I think the AB's got lucky with that try but as what has been clearly pointed out Aussie could have been penalised at the same time. I also think the Aussies got lucky with one of their trys and the professional fouls commited saving an AB try so it more than evens out. And I also think if McCaw hadn't scored that try and it had been a penalty to AUS the AB's would still have won. They scored the winning try with 6-7min still on the clock, if they had needed to score another one it looked like they would have - if they needed to. Instead in that last 6-7min all they needed to do was close the game out and they did that easily.

man, everytime the All Blacks win other nations fans always look for reasons that the All Blacks shouldnt have won or cheated or McCaw is favoured by the referee or if this happened then the all blacks wouldn't have scored here or there or anywhere, the All Blacks are the Kings of Rugby the rest of the world need to get over themselves and take it on the chin

Yeah we did actually get over it. The rest of the world didn't. It's people from other nations who keep bringing it up and frankly it's so over-used that many NZ'ers are starting to laugh it off.

I've asked literally hundreds of people since 2007 "If you could only choose one of these options, which would it be? To never win a World Cup again, but have the best Win/Loss ratio and be the perpetual best team in the world of all time, or Win the world cup the next 3 straight times, but have our Win/Loss ration slip to a point where we're only the third best team in history"?

The answer is uniformly the same and something along the lines of "Man I'd love the AB's to win a world cup, buuuuut I guess it'd have to be being the best and highest rated team in the world over the history of the game".

So yeah keep using the world cup gags. Like any over-used gag it's starting to lose it's effect through that very same over use.

definitely. i hold more importance to getting back the bledisloe then winning the rwc.
the context in which i quoted nz's exit in 2007 was in the way nz fans carried on about the ref afterwards.
You'd swear the kiwis were a bunch of muslims after the head of salmon rushdie hahahan :lol:

I wonder what the talk would be about if McCaw had tackled a player without the ball, coming in from the wrong side to save a certain try 1m from the line or if he'd played the ball on the ground in that situation to prevent the easy pass for a certain try. Miles more blatant cheating than anything he's done so far, worse than detaching from a scrum half a second early to score a try so easy he would've got it had he gone half a second late. The only thing tarnishing this most dominant season so far of international rugby has been the lack of quality opposition

Yes I guess that's all true 3 years ago. Mind you kiwi fans were going off about something that happened at the time, much like all these complaints from Aussie fans about Richie McCaw detaching early, which is certainly a much closer run thing as far as being provable compared to the forward pass to the French player. Still as I said, that's all in the past. Those most living in that lovely dreamland of 3 years ago are from other countries, not New Zealand.

Maybe in 3 years people will stop complaining about Richie McCaw being the excuse for all losses too, but can't see it. Sure kiwi's complain, but we actually stop at some point. :lol:

There was approximately the same amount of whinging that has come from the saffers and aussies this year and they weren't knocked out of a competition by inferior opposition. The All Blacks may still have won on saturday without the McCaw try, France would of had no chance without the yellow that triggered their first decent play of the match and a pass that was received on the All Blacks side of the defensive line, NFL style. Thats all part of rugby etc what I didn't agree with however was using that game as proof that the All Blacks were not the best team in the world. They were, they beat the so called world champions already that year at altitude then again the following year with a b team

Yes it was forward and yes it won France the game but it does happen and is part of the game. What got me was barnes Refing for the entire 2nd half where the AB's were not awarded a single penalty! Experienced refs have reviewed the footage and counted as many as ~16-20+ infringements the French made that Barnes could have blown for. The whole thing is bizarre for the French to go the whole 2nd half in a knock out world cup game without conceding a penalty under huge pressure from the AB's just doesn't add up, not in that world cup when refs had been so strict on everything the entire tournament - just look at what McAlister was given a yellow for in the same game as an example of how harsh the refs were at the time. I'm sure it will go down as the most questionable prolonged period of reffing I will see in my lifetime. What makes it so questionable was the fact that it was the AB's tactic in close games to win field opsition and win a penalty in close games because none of our players were much good with drop kicks - they are a very low %age play. barnes basically took away the AB's ability to score points by allowing the french to slow the ball down, come off side.

I guess I am over the loss, I'm not over how we lost. It doesn't add up. Losing WC's when we just weren't good enough like 91,99,03 never bothered me. It's ok when the coach sucks or the players weren't good enough or maybe another team was just in such good form they deserved to win or they wanted it more, it happens. But that's not how 2007 went.

That game is still the only test match the All Blacks have lost in the northern hemisphere in the last 7 seven years while Henry has been coach.

Yes, yet this has been made out to be a game where "Australia would've won if it weren't for.....". There are those situations on both sides. That's why most grown-ups take the result as the result.

Couldn't agree more ... I didn't think either side were had the rub of the green with the ref - both sides had incorrect rulings against them, and got away with things too ...

HAHA ... I was just thinking back to the 2007 WC, I was working in Australia ... it was quite amazing the ribbing I got for the AB's "choking again", considering the Wallabies had been knocked out at the same stage

Umm, what does that have to do with ANYTHING? I was merely pointing out that the Wallabies weren't supposed to dominate the competition, and as such, weren't choking in the same way the All Blacks were perceived to be. I know it's a long way up there on your high-horse, but it can't be too hard to climb down, can it?

It's called a heavy handed defence. I think Woodward does it because smart ass attack comes first. I've yet to see him go off running down other nations rugby teams without ours being mocked first. So, it's thrown our way first and he's throwing back. He hasn't gotten personal about posters here, he's having a go back at the rugby teams. Whereas you told him to personally "get off his high horse".

What are we supposed to do, say "Yeah, the AB's are cheats. Yeah, every other team in the world would be better than us if we weren't breaking the rules?" No-one's giving the AB's any credit from other countries and merely trying to run us down, so what was the expectation? :lol:
