A Political Thread pt. 2

Its a bit frustrating how much the press aren't talking about this.

Rogan had Tulsi Gabbard on yesterday.
A very good listen - quite damning indictment of not only the state of US politics, but the Democrats as well.

She'll never get anywhere disliked by all prominent factions of the Democrats, she'd basically viewed as some degree as the democratic Trump except the radical progressives don't like her at all for her history and establishment democrats don't like her either for obvious reasons. It does give her an ability to say what she likes though but not a voice that should be considered authroative as opposed to an AOC who could in a number years make a legitimate run at candidacy.

Depends what you define as authoritative... If you define it as politically significant in the long term then you are right, but if you see it as an authoritative commentary on the state of American democracy without being tied down, then it would be hard to find someone as authoritative

Authorative as in politically significant or having any influence whatsoever. She seams to sell well to center-right over here in what she has to say but as noted has been firmly rejected by the left. As most would agree that America way to much to the right and she's a center candidate there I'm unsure she'd be leading them in the right direction.

The democrats have a way more complex problems they don't need to lurch rightwards to court Republican voters they need to move the overton window back towards them. This means somehow no longer demonising of moderately left wing views like socialised healthcare.

No real sympathy for the fishing industry (at least the Brexit supporting ones). All this was warned about prior to the referendum and described as Project Fear.

None of the big media is covering it to such an extent but it has been mentioned with people ultimately blaming the EU.

Take Sammy Wilson MP who dismissed food shortages in Northern Ireland as Project Fear and said people should just go to the chippy. Now he is claiming that Brexit is causing food shortages (or the NI Protocol) and blames it on Remainers who voted for the deal because it was that or No Deal.

No sympathy whatsoever. It's not like people weren't warning them, they just refused to listen. They lived in the land where unicorns fart rainbows and would not let a drop of reason sink into their heads. In what world do these people convince themselves that the single largest trading area in the world would be beholden to us for fishing or anything? Do these idiots even realise the EU has more fishing grounds than the UK?

It was clear as day to anyone that the EU would not bend over backwards and it was pointed out countless times it would be a difficult fight even with both parties having good intentions. The Brexit loonies destroyed any good faith by blaming the EU for anything and everything and making pathetic comparisons to the nazis. But nope, project fear project fear, just keep repeated project fear. Do not let inconvenient truth permeate the Brexit bubble.

Now he is going "Oh please" over Moggs ridiculous rhetoric? Join the club, the slimy toerag has had the rest of us cringing for far longer and I bet people like were on the sidelines going "haha oh you so funny Moggy! You showed em! Up Britain!"

Welcome to the world where actions have consequences and where mindless optimism completely detached from reality is no shield.

"If that is confirmed, it won't surprise me at all because Joe Biden is anti-Brexit. Joe Biden is pro-the European Union. Joe Biden is pro-the Irish nationalist cause."

I loved this quote from Garage on it. Three positions better than anything you've stood for in your miserable life ya ****.

Loyalists have held talks with the Northern Ireland Office (NIO) about the Irish Sea border and any threat it may represent to the Union.

The 90-minute meeting was described as "forthright and hard-hitting", with four NIO officials told of the "anger on the streets" in loyalist areas.

The delegation from the Loyalist Communities Council (LCC) included Winston Irvine, Jimmy Birch, Robert Williamson and David Campbell.

The LCC is an umbrella organisation representing loyalist groups including the UVF, UDA and Red Hand Commando,

Perhaps the discussion happened because of:

Police are probing a sinister threat made to employees working at Northern Ireland's Border Control Ports.

The investigation was launched after graffiti warning that "all border post staff are targets" appeared in Larne.

It prompted officials at the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) to alert the operators of the facilities at Larne, Belfast and Warrenpoint.
