Bath fly-half Butch James will have a scan on a knee injury he sustained in the 15-14 win at Newcastle Falcons.

The South African went off at half-time and is a major doubt for the final regular season game against Saracens, with Bath pushing for the play-offs.

"We'll have to see where he's at and what the extent of the injury is," boss Steve Meehan told BBC Radio Bristol.

Joe Maddock went off early in the second half at Falcons as a precaution to protect a tight hamstring.

Meehan is hopeful full-back Nick Abendanon will be back fit for the visit of Saracens and is confident centres Shaun Berne and Alex Crockett will be back in contention.

"People are competing for spots and putting up their hands. It may come down to how well they train as to see who gets in the side," he added, after seeing Bath come back from 14-0 down to seal a vital win that pushed his side back into a play-off spot.

And there's me thinking he was only subbed because he was playing like a donkey.

hopefully he will be fit, but if he plays a shocker like he has done (at least in front of the posts) over the last 2 games, although at leicester it was only his kicking at fault, then i would be happy to see davis/berne to come in to replace him.

But great news however for any other player not wanting a swinging forearm to the face.
