Heineken Cup talks "have now ended"

Of course, the status quo could not continue with the size of the English and French TV viewing public not counting for very much. I`d expect another 're-jig' like this in a few years time, it`s called the market!:)

2014 6 Nations: England vs Wales (Round 4)

Gatland`s sh*t-eating smile when he couldn't bring himself to conceded that England were the better side yesterday was telling.

2014 6 Nations: England vs Wales (Round 4)

Gatlandball is now subject to the law of diminishing returns. Bound to happen eventually.:)

Its the fault of the English basically.

2014 Six Nations: Wales vs Italy (Round 1)

Damn your national anthem Wales, I`ve gone again!:wah:

Heineken Cup talks "have now ended"

Despite the attractiveness of the idea (apparently!) English clubs need to stay the hell out of this Welsh spat, if only because it could create more problems than it solves. The nitty gritty of the BT deal is a mystery to me, so I`m not sure how much of that is a driver for this potential...

Heineken Cup talks "have now ended"

...because England and France have viable and competitively robust domestic leagues and the other nations don`t. The Pro 12 was supposed to solve that problem, but we all know what happened. Regional rugby has produced very competitive Wales and Ireland international teams (hence its adoption by...

Heineken Cup talks "have now ended"

That may be the case in Ireland, but in England it means something completely different, hence the problem. You will never get a competition that works in Europe with some countries employing the regional model and some not.

Heineken Cup talks "have now ended"

None of this will ever work as long you have regions masquerading as clubs. Simple really.

The Welsh Regions Joining the Premiership?

The PRL and the RFU need to stay out of this spat completely, I see nothing but trouble in the future if they don`t. Whilst I sympathise with the rather 'amateur days' view that we all have a vested interest in the long term future of European rugby as a whole, the fact is you cannot in this...

    Aviva Stadium

Yeah, the 'hallowed ground' story was the one peddled at the time over here I think, I seem to recall also that to the purists at the GAA, rugby is seen as having colonial overtones. Great looking ground Croke Park though.

    English/Welsh league

Really? Your perceptions are just as valid as mine but SKY over the years have based their entire business plan on showing home grown sport to a home audience, so I don`t see how your point is relevant in this case. I sensed at the time that the loss of Premiership rugby was a huge blow to them...

    English/Welsh league

A £152m four year TV deal with BT and no doubt SKY willing to bust the bank to win the competition back in a couple of years perhaps?

    English/Welsh league

Its a no from me, the Celts have made their collective 'regional model' bed and should be made to lie in it. I don't see why a successful and financially viable bona fide club competition based in England should be sullied by the addition of regional teams from a foreign country.

    [EOYT] Wales v Australia, 30/11/13

It was entertaining stuff I grant you, but it had a distinct harum scarum error ridden end of term feel about it, IMO. I thought as NH Champions, Wales against the weakest top 3 nation were very ordinary, that isn't trolling that proffering an opinion after watching the game. Highlight of the...

    [EOYT] Wales v Australia, 30/11/13

Usual **** poor Wales against a SH team. Apart from Cooper, it was a poor quality affair all round. That said, the signs look good for Wallabies.

[EOYT] England vs New Zealand 16/11/13

I`m not a Celt, so don`t usually do 'glorious defeat' but that felt good. If our lineout hadn't gone to rat**** in the last 20 mins then we could have easily won. More convinced than ever that England come 2015 will be the only NH side that`ll cut the mustard against the AB`s and SA. Real...
