[2017 Super Rugby] Round 18: Sharks vs. Lions (15/07/2017)

Yeah, a few forgettable performances there in a fairly forgettable half. Combrinck and Jantjies ordinary (I hope for his sake he was a little groggy when he tried that cross kick as a drop out). Ross Cronje just doesn't have the energy and pace of Faf either.

Kwagga Smith MotM in the first half. About the only 7s star in world rugby that seems to have fully made the transition to XVs who from a Tier 1 nation.
Rieko? Akira?
Even Tom English can't be too far from the Aussie side. I don't know much about the NH sides.

I'm not trying to be an ass, but I do think the transition is possible these days with the sevens standard being higher. It neglects some very important structural skills but it's great for developing flair in your players. In the case of Kwagga suddenly we have a fetcher who also has pace and linking ability. Must be on the Bok radar for me.

I'd give Senatla more of a chance as well, he needs consistent starting time which he just isn't getting at the Stormers since our back three are performing so well this year.

You're not being an ass at all. Just exposing my ignorance! :p

I didn't know those guys you mentioned (other than Senatla) were 7s specialists before hitting XVs.

Haha sounds like you have no problems at all, Collins and Ngatai would probably be my choices although I might be tempted to go Temanivalu just because he's premium and Ngatai hasn't played much rugby.

Good luck with the final! I'll be rooting for the Saffer victory.

In hindsight I should have listened to this sage advise but it looks like my misstep(s) doesn't make much difference thanks largely to a record haul (as far as I know) from a certain Damian McKenzie who was also largely responsible for my pipping you to the play-offs as well. I was always of the opinion its the team not the man that makes the difference in FR but being able to bank on 40+ points week in week out is HUGE.

I think you'd be surprized to see how many 7's players have transitioned to XV's. The Bulls have Jamba Ulengo and Shaun Adendorff (who had his first start this past weekend for the Bulls). Cheslin Kolbe, Gio Aplon, Pierre Spies, and couple of other guys made the transition smoothly.

I think Kwagga was outstanding in a match where both team tried to get through it without the worry of injuries or citings.

Kwagga is putting his hand up for a bok jersey.
