[2020 Autumn Nations Cup] Ireland vs Scotland (05/12/20)

I don't have the energy for another week of this. Praying that either a 35 year old or Billy Burns are fit to save us at home to Scotland is not a good thing.

Do you know that game, every four years or so, where we hit rock bottom by losing to Scotland? It's coming.

At least we can't back it up with a loss to Italy this time.

Harry Byrne is training with Ireland as Burns is gone. Connors and Lowe are out. Sexy and Henshaw are back. Earls and Herring are fine.

How does that quoted text show me the wrong post twice but when I click it it goes to the right post. Good job hackerman. You've truly hacked the mainframe

Ed Byrne out too.

What I'd pick

1. Healy
2. Herring
3. Bealham
4. Beirne
5. Henderson
6. O'Mahony
7. Van der Flier
8. Doris
9. JGP
10. Sexton
11. Stockdale
12. Aki
13. Henshaw
14. Daly
15. Keenan
16. Kelleher
17. O'Sullivan
18. Porter
19. Ryan
20. Stander
21. Marmion
22. H. Byrne
23. Earls

Porter needs/deserves a week off, Ryan could use a rest, CJ is coming off 2 not great games and no harm for a rest there too like Ryan. Rest is self explanatory.

Obviously back in real life I know we're going to start Earls and have Ross over Harry on the bench.

Keep CJ out. Beirne, Murray 10mins, Same for POM and give Earls a break. And Conway too.

Realistically though it seems we are going as full on as we can. H Byrne won't get a run. He should but won't.
Betting is on which player will be lost for year through injury.

Rumoured Team:

J Stockdale; H Keenan, R Henshaw, B Aki, K Earls; J Sexton (capt), C Murray; C Healy, R Kelleher, A Porter; James Ryan, I Henderson; CJ Stander, P O'Mahony, C Doris. Replacements: R Herring, F Bealham, John Ryan, Q Roux, T Beirne, J Gibson-Park, R Byrne, C Farrell.

That is what screams out experimental. Of the starting 15 Keenan and maybe lesser so Doris need more experience. At least we will learn what an Aki/Henshaw midfield is like, can Murray and Sexton play together?

Hope this is wrong. Interestingly Leo Cullen has seemed a bit peeved as Montpellier have their internationals back where he will only get few days with players that are shattered and is disadvantaged. Very interesting scenario.

Kellher too I suppose. If it is right Farrell over Daly on the bench is an iffy call.

Hard not to be worried as a Leinster fan, we're away to a big physical pack and we're getting our players back with a week to go. Ryan and Porter have played every game. Not to mention that there are only 4 games so a loss leaves us scrambling to catch up.

To be fair to Farrell he probably feels he has to win this so is going all out because of that.

Also it isn't fully dependable on just your own games in a sense this year.

Agreed Kelleher too just shocked at how poorly his Autumn has been used. Keenan should be 15. But yeah James Ryan and Andrew Porter as well as I would say Keenan are high risk of injury.

15. Jacob Stockdale (Lurgan/Ulster) 32
14. Hugo Keenan (UCD/Leinster) 5
13. Bundee Aki (Galwegians/Connacht) 29 Chris Farrell (Young Munster/Munster) 12

11. Keith Earls (Young Munster/Munster) 87

17. Eric O'Sullivan (Banbridge/Ulster) Uncapped
18. John Ryan (Cork Constitution/Munster) 22
19. Quinn Roux (Galwegians/Connacht) 15
20. Josh van der Flier (UCD/Leinster) 27
21. Jamison Gibson Park ( Leinster) 4
22. Ross Byrne (UCD/Leinster) 10
23. Chris Farrell (Young Munster/Munster) 13

Sigh...

At least O'Sullivan will get a cap. We leave a 7 on bench yet play with no 7 although can see POM there for Munster too.

As I said before awful use of great opportunity this window.

The two things I said I liked about the rumoured team were Kelleher starting and Beirne being used as a backrow...

Happy we have an actual loosehead on the bench. Think that'll be the 12th new cap since the international season resumed?

Would rather not have Murray or Earls starting, although given the injuries Earls is a bit more understandable.

A performance is really needed now. This has been some of the shittest circumstances for a HCs first year so I'm not going to make my mind up either way until the end of the 6N. Definitely some worrying trends though.

The management of Porter and Ryan's game time as also been subpar.

I make that 12 born in Scotland, 11 elsewhere ... getting close to 50/50.

Scotland are perfectly capable of winning this

I found it strange hearing James Ryan call Farrell "Faz". He's just captained Ireland to two completely sub par performances and is calling the coach by a nickname, Irish players have looked far too comfortable for a long time now. They all talk about how scared shirless they were of Joe's Monday morning video sessions and that clearly wore off too, no sign of that now.
