Maro Itoje - the greatest rugby player of all time, is he there already?

In terms of size/speed combo, Tom Varndell was one of the great potential wingers I've ever seen, 1.88m, 101 kg with ran a 10.8 second 100m when he was just 18. Has scored three tries in four tests (including scores against Australia and New Zealand) but could never stick with the England side...

[2016 RBS Six Nations] Round 1: France vs. Italy (06/02/2016)

While I am a huge fan of Plisson and Danty, I can't help feeling like their 9-10-12-13 combination is way too inexperienced. Bezy is 24 and uncapped, Plisson 24 with 6 tests under his belt, Danty 23 and uncapped and Fickou has the most tests with 15 but is just 21 and has started just six times...

England Team Now That Jones Has Come In?

I'm thinking that Ashton is just a short term solution to round out the back-line, I assume Wade gets a shot once he regains fitness, and maybe May too once he recovers from surgery. I'm also bit surprised by the dropping of Youngs especially considering that I don't think LCD is ready for Intl...

England Team Now That Jones Has Come In?

Interesting to see some of the choices for the Six Nations squad. Both Devoto and Sam Hill make it, at the expense of Barritt. Ashton seems to be back in favour. And lots of youth in the back row with Itoje, Kvesic, Clifford and Beaumont. Backs: Mike Brown (Harlequins), Alex Goode...

    The differences between 4 & 5 - Second row

I always thought it was the opposite. SA with the classic 4 Bakkies Botha/5 Victor Matfield pairing. NZL 4 Brodie Rettalick/5 Sam Whitelock AUS 4 David Giffin/5 John Eales And obviously some guys like Paul O'Connell can pack down on either side.

    What Position Should I Play?

I wouldn't put too much stock into your size and strength, while you have great size for a 14 year-old there is nothing guaranteeing you will continue to develop in that area. I was 5-11 at the age of 14 and I never grew after that. Your speed is another matter entirely, keep working on that...

    Upcoming World Rugby Stars

How has Hugh Blake played recently? I know he got a test match in during 6N.

    Upcoming World Rugby Stars

Some future Springboks to keep an eye out for: With all the attention given to Damian de Allende, Jesse Kriel and Jan Serfontein, a midfielder who might end up starting by the next World Cup is Harold Vorster. Not as big and powerful as de Allende or as explosive as Kriel but a smart...

England Team Now That Jones Has Come In?

Some thoughts: - I know Manu Tuilagi needs to get fit and regain the favor of the selectors but he has the capability of giving England a powerhouse in the midfield. Look at all the 6N teams, they have at least 1 big centre in their starting XV when healthy; Bastereaud for France, Dunbar for...

    Top European Dream team currently

I'm sure there will be lots of debate on this, but it's just my opinion to get the ball rolling. 1 Eddy Ben Arous, I rate him very highly 2 Rory Best 3 WP Nel, maybe Dan Cole 4 Joe Launchbury 5 Alun Wyn Jones 6 CJ Stander, should be eligible for Ireland by now 7 Steffon Armitage (I'm not sure...

    Dramatic games on video?

I'm not sure which matches you would be familiar with, but these are some good ones: Boks vs ABs 1998 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCO7dv3v_Js Wallabies vs ABs 2000 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDfkCftBurQ Wallabies vs ABs 2001 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mM0vu774s3k France vs ABs...

    Note to heineke meyer.

I think there's a couple young back row players that could feature for the Boks in a few years and play a big role in 2019. Sikhumbuso Notshe and Hanro Liebenberg. Liebenberg has all the tools to be our No. 8 of the future and Notshe is an explosive athlete, fantastic with ball in hand and is...

Can we all take a moment to laugh at Clive Woodward?

I'm a Canadian who was born in Durban, a huge fan of DTH and have been following his career for 6 years but this is ridiculous. Guys like De Allende, Louw, Vermeulen, De Jager and Etzebeth were among the best players at their positions during the world cup. And like the poster above me...

Who will be World Player of the Year?

He kicks for points so that might help him in the eyes of the people that pick these things. Have to say I'm a bit surprised at the nod for Hooper, I honestly haven't been consistently impressed with him. A couple of ABs who could have been on there are Ben Smith and Ma'a Nonu. One...

[2015 RWC] Bronze Final: South Africa vs. Argentina (30/10/2015)

Yeah I don't get all this talk about this match being pointless. It's an international test...if this is pointless then every match that doesn't decide the winner of the World Cup, National Championship or 6N is pointless. There's pride at stake whenever you represent your country and I always...

[2015 RWC] Semi Final 1: South Africa vs. New Zealand (24/10/2015)

Easy to say now, but given the problems we were having in the lineouts I'll admit I was yelling at HM to put him on in the second half.

[2015 RWC] Semi Final 1: South Africa vs. New Zealand (24/10/2015)

There's no real consensus on Pollard. Right now almost half my Saffer buddies prefer Pollard, another almost half prefer Lambie and one prefers Morne Steyn. I mean he's a real talent and with ball in hand can do some real damage. However his kicks need major work, both at kicking for goal...

    RWC 2015 dream team.

I was just going by the OPs post...that wasn't my outstanding XV of the World Cup just my Dream Team made up of players left in the semi-finals with no more than 4 players from any one team. To be fair, I feel like many Bok supporters are some of the biggest Bok critics in the world as well...

    RWC 2015 dream team.

1 Marcos Ayerza 2 Augustin Creevy 3 Sekope Kepu 4 Eben Etzebeth 5 Sam Whitelock 6 Schalk Burger 7 David Pocock 8 Duane Vermeulen 9 Fourie du Preez 10 Dan Carter 11 Julian Savea 12 Juan Martin Hernandez 13 Tevita Kuridrani 14 Ben Smith (yep I'm playing Smith back at wing but I want...

    Argentina 2019

Manuel Montero (1.94m and 105 kg) looked like he was going to be just that kind of back. I think people have forgotten about him a bit, since he's been out for much of this year. I wish him all the best with his rehab and hopefully he can make a full recovery.
