A great big Munster thread

Lads if ye had facts well it was careless but not sure how he is lycky. Test showed it was minimal amount in system. The other James Cronin came forward and well GDPR was waived for it. He had consulted what should be put in to him but like any of us once he is handed the prescription and told dosage he just got on with it.
But alot of BS I see in some of our usual media gutters that have wrong facts

Ah yeah. Young lads need minutes as well. Will it be Coombes or jos to take the backUp 8 slot?
JOS is probably the main contender although Jacko may get games there. Issue is more Arno was only allowed stay the extra season due to RWC and injuries.

Roman Salanoa appears to be the latest player to make the move from Leinster to Munster.

Hard to know what to make of it. He wasn't getting ahead of Tadhg Furlong and Andrew Porter. John Ryan and Stephen Archer aren't getting any younger. Salanoa is very raw but has huge physical potential. He could develop into an option at tighthead along with Keynan Knox and will learn a lot from Graham Rowntree. It's a long term project. Munster have shown patience in developing John Hayes, Tony Buckley and Stephen Archer in the past so there's no reason to think they won't afford Salanoa time.

Add in we will be light with Scott and Parker going. John Ryan could go at any time too

He could see minutes with us a lot sooner that in Dublin
Not sure I agree with this. While he's not getting ahead of Furlong or Porter any time soon, they'll be in international squads quite a bit which frees up opportunities in the Pro 14. John Ryan and Stephen Archer will hoover up those opportunities in Munster.

I'm not saying it's a bad move for him but perhaps it's 12 months too early. Only time will tell

To be fair there will be little to no international rugby for anyone in the next 12 months.
Think you'll see plenty of chances in the big games in the #3 jersey. Knox will be the big competitor

Tend to agree with Snoop on this. I think he's very raw and to be honest was getting a decent shot with Leinster despite that. Strong guy and we've never really had a legit carrier at 3, but he's also going to get taken apart at scrum time at a high level.

Fair enough. Nothing wrong with adding a bit of ball carrying. He could see minutes with us a lot sooner that in Dublin.

any other additions planned ?
Only other addition that was being touted was Connors but again not sure we need him that badly and he is getting time in Leinster.

He'd be a super addition could definitely see the logic. Or Penney Kinda depends on how long we see Tod continuing and how long we keep cloete. We won't win trophies with cloete in my opinion

Cloete is I suppose a specialist 7 who will only do against certain teams with certain lads beside him.
TOD will be used more as a 6 I feel from watching the lads in training before all the covid

Ya Tod definitely has the versatility but with beirne pom Coombes jod Wycherley we're not short at 6. Hodnett could be super but it's a big ask to assume he'll be first team for a while. Jod is an 8 naturally but I think could be suited to 7.
Could definitely see a space for a top level 7

Salanoa is a good signing for Munster and this is a better move for him than the Connacht one that did the rounds. The talent is there but he's very raw. He got a fair amount of gametime this season but that's as much to do with injuries as anything else. In reality any aspiring Leinster thghthead whth serious ambition is going to have to look elsewhere for the time being with Furlong and Porter in place. For someone like him who's very much a work in progress it might as well be now.

I'd much rather keep Connors here though, at the very least until Leavy is back on a rugby pitch. Don't see why Munster would particularly need him, between Cloete, JOD, TOD there's more than enough options, and that's befoee you consider the various young Munster backrowers who need gametime. It's the last position I'd be looking at if I were you guys. It's hard to see how he'd get more time there than he's getting here either.

Was shocked t see Aungier leave also though.
Connors is just a rumour as I said it unlikely we need him. Yes if he was here he would make a serious impact but I think Hodnett will be pushed. Jacko is not a 7 but will fill in there as well as TOD.
Also can see Tadgh Beirne playing often at 6 too and POM playing some 7. Again it will all depend on balance.

I see Damian DeHalstead has completed his quarantine and is in Ireland.

He's heard about Summers in Kilkee and couldn't wait to get here I suppose. He couldn't play the season even if it did hypothetically resume though from what I understand.

The 42 seem to think they would be allowed play and say a decision is expected to be made tomorrow.
