    England 6 Nation squad 2024

I’d say that’s a large part of the problem. For a good 5yrs or so we decided we wanted our props to be ‘mobile’ with an all court game at the expense of the set piece. With that said, there still aren’t many you could say were unfairly overlooked. Collier and Schonert maybe, but I can’t really...

    England 6 Nation squad 2024

On what basis? If numbers are unimportant and you're saying back row positions are interchangeable, then Earl is a viable 6. I see him as a player who is equally effective at 7 and 8. He doesn't offer what I would want/expect from a blindside though.

    Premiership Rugby 23/24 - Round 13

Yep. Very odd. If it’s an offence, it’s an offence. I don’t see why it matters if the commentator picks it up first? Lewies already had a yellow so would have been off. Not a good look for the club captain. A real lack of leadership yesterday and a total lack of discipline.

    England 6 Nation squad 2024

Yeah, I think he’d posted something on social media saying how he’d had a setback on his injury.

    Premiership Rugby 23/24 - Round 13

He definitely would have got more minutes had he not been injured and I think the impact he made from the bench was significant in every game he played in. I don't know if we could have asked much more from him TBH? Feyi-Waboso was the discovery of the competition, but definitely came in with...

    Premiership Rugby 23/24 - Round 13

Maybe. Although CCS was arguably the discovery of the 6N so it worked out pretty well.

    Premiership Rugby 23/24 - Round 13

Taking Billy Vunipola to the RWC ahead of Mercer (or Dombrandt) was mental, but I don’t think Borthwick has lied to him. His move to Gloucester was already confirmed prior to Eddie leaving. If anyone lied or ‘sold a dream’ it was Eddie. I agree Mercer is too good for an 86min international...

    England 6 Nation squad 2024

Yeah … this is an interesting point. Of those that get mentioned, Ted Hill is more or less the only genuine 6. Perhaps Jack Kenningham if he can get back to fitness and from. I do feel like CCS could be a better 6 than 8 in time and if he stays at Quins, that’s very possibly the route he’ll...

    Transfers rumours

Yeah. That would be very disappointing.

    England 6 Nation squad 2024

I’m not really advocating that they get used more than they should at their age. For example, Baxter has been introduced relatively slowly. I’d probably regard this as his true breakthrough season. In total he’s now up to 42 appearances in total but at an average of 35mins per game. It probably...

    England 6 Nation squad 2024

Actually, I think the potential at loosehead is stronger than tighthead. Baxter, Brantingham and Haffar all look good and are getting regular game time. As much as Fasogbon and Sela look very good at age grade they have very little senior experience to speak of right now. I'm not even sure...

    England 6 Nation squad 2024

Warr being ignored is strange indeed. I would have thought he’d be right up Borthwick’s (and Wigglesworth’s) street. I genuinely don’t understand why he wasn’t selected for the A squad. 9 is a weird one in general although if JvP and Quirke can get back to fitness and form, I think we’ll have a...

TRF 2024 Player of the Tournament

I went with Earl, but could easily have gone with Brex who I thought was immense throughout.

Hodge does look very promising and I think he has a higher ceiling than Furbank. Green is a no for me. I'm a big fan at club level, but truthfully his ankle injury cost him a yard or two of pace and I just don't think he has the smarts for test rugby.

[2024 Six Nations] France vs England - 16/03/24

Strange comparison. Pollock is nothing like Robshaw. He has modelled his game on Michael Hooper and the hype around him is currently built around his highlight reel moments and try scoring. If anything the 'nuts and bolts' elements of his game are the areas that need working on. I think he's...

    England 6 Nation squad 2024

I think that’s harsh. I don’t think JvP has looked ‘absolutely terrified’. He’s had some good moments and if anything, I think he was confused by the game plan (which could be said for most of us too). Mitchell is looking good now, but it took him a while to get there. Probably for similar...

    England 6 Nation squad 2024

I’m definitely not getting carried away. However, the fact that we got better as the tournament progressed at least suggests that we are going in the right direction. Earl and Mitchell look very good and Feyi Waboso and Cunningham-South look like they can both thrive at this level. Daly and...

    England 6 Nation squad 2024

The problem is that we don’t have any good options ready to go today. However, with Opoku-Fordjour, Sela and Fasogbon coming through it looks as though we have some real potential for the future. Brantingham could be another if Saracens prefer him at tighthead (which could be very possible given...

    England 6 Nation squad 2024

I’ll be curious to see how NZ look under Robertson. Obviously he’ll be very familiar with a lot of the Crusaders players, but he’ll still be a ‘new coach’ at this level. They’ll also have a bit of post-RWC churn in playing personnel so it’s hard to know what to expect. It might be a benefit...

    U20 6 nations 2024

Agreed. The French tighthead would be bigger than most senior props. Massive.
