2017 British & Irish Lions Squad Announcement

It has now been confirmed on the Lions social media. The Lions shirt should be earnt. The excuse that Wales are in NZ is not good enough for me.

2017 British & Irish Lions Squad Announcement

To be fair, if we are going with that: Goode; Ashton, Tuilagi, Barritt, Brown; Farrell, B Youngs, T Youngs, Cole, Launchbury, Parling, Wood, Robshaw, Morgan, Joseph, Burns, Care, Vunipola, Lawes, Haskell were all involved in 2012. A lot of them were in with a shout.

[2017 RBS Six Nations] Round 4: England vs Scotland (12/03/2017)

No one mentions New Zealand not playing England in their winning streak (tongue in cheek)

    England 6N 2016 - General Chit Chat

I can understand complaining about Kvesic not being able to carry effectively. But when the alternatives are Robshaw or Haskell who despite being larger struggle to ever show impressive metres made stats I struggle to understand the reasoning. Surely if you combine Kvesic with a proven carrier...

    2016 RBS Six Nations Predictions

Just wanted to get a feel for everyones final standings predictions for 2016. I will go first (winner in brackets). Rd 1 Fra v Ita (Fra) Sco v Eng (Eng) Ire v Wal (Ire) Rd 2 Fra v Ire (Fra) Wal v Sco (Wal) Ita v Eng (Eng) Rd 3 Wal v Fra (Wal) Ita v Sco (Sco) Eng v Ire (Eng)...

    England Post-WC discussion

I would agree with those forwards. Pretty much the form picks. The only worry are the tightheads. Cole has not had his usual dominance this season. However he has more than enough credit in the bank for me. Don't think Thomas should be in there. His discipline and scrummaging have both been poor...

    Advice for a newbie

Theres plenty of programs on the internet designed for people looking to build strength. Give Stronglifts 5x5 or Starting Strength a google. Both were at least partly planned as assistance routines for sports. You're likely to need help with olympic lifts. If you have a gym anywhere around you...

    Advice for a newbie

In regards to strength movements you want to be hitting big compound lifts often and heavy: squat/press/bench/deadlift and also some olympic lifts to help your explosiveness. However make sure you are using correct technique. A good coach will be invaulable. I know a lot of props do a lot of...

    Aviva Premiership 15/16 - Round 6

Trouble is you just can't afford to pick an unreliable kicker at international level. I'd be more than happy if we managed to find an alternative kicker to play at the same time. Maybe slade at 12/13? Or god forbid farrell at 12

    England Post-WC discussion

Roko had another impressive game in attack and defence today. Going to be very hard to ignore. He doesn't really have any weaknesses and I think all the other prospective wingers do.

    England Post-WC discussion

Its pretty tough to disagree with any of that. Maybe Roko is unlucky to miss out but there isn't an obvious winger to drop. Fingers crossed Jones will see it the same way.

He's gone. He's actually bloody gone!

Has Farrell gone with him? (Fingers crossed)

    England Post-WC discussion

We clearly need more carriers in our pack. I propose: 6) Billy V, 7) Hughes, 8) Morgan. It would definitely be fun to watch.

A RIDICULOUS text against the Pumas' perfomance in the RWC 2015

I'm always a little hesitant to believe these numbers. Admittedly I am from a part of the Midlands that isn't a major rugby hotspot but it is very very rare that I meet anyone that plays rugby. 2 million indicates a fairly significant portion of the population are registered players and from...

    International teams tiers

Ireland struggled because Schmidt has built a very effective gameplan around Sexton. It worked incredibly well but unfortunately once Sexton goes out Madigan doesn't quite have the same kicking out of hand ability in order to complement Murray. Combine that with a few of your best forwards being...

    International teams tiers

So was he only playing with Australia and South Africa the last 10 or so times as well? I agree you had a few injuries. However so did England in the six nations. Injuries are part of international rugby these days and more often than not its the ability of your wider squads that wins you...

    International teams tiers

You seem quite bias. Wales were full strength in the six nations and a depleted England turned them over quite easily. Wales haven't beaten Australia in years and years and have only managed one home win against south Africa in n recent memory. How you can put them second with a straight face is...

    International teams tiers

I always think it is crazy how much public perception changes on the back of one or two close results. England were only a score or so from winning the six nations. They were the better team against Wales for a significant period but then threw it away on the back of a couple of poor decisions...

Northern & Southern hemisphere rugby union: the discussion

I think summer rugby would be a huge help. I know in England the majority of the season its wet and cold which leads to big forward packs and limiting the creativity of the backs due to difficult handling conditions. Its just not practical to play free flowing rugby on a rainy freezing day in...
