Are Munster "worthy" champions?

Munster may be be boring, but sometimes it can also be pleasant to watch the way they control the game so good. Nobody does it better. And I'm a Toulouse fan...

I was thinking the same of Argentina in the last RWC, at least untill the semifinal. They're playing what you may call 'negative rugby' too but as they're underdogs and not a dominant team for years, everybody likes them.

Without coming right out to incur the wrath of all Munster supporters, I just want to get other fans view of Munster, and their style of play.

Dont get me wrong, they have won 2 HC, been in the final more than enough times and have an absolutely fantastic home record. However, as a Cardiff fan and neutral - they have become one of my pet hates as a side, symbolising everything negative in the game of rugby.

I find it always a test if neutrals love to see you win, maybe that reflects the style you play. Munster maybe champions, but for me, they arent popular champions. If they are playing, you know outright what sort of game to expect, a very conservative, steely but ultimately negative brand of rugby. Before all of the Munster fans rattle off the world class backs they have, only a fool would doubt Munsters success is based on a very set gameplan.

You maybe champions, but you are not worthy champions.[/b]

maybe time to reflect again on that.

So Sean, are you going to try and wriggle out of the situation you find yourself in or be a man and taste the humble pie?

Today makes no difference to the stupidity of his original post. It was always stupid.

True, but no harm in rubbing his nose in it. Its a rule of the Interwebs I think.

Oh god,i laughed so much i had to wipe me self!!
how in the name of all thats sacred could anyone describe munster as boring? has that guy played? does he understand the principles of rugby and the significance of forward to back interplay, the diference between club and cup matches?
you play 2 types of teams.those that have no effing chance and those that can and could beat you.
you terrorise the first and neuter the second, seriously, all good teams past and present have studied and countered the opposition,to win good or win ugly, just WIN.
Muhamed ali epitomised the rope a dope fighting style,he was never a good fighter but a sublime boxer, wear them down then destroy them.
munster are not the most flamboyant team but they are the most complete package, physical, athletic, huge up front with devestating back row forwards and the capacity to explode from anywhere on the park.they soak up everything and anything that gets thrown at them, and never ever give up.
all blacks anyone??? unforgetable..

Fair enough, Munster are the best team in Europe by quite a way.
But in your post you illustrate how they win and that they win at all costs, then highlight a game that they lost.

Yeah, nicely put besides the example of them losing at the end which kinda threw it a bit...and would it be so much effort to capitalise where neccesary?

Best NH record against the Mighty Ones? They don't do that sort of thing in Wales.

He's not on the shortlist sorry pal! And you've already voted therefore you are no longer needed and your opinion is worth nought!! Now begone!!!

OK THEN,CAPS ENOUGH FOR YOU?
The All Black game is not about the win/lose but more about rebutal to the notion that they are boring, that match was all about passion and flair and skill and.....oh god I'm losing the will to live... some people NEED to have it explained, rugby is very hard to play well, simply.when the very best teams seem to be playing slowly and boringly and plainly.....they realy are that good, anyone wonder why England managed to be in at the end of the last world cup?not by being flash gits but by reverting to simple , honest up front rugby that gave them afighting chance,in the end thats all they had,Ireland tried to be flash and got f***ed,pure and simple.end of

I dont know how I get into these things, spend a few hours surfing for free porn sites, next thing I know I'm getting dissed by some bloke called cyril.....only a little attitude my friend,Irish by birth-munster by the grace of god blah blah and all that.
My final word on this subject....Ireland and Wales are currently playing the best rugby in europe, thanks largley to the celtic/magners league and the development this has allowed both associations.period, full stop,do not disagree 'cos thats stupid.end of conversation.

Not surprising. Cyril's a gay icon, specialises in S&M and Welsh angst.

Rock solid, like a magnet. Well, that's what Gav says.

1) They're not champions yet

2) The beauty of rugby union is the diversity of styles, which is largely the reason so many people were furious about the ELVs. I was one of Ireland's biggest critics during the 6N for not looking like a Grand Slam team, but they are as worthy champions as any other Grand Slam winning side, because they worked out a way of winning which is an act of beauty in itself. Professional Rugby is about winning, and Munster are the most effective side at doing it. It was never a popularity contest.

I think having ronan o gara makes things so muche easier he may not have the tackiling technique but he sure does have the kicking power and playmaking ability
