Biggest motor race in Australia with drivers & teams based in Australia (it wouldn't surprise me if Formula One's Australian Grand Prix gets better TV ratings within Australia).

I'm old enough to remember as a boy 1997 & 1998 having"two Bathursts". Supercars has had a monopoly on the event for the 26 years since.

Not seen the race in a few years. Lost interest since the Commodores and Falcons got swapped out. How's the category been for entertainment and good racing recently?

It's been a while since I watched myself too. 2023 Sandown 500 was the last race I watched. Series as a whole seemed to peak popularity wise in the 2000s. Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon no longer being made took a hit to it. And the Holden brand being retired was a big deal since "Holden vs Ford" was the series big thing. This race is bigger than the series itself. People who'd never watch the other rounds watch this one.
