Yeah, I don't think they CAN ban VPNs, but I wouldn't put it past them to try
Indeed. For all their posturing about using technology to improve government, none of them have a ******* clue how any of it works.Yeah, I don't think they CAN ban VPNs, but I wouldn't put it against them to try
I think this is a right talking point that's been kinda mangled by the left. Something a long the lines of Asylum seekers have to come by safe and legal routes so we should kick them out. It should just pointed out that's not actually doable.Would love to know how safe routes work. Seen it mentioned a few times but not exactly sure how you can do it.
You are correct in it seems both sides say it. To me safe and legal routes seems very complex, not sure if the Uk's every really done it or if many governments still do.I think this is a right talking point that's been kinda mangled by the left. All of the issues are mostly solved by fast and through processing.
Dunno how national ID cards solves a problem. You are correct in it seems both sides say it. To me safe and legal routes seems very complex, not sure if the Uk's every really done it or if many governments still do.
As for processing, how you process people with no identification other than take what they say at face value, well I've no idea of a solution to that either.
Various reports saying Labour looking at national digital id cards or similar.
But what work is available for them apart from the Gig economy? No NI number, probably don’t have a licenses to ride these delivery mopeds. Or building/sharing their own illegal e-bike.I think anyone being processed should be allowed to work in that period.
Give them a temp NI number? Not that hard is it? I just got one for turning 16.But what work is available for them apart from the Gig economy? No NI number, probably don't have a licenses to ride these delivery mopeds. Or building/sharing their own illegal e-bike.

Obviously without legal license they can't do jobs that require them. Farmhand which we're apparently short of is another matter.
Hmmm, this is what is objected to. It’ll then entitle them to benefits etc which they haven’t earned yet.Give them a temp NI number? Not that hard is it? I just got one for turning 16.
That’s the point, do you think that stops them?Obviously without legal license they can't do jobs that require them.
Depends where they’re being housed. Getting them to farms would take co-ordinated effort. Not sure the Home office have that.Farmhand which we're apparently short of is another matter.
What benefits are they are entitiled to with NI number having not paid anything in?Hmmm, this is what is objected to. It'll then entitle them to benefits etc which they haven't earned yet.
Its really not an insurmountable problem...Surely temporary NI numbers would have a different format so that they can be easily distinguished from normal ones?
I know in Sweden that's the case. Temporary numbers had a different format, different rights and had an expiry date.
Well, state pension but you have to accrue number of years. Job seekers allowance, statutory sick pay etc. .How do you identify and keep track? What benefits are they are entitiled to with NI number having not paid anything in?
They're currently eating and living off the tax payer whilst being processed.
How do you identify/keep track? They do that already!Well, state pension but you have to accrue number of years. Job seekers allowance, statutory sick pay etc. .How do you identify and keep track?
All that NI you're currently paying into the social security pot is in fact paying for the triple lock state pension of current pensioners. Apparently The state is having to borrow/issue GILTs/ use general taxation to top that pot up because there's a big gap between what they owe now and what they're getting in.
And it's not easy getting a national insurance number even when temporary. Especially if you're not here legally and holed up in a hostel. I recall trying to get one for clients who are temporary albeit legally. They have to attend interviews.
I am talking about the funding of the benefits. A lot of which is funded by govt borrowing by way of issue of GILTs. They borrow more they increase interest on it.How do you identify/keep track? They do that already!
And ease of issuing numbers is the system being deliberately obtuse rather than an actual requirement.
What do you need really? Name, current residence and DOB.
Ive no idea what you point about about GILTS are.
