Kituro beat Soignies 356-3: 56 tries to one drop goal.

Big issues about this in Belgium as essentially the ref turned up late after the majority of the Soignies side had gone home and made them play the game or forfeit - Firfeit means being banned the following season so they scraped a side together in the bar and got 356 points stuck on them.

Soignies is actually a very good club, we used to play against them, but essentially what you had was arguably the best side in the Benelux region in Kituro playing a scratch pub side.

Did you even read the article.

It was a league game, the Belgian RFU says that. Not a cup. A forfeit means 0 points accrued from the game whereas playing gives you a "losers point" and they are 1 point apart in the league. Hardly the gulf in class you make it out to be

WTF? What's with the crappy tempers around here lately, it's really starting to grate?

Simple mistake mate, I was posting this from my old club in belgiums facebook page where the guy who posted it said it was a cup game - regardless the soignies team left and the team that played was a scratch side, so the gulf between the two teams was very real.

Honestly I wasnt intending for that to come accross as sarky as it did. Apologies for that. Also admittedly they edited the article since I read it first to mention that the tries were uncontested run-ins.

No problem mate, was a bit surprised that's all and am just a bit on edge at the moment as I seem to have acquired my own personal stalker/troll...

I think they played a cup game last week, and that's where the confusion comes in... they would have taken a points deduction if they'd forfeited the game.

Soignies were very good when i was there, in four years we only ever beat them once and that was in a make or break relegation game (for us)

according to this: http://www.sportkipik.be/articles.php?id_article=9346

Soignies did not contest contact and walked when they had the ball.

So I see, crowd didnt seem to happy with it. Really surprised the ref who eventually arrived didnt officially postpone the game. Seems so much like common sense

Also wonder if this result will get officially recognised in things like the Guinness World Records etc

the ref situation does seem silly, but to be fair to Kituro they did say that they would get another Ref but Soignies left presuming they couldn't (it's a fair old journey form Scharbeek to Soignies which iirc is near Mons).

I guess the Guinness book of records thign will depend on if the game is officially recognised or scrapped?

i once played in a cup game there (around 2006), they handicap better teams so we played some 2nd division side who got a 25 point head start on us.

We won 109-25.
