    Investec Champions Cup 23/24 - Rd 2

I was in one of several sold out blocks in the shade (see photo). No local would countenance sitting facing west at this time of year. It's horrendously sunny. That said I also think that in summer our evening games will sell better than afternoon ones. Next Champions Cup match for us in mid Jan...

    Investec Champions Cup 23/24 - Rd 2

I've got my tickets. Can't wait. It looks like quite cool weather. Under 25 celcius probably. I'm sure coming from winter, playing in SA on a hot day would be a factor for the Europeans. I reckon a very tough encounter for us despite home advantage.

    [RWC2023 SF2] England vs South Africa (21/10/2023)

The tone of the RFU statement indicated a presumption of guilt. I understand the importance of defending one's own players of course but it didn't read so well to me.

    [RWC2023 SF2] England vs South Africa (21/10/2023)

I suspect that Bongi from Harrismith would struggle to get where he has got with an overtly racist mouth on him. I do feel it was lost in translation almost certainly and that the RFU in doubling down has made it worse. The banter-wave has also been ridden by SA fans. I suspect that this issue...

    [RWC2023 SF2] England vs South Africa (21/10/2023)

I was there in Cape Town today when the Mayor of the City handed Bongi the shirt. It is such a storm in a teacup. I would say impossible for him to have said what Curry thought. RFU escalated it unnecessarily according to an English pundit I talked to today off the record. I'm sure between...

[RWC 2023 Final] New Zealand v South Africa 28/10/23 20:00 BST

2015 NZ team is the best ever for sure. This 2023 Bok side without Marx & Am is very similar to the other 4 flawed best teams in the competition currently.

[RWC 2023 Final] New Zealand v South Africa 28/10/23 20:00 BST

I think the best teams are on similar levels at the moment. All have flaws. SA mentally are tough and dug deep each knockout match. It's impressive

Rugby World Cup 2023 - retrospective

I visited France after the first round of matches for work (sadly couldn't watch any games). I was a little surprised by the lack of World Cup fanfare at airports, supermarkets etc? I would have expected more World Cup fever from within France, particularly as they have such a scintillating team...

    [RWC2023 SF2] England vs South Africa (21/10/2023)

I'd play Jasper Wiese and rest Vermeulen. If we're in the final DV can give it his all then. Kriel looked exhausted. Maybe de Allende / Am, with Kriel on bench? Nyakane only Prop to not play France so expect he will start. 6 day turn-around after that game is pretty tough.

    [RWC2023 QF4] France vs South Africa (15/10/2023)

Wow. Well done France. Felt like a final. But I think some hurdles still await us so weird to say!

    We will. I'm quite nervous!

Haha. I'm 60% confident you'll get to use it for the SA Fiji game 😂

    [RWC2023 QF2] Ireland vs New Zealand (14/10/2023)

Amazing game. Well done NZ. Nice to see the All Blacks getting back on the horse. Feel very sorry for Ireland. Great match for the neutrals

Haha. Joke doesn't work as it is a Quarter Final.

[RWC2023] South Africa vs Romania (17/09/2023)

Seeing that we have 5 props, I wondered about turning one of them into a Hooker. Kitshoff maybe would offer front row scrummaging experience, whilst also plenty of pilfering at the breakdown. I'm worried about what happens when we face a World Class front row, and Bongi is off at 60 mins.

    URC 2022/2023 Round 11

I would have been at the Green Point stadium in Cape Town, had I not been looking for lions in the Karoo. Going to go to as many games as I can.

    Bok Squad 2023

Any thoughts on giving Dan du Plessis a go for developing depth?

Favourites to win? Could this be one of the most open World Cups for a long time?

Looking at the current rankings, the top teams are really bunched together. The All Blacks are going through a rough patch, but I suspect they'll overhaul things after the Rugby Championship, and turn up highly competitive next year. Under Allister Coetzee, the Boks were a disaster before...
