[2015 RWC] Final: New Zealand vs. Australia (31/10/2015)

Congratulations to New Zealand, commiserations to Australia. A very enjoyable game to watch, must have been gruelling to play! Fantastic ball handling skills from the ABs, tremendous effort and commitment from all players, NZ always had the edge, despite that incredible passage of play when...

Thank you very much for taking the time to write to confirm what I have already realised, that the great majority on this forum are reasonable fans of the game and nice people. We all get a little carried away sometimes when giving our opinions, but I don't think that outright abuse can be seen...

For a second I thought you were going to say, 'Ritchie McCaw would rather die than go off side.........'

    Best of Luck.

Before I leave this forum, after the final, I would like to wish good luck to both teams, and all the fans who support them. I am hoping for a really good game of rugby, I always support the team whose play I enjoy the most. Thanks to everyone who replied to my posts, especially sanzar, always...

[2015 RWC] Final: New Zealand vs. Australia (31/10/2015)

Interesting and thoughtful responses, but I really asked because of the NZ haka, and the question raised about what a team should do to counter it. I don't think the haka is decisive in determining who wins, but, in my opinion, it does 'summon up the blood'!

[2015 RWC] Final: New Zealand vs. Australia (31/10/2015)

I have thought for ages that when, (if?!) England play the ABs they should do some morris dancing, with the bells and hankies, and a bloke bopping people on the head with a pig's bladder! Seriously though, why don't Australia do an aboriginal war dance?

    Is missing a tackle illegal?

Thank you. I must say, I have even more sympathy for the refs now, as I think it's really difficult to see with any degree of accuracy in which direction the arms and hands are facing! Oh well, let's just stick with the old rugby maxim that the ref is always right, even if he is wrong...

Many thanks for your kind response, I accept your what you say without reserve . I don't for one minute blame the referees for the current situation in rugby, I have been a netball umpire in my time, so I know what a difficult job a referee has! My beef is with those who run the game, and who...

Thank you for your civil comments. I would say, however, I have just watched some footage of tries being scored, and the ball is certainly not always caught in front of the person passing the ball. I appreciate that passing with the hands facing forward is a good indication of a forward...

gamine is the feminine form of gamin, which, in French, means a playful waif or street urchin.

I could not agree more! I have wasted precious hours arguing with some on this thread about the prevalence of the forward pass in today's game, only to be told that I am a troll, that I don't understand the physics of the pass in rugby, and I remind someone of their mother-in-law! I'm sorry...

I think that it is you who are a little confused! If you read my last post you will have understood, I hope, that I am not arguing about whether the ball goes forwards, backwards or all the way to Timbuctoo, but where the receiver is when the ball is caught. I think we all agree, don't we...

    What now for NH rugby?

Have you done a river trip yet? It's a great way to see London from a different perspective. Covent Garden is interesting with its street entertainers, and there are lots of good shows on, although they are expensive. If you like art there is the National Gallery, and your lady would certainly...

Hey Bo Jandals - like your name! Nothing sinister in my name, I was just trying to think of something for this forum, it's quite difficult, so I thought of 'game', as in game of rugby, but that's not very inspiring, so I turned it into 'gamine', which means, 'attractively boyish' Unfortunately I...

I will do my best, but my husband is a thoroughly intelligent and sensible man, who doesn't waste his time posting on forums! I think that the point of the argument, and possibly all that matters, is whether a team gains an unfair advantage from the way a ball is thrown. If the law says...
