    2021 Super Rugby Aotearoa - Round 4

    Damo- Flyhalf

    Form NZ 23

You're right. My picks tended to blend form, history, and international level adaptability. For instance, I chose Kirifi over Hunt, Papali'i, and Boshier because I love his physicality and speed. Papali'i is more likely to be the future because of his size. Hunt is a fantastic athlete, but like...

    [RWC2019][Pool B] Round 3 - England vs. Argentina (05/10/2019)

I agree it’s a red all day and has been. Lavanini is trash. However, I will never agree with red cards resulting in the team playing shorthanded for the remainder of the game. Refs should not decide the contest.

    [RWC2019][Pool B] Round 2 - New Zealand vs. Canada (/10/2019)

I hope that Ardron will retire from international duty. He is a warrior going to battle with plugs at his side. A statement condemning Rugby Canada’s ineptitude from him would have more positive effect. He’s too good of a soldier for that though. The cowardly gameplan Canada employs is a...

    [RWC2019][Pool B] Round 3 - England vs. Argentina (05/10/2019)

I’m blown away that Argentina didn’t bring Isa and Bonilla to this tournament. Sheer idiocy. Also, red cards are still the stupidest thing in the sport.

    15 minutes for red card?

Odd how little support this idea got on here when a random poster from Canada suggested it here a month ago.

    All Blacks 2019 RWC squad

It definitely makes things interesting. I would imagine that in the games v Namibia and Canada, you use the opportunity to only play one of either Mo'unga or Barrett. I'd be contemplating resting both in those matches and letting Jordie or Crotty run the cutter.

    All Blacks 2019 RWC squad

Frank’s decision to use stem cell therapy showed impressive dedication in his attempt to be fully fit for the rugby championship. However, there’s no way his shoulder is fully healed and back to strength. It was a valiant effort.

That's actually a wild stat about Franks. Karl always seemed to run decently well but didn't want to carry. Every time I watched the Blues this year he was a replacement, so I'm surprised he had the impact that the stats say he did. Where do you find these stats?

    All Blacks 2019 RWC squad

Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuke! IF (big if) he can keep his head healthy, he'll offer more than Squire could. Franks is omitted for the same reasons as Tuinukuafe. Not a ballcarrier and a step slower to rucks and on defense. Squire can only blame himself for trying to back his way in.

    Red Card Question

Rugby fans seem to struggle with the mere mention of adjusting the carding process. In any other sport except for round ball, severe infractions cost the player an ejection, fines, and lengthy suspensions. It costs the team a significant shorthanded period and then they move on with a...

Bledisloe Cup: Match 2 - New Zealand vs. Australia (17/08/2019)

Very nice ABs lineup. Ben Smith isn’t back to strength with his hamstring. He went from his usual class and error-free ways in Super Rugby until that ugly clash with Jacobsen late in the season. Playing in the Black 14 jersey was never a concern for him until this Rugby Championship. He can’t...

[2019 Rugby Championship] Round 3: Australia vs. New Zealand (10/08/2019)

Nah bro. We’re talking about infractions that have a mitigating factor, ie, double team tackle, tackled player ducking or falling, etc. That type of hit needs to be an ejection with10 minutes shorthanded. A more severe, unmitigated offence could be an ejection and 20 or 30 minutes short...

[2019 Rugby Championship] Round 3: Australia vs. New Zealand (10/08/2019)

Rugby’s carding system is sheer idiocy. A bastardized version of soccer’s idiotic policies. Allows for nothing more than an egregious level of referee control and potential for match fixing. Without fail, it ruins a couple of excellent top matches a year. The impact on domestic rugby, especially...

[2019 Rugby Championship] Round 1: Argentina v New Zealand (20/07/2019)

Great post Larksea. Great breakdown of the ABs performance. I thought Beauden was fantastic on defense in the wider channels, something unique that he offers compared to Mo’unga. He also took gaps himself that others can’t or won’t. I’m usually critical of his inability to sort out opposition...

No real surprises in All Blacks camp for next week....Akira Ioane invited, Ma'a Nonu is not. Hemopo not punished for his Japan signing...yet.
