2023-2024 transfers

If he's not real cheap, that's a bad signing - he's a really bad scrummager

Would've been better off using the NIQ spot on a South African ball of muscle for the front row

I honk JTA is a good player - while his scrummaging leaves a bit to be desired I think you're being a little harsh in saying it's 'really bad'.

I do agree that Ulster should have invested that money differently though.

For a club aspiring to challenge for silverware, Warwick is not near good enough to be the starting loosehead. Tighthead is a bit better with Moore. O'Sullivan and O'Toole haven't quite lived up to their promise yet and are much better in the loose than they are in the scrum which makes JTA a curious addition. Dominant scrummaging props are what is needed so JTA is not really solving a problem, he's adding to it.

Agree largely with this although I think it's a bit of a disservice to Warwick. I've been shocked at how much he has stepped up this season as I would have always considered him a decent squad player and nothing more. He's made himself first choice this year and has more than held his own against some big scrums both in Europe and the URC. He's never going to be a world beater but he's had a great year.

I do agree Ulster should have looked at the loosehead moreso. Warwick is serviceable, good guy to have in your squad, but he's not nor will he ever be a top level guy.

I totally agree. Probably his best ever season. Hopefully he's found a new level, but it's also possible it could just be purple patch.

He's the kind of player who is a very solid second choice, but not really someone who should be a fixture in the starting XV IMO.

Hoping Reid can show improvement at scrumtime for them. If so his carrying would be just what they need. Definitely still thin overall there though.

Woodward is a good player, but he's hardly ever fit. I'm not sure clubs can afford to carry players who barely play but take up valuable cap space.

Sale cope with Tuilagi quite well……;)
In all seriousness he may struggle to get a good contract, he's a great player but his worth is going down right now, broken alot, when fit is away with England so guarenteed and with EJ he's likely to come back broken.

His value will be way down. And made alot worse with the salary cap reduction. Is he even worth the risk anymore?

Faf confirmed by Yokohama Canon Eagles

Surprised he didn't link back up with Ackermann, but they do have a South African coach and a few players (including Jessie Kriel)

Ealing signing like mad ********. They had Kevin O'Byrne last week, now Ross Kane and David O'Connor from Ulster and a few more English lads as well I believe.
We showed **** all "contact skills" on Saturday, enjoy him.
And just like that a promising coaching career is up in smoke off the back of one game...... Leo will be getting the sack next. He's coming in as our defence coach anyway, which is good, because 'contact skills coach' sounds to me like the rugby equivalent of 'synergy specialist' or something - I don't really know what either do on a day today basis.
