Cardiff Blues have signed Aled Brew and Richard Mustoe from rivals the Ospreys.

Wing Brew, 21, rejoined the Ospreys ahead of the 2007-2008 season after spending the previous season on loan with the Newport Gwent Dragons.

Mustoe, like Brew a winger, also made 19 appearances for the Dragons this season on a season-long loan.

Blues chief executive Robert Norster said: "Both Aled and Richard are quality Welsh players who will give us options behind the scrum."

Norster added: "These signings are sure to strengthen the competition for places and provides us valuable strength in depth as we aim to build on the improvements we have seen this season."

The pair follow Wales back Ceri Sweeney in pledging their futures to the Arms Park, after last week's announcement that the fly-half has agreed to switch from the Dragons.

Brew has represented Wales at Under-16, U18 and U21 levels, as well as appearing for Wales Sevens.

He was called into Wales' squad for the 2007 RBS Six Nations, making his senior debut as a replacement in the match against Ireland.

Brew was also named as part of the squad for the two-Test tour of Australia in May 2007; gaining his second cap in the second Test defeat in Brisbane.

Nice to see we've signed some decent players, takes a bit of the edge of signing Sweeney. Not sure why they;ve signed them, as we've already got Tom James and Jamie Roberts, as well as Czekaj coming back next season. Then again, Selley and MacLeod are both going, so if Blair gets injured, we have the option of a pretty big and powerful back 3, with Tom James at 11, Aled Brew at 14 and Jamie Roberts at 15.
