Cambridge game abandoned

  1. Cambridge V Redruth

"IT WAS a game of one half at Cambridge Rugby Club on Saturday after thieves raided the players' dressing rooms and stole items worth thousands of pounds.

Outraged visiting Redruth players refused to take to the field for the second half after finding audacious crooks had made off with four wedding rings, seven iPods, a gold chain, cash and mobile phones.

Despite Cambridge chairman Jerry Otter's offer to reimburse the visitors for the stolen items if they completed the match - which Cambridge were leading 30-0 - the Cornish team decided not to return to the pitch."

What will happen there then? Will the game be awarded to Cambridge? Anyone know the ground, is it dodgy?

  3. Shame to hear about that - one of the clubs I played for when I lived in England had a similar problem, probably because our club house backed on to an extremely unpleasant council estate!

We had an ammo box for all the valuables... perhaps Cambridge should take a leaf out of their book!

Christ, No wonder that they didn't return to the field after that happening.
