Best Nightclubs You Have Been To

To be honest, I think nightclubs are cack. Music's too loud, the beer's overpriced, you haven't got enough space to swing a cat and there's always some bellend who wants to start a fight or spike your drink. Would much rather go to a gig if I want that lot and not worry about the scraps or my drink being interfered with.

Now pubs stay open until 1am I have absolutely no reason to use clubs any more.

Feel the same Mite. Very rarely go to any nightclubs anymore, although I do end up at a few here in uni, boud to! Nothing good in Lincoln though, and Aber was worse.

When I'm at home in Aber, tend to just wonder the pubs till 4am (as quite a few are still open).

Would still like to go to a propper club where the sound system is half decent and doesn't deafen you with piercing highs, muffled lows, and no mids whatsoever, and see a propper DJ at work. High Contrast at the Engine Shed here in Lincoln was quite good for that, Bass was just rediculous (in a good way), and vibrated you'r soul even the other side of the venue 80m away. But they brought a propper system in for that night.

I'm not really a big fan of nightclubs or British nightclubs as they usually play either crappy dance or endless, endless, endless endless, endless, endless endless, endless, endless endless, endless, endless endless, endless, endless endless, endless, endless endless, endless, endless cheese.

But you go abroad and you see what its all about. The best nightclub I ever went to was just outside of Roppongi in Tokyo, Japan. Roppongi by the way is a nice and upmarket area by day but a total dump by night. Charles might have a better idea of what it looks like now as he lives out there but in 2006 Roppongi's clubs (Gas Panic, etc) complete with the drunken gaijin mooning on the street and kebab vans reminded me of a normal night out in any British or Irish inner city on a Friday night.

This was different. Myself and a few mates I had met while backpacking around Japan went out to Roppongi and after deciding that Roppongi was crap, decided to head to this place called "Space Lab Yellow" or just "Club Yellow" and so we headed down this road and bumped into these japanese guys who were hanging around outside this Lawsons corner shop who decide to help us find the place cheerfully and become our drinking buddies. We get to this block which looked like a residential block but we went down into the basement, paid Y500 and bang! Straight into this place with seperate bar and dance floor areas which this consistent neon and industrial look. Basically the place was based on the legendary Hacienda nightclub in Manchester. The bar area was chilled out and quiet while the dance floor boasted one of the best sound systems in Tokyo and some of the best DJs visted here in a regular basis. There was a live DJ and he was absolutely superb, the DJ area was on dancefloor level but the kit inside was immense. It was way more than what was needed to be honest. Awesome place.

Anyway between dancing there and drinking in the bar we also had other services. This place had hair stylists on call to sort out your hair if it gets messed up. SO naturally yours truly had to give it a go.

All in all it was a phenominal experience. So phenominal, all I remember after the haircut was getting drunk on Suntory whisky, rushing out because I swore blind that it was 11:30PM and it was London and I had to catch the last tube home!!! Then I wake up 11am in a massage chair in a private booth of Roppongi's premier Internet cafe.

"..uh..what..?"
"Okay...uh...er...wallet...passport...money...hair...eyebrows..."
"...what is that bloody smell? Uuurrgh....okay...focus...why can't I focus?!?!"
"...erm...kidneys...meat & two veg...clothes...shoes...now..where the bloody hell am I?!"
"..okay I'll just look at this window and...oh...oh ****...I'M STILL IN BLOODY ROPPONGI! NOOOO!"

Epic night.

club, night, city... and why it's so sick. Go.[/b]

I adore such life: sleepless nights, coolest music, girls, and complete take-off

Cool

I have been in several Discos'' in Turkey but their music sucks

One of the Best clubs we have in Tbilisi is NightOffice

Dj Linus, Troy Pearce, Sean Tyass and other giants spinned there

I like Minimal and I dream to land in Berlin and London clubs

Cheers

TAO Night Club, Las Vegas Nevada, August 2009
The night we were there fell second only to P-Diddy's infamous White Party as the biggest party of the weekend as rated by E! Entertainment. It was cool.

