starting to like SB but this is stupid. Why do we seem to be the only country whose coaches constantly balls up selection.

Didn't the new EPS / central contracts agreement include limits on playing time during international windows? Or maybe the new World Rugby 5-year plan?
I'm sure something has
That might explain at least some of the... "rotation"

Or Smith to 15 and Steward to 12.

I mean its nothing like the Jones era.

England have a lot of injures in the back row. CCS and Ilione recently picked up injures. That's 7 back row players out, you gotta make way sometimes. Also Earl has played most games at 8 for England. It's really easy to understand why we are here.

Please show Ford more respect, I hate this about England fans. To have the year he's had and the excellent Argentina tour to be talked about like this is silly.

If any of the back 3 go out Freeman goes to the back 3 and 1 of Earl or Pollock covers the centres. Most coaches would go with a 6-2 split if you have back row players who can cover centres.

Im with you on the 13 talk though, unless Lawrence is injured.

None of this is stupid.
