A Political Thread pt. 2

welp

so now Wall Street bad cause they are considering long term affects of global warming on companies

The rot in the Republican party is deep and worrying, this is no longer just about political differences, it's a complete disdain for the law and democratic processes. Political opponents are no longer people who have different ideas about how the country should be run, they are an enemy who must be beaten by all means necessary. I know the word "fascist" is thrown around easily but many Republicans are displaying autocratic tendencies and sympathies.

So the US government seems pretty unhappy with the possibility of Britain taking unilateral action on the Ireland issue... We've alienated the largest market in the world and are now ******* off the second largest. How on earth do we intend to have a "global Britain" when it seems the nationalists have decided that Brexit means we should now be sticking 2 fingers up to the rest of the world, acting like international agreements and obligations mean nothing to us, acting like we can do whatever the hell we want and somehow expect good trade deals and global support out of this!?

Still waiting for Brexiters to own this fuckup rather than blaming anyone and everyone except themselves. Genuinely amazed at the number of Brexiters blaming remainers for everything going wrong. You lot voting for this ****, not us, ******* own it.

Posting this purely to put into context when you get guys like Matera making racist remarks and also when you get clubs like Selknam in Chile named after a people who were exterminated by settlers. Despite high levels of interbreeding in South America there are still underlying issues.

was the whole point of Brexit so that you could keep sticking 2 fingers up in the air instead of 1?

It's an interesting debate.
But at the same time when you see how clearly Media outlets take sides in their reporting I wonder if some middle ground can be found.
Granted not sure either can be compared in terms of media attention.

It is very interesting seeing which media take different quotes and spin them in different ways during a trail that you can see the whole testimony in though. Media needs to start taking responsibility in general for the massive amount of distrust they cause trying to pander to certain individuals and supporters.

Personally I find both the whole Wagatha and Depp v Heard a complete turn off when I turn on the news. IMO it's just Indicative of our celebrity culture unfortunately - both parties with too
Much time and money on their hands when it really is a civil matter with no real impact on wider society.

Ok in the case of Depp v Heard - domestic violence issues but sounds like it comes from a very toxic relationship - both are clearly better without the other.

Personally I don't think cases should be reported on until after the verdict. This way the justice is still done in public and can be analysed and criticised but the media cannot influence public perception during a case.

Allow journalists and interested parties access to the courtroom (digitally or physically) and make the average joe off the street wait for public releases.