I too prefer pubs. We have some nice ones here in Dallas. The only problem with pubs in the US is they are over-priced as they are trying to recreate what you have naturally there in the British Isles. We celebrated NYE at a pub called The Londoner. Good Times.

I went to Club Rain(?) on the main strip in a casino full of running water. That club was epic.

If you're looking to party your ass off, vegas is the place. There are so many awesome clubs there: Pure, Tao, Rain, LAX just to name a few.

I find pubs are great for some nights out but they don't stay open late enough. There comes a stage in a night when you've had enough to drink but want to stay out, and dancing seems like the best option. CLubs are good for this.

I personally hate normal nightclubs - where you have to wear a shirt, pay £5 for a bottle of **** beer and listen to godawful chart music like mozletoff and journey all night.

However, there are ones that play proper music - as in stuff actually worth dancing to. These clubs tend not to snob around on dress codes. They don't attract rich arabs and daddy's boys just looking to buy their way into the pants of a generic blonde with a fake tan.

The first of these that I've been to is Fabric, in Faringdon, London. It holds over 1500 people across 3 rooms. Friday nights is fabriclive, which attracts the biggest names in drum n bass, dubstep, and other urban music genres. I've seen just about anyone big in dnb there, along with Dizzee Rascal, Newham Generals, Foreign Beggars, DJ Premier, Plastic Little, Sway, etc. But drums is where its at - to my mind there is no better genre to get you jumping around than dnb, especially played from the fantastic soundsystem at Fabric where the bass vibrates through the floor and into your body. No one cares if drinks are expensive (LDN prices anyway) because you're either drunk before or get up on something else.

Another excellent one - Matter, Greenwich, London, is absolutely awesome. It's located in the Millennium Dome and was designed to fit over 2500 people, so it's huge. There's 3 floors, all focussed around the main stage, which has the best soundsystem I've ever heard. The other floors have good areas to chill out away from the dancefloor too, plus there's a massive second dancefloor off in another room to the side. It was set up by the owners of Fabric, making it inevitably good, and if you go there on a night with a tight lineup - it's always going to be SICK.

in Ibiza is amazing too. It's the biggest club in the world; everyone there is in an amazing party mood because its Ibiza; there's a great garden/ seating area outside as well. Plus I saw Tiesto there. Absolutely awesome.

Amnesia in Ibiza is another incredible club - its size, the light and video shows, and the fact that there's dancers who pop up everywhere not wearing many clothes. Completely different to normal clubs.

Hidden in Vauxhall, London. It hosts a night called Planet Angel every few months which has to be the trippiest night out in London. The top floor has lego sets and plasticine to play with, there's luminous and flourescent lights pens to grafitti the wall with, there's 2 rooms playing anything good and trippy, and the crowd are all young ravers or old ravers from the late 80s who never grew up. Great experience, provided you're on something.

Other good (but not great) clubs I've been to are Cabaret Voltaire and Bongo, both being dnb/ reggae/ dubstep clubs in Edinburgh. However they're on the small side.

+1000 on those two ones, they're awesome.

My all-time favorite is the Pacha, in Marrakech, Morocco. It's absolutely huge with so many different atmospheres, you can get crazy on disco, or chill out with some badass US rap. I think there's even a room with folkloric music which really makes you wanna dance.
And the drinks are much cheaper than in Paris so it's really great.

There are some great ones in Paris too, but drinks will always cost you one of your balls so I barely go there anymore. I mainly go to bars like l'Orange Mécanique or L'UFO, in the famous rue Jean Pierre Timbaud, which have remained very cheap and are filled with beautiful french girls.

If you want to watch rugby, you have to go to the rue des Canettes or rue Princesse, near the St Sulpice church, in the St Germain des Prés quarter. Plenty of good bars there. Beer will not be cheap but the atmosphere, particularly during the 6N is absolutely awesome.
