Hi just wanted some thoughts on this highlight video, does a second row need a strong running game? Is it better to have someone who can play the ball as well as ruck or should a lock's job be primarily breakdown, set piece and defence?
Cheers for all and any comments or advice.

Generally I would say a strong running game is a nice extra - but not a core requirement. The tight 5 generally have to be the least dynamic runners as they're least likely to be put into space.

Great highlight vid man. Being a strong runner is always a valuable asset, but core responsibilities like getting to the breakdown to ruck and being powerful in the scrums are of higher priority. If you have those core skills down AND you can be a play-maker then you have something special going for you.
