In rugby, coaches seem to feel incredibly comfortable about announcing squads days in advance. Doesn't this really help a team's preparations? The players chosen can be a big hint to how a team plays, so why not announce the team on matchday?

I'm not complaining either. I enjoy reading team announcements. It makes rugby feel more open to fans. I just can't work out why coaches give away such vital information, even for the biggest games.

Neither does Steve Hansen, who insisted on delaying team namings a day after the other coaches.

Just think it's a part of sport. Better than journalists turning up to trainings and speculating, while giving out other details.

It's completely different from football for instance, where the coach only announces the line-up 1 hour before the match. I like it.

thing is it gives those chosen players time to plan things out rather than turning up on the day after a big gym session 2 days before.
