Cardiff Blues v Ulster

Both sides have looked poor so far and will be looking to put that right this evening.

Ulster's record in Wales in dismal but there's an opportunity to put that right against a Blues side that has started poorly. Ulster were no great shakes against the Scarlets but their second half performance was much improved and something for Williams to build on.

There's 2 changes in the forwards for Ulster, David Pollock comes into the back row with Kieran Dawson missing out and the injured Carlos Del Fava is replaced by Ryan Caldwell.

Dai Young has made 9 changes from the side crushed by the Ospreys with 4 changes in the backs and 5 in the forwards.

Tough match in the circumstances for the Blues but the win is there for the taking.

Cardiff Blues: Ben Blair; Leigh Halfpenny, Jamie Robinson, Gareth Thomas, Chris Czekaj; Nicky Robinson, Darren Allinson; Gethin Jenkins, T Rhys Thomas, Gary Powell, Bradley Davies, Paul ***o (capt), Maama Molitika, Martyn Williams, Mark Lewis.
Replacements: John Yapp, Gareth Williams, Scott Morgan, Andy Powell, Jason Spice, Ceri Sweeney, Jamie Roberts.

Ulster: Schifcofske; Trimble, Cave, Dewey, Nagusa; Wallace, Boss; J. Fitzpatrick, Best, Botha, Caldwell, O'Donoghue, McCullough, Pollock, Diack.
Replacements: Brady, Court, Dawson, Anderson, Willis, O'Connor, Cunningham.

Dai Young lives to Dai another day after getting out of jail.

Good try by Best by the way..

I think we were very lucky last night and if Ulster had scored from the interception it would have been good night! Nicky Robinson was very poor and he just isnt really up to it at the highest level. Im also still not convinved by Czezkai, just seems so indecisive. As for Dai, he is saved for now, although the boos at half time should be a small warning.

Sweeney certainly looks a better option for the Blues in fairness.

Williams though definitely has work to do on Ulster's discipline, it's been a glaring weakness so far.

alot of respect for chekaj, but he's way of the mark in terms of game time and confidence needs to go back and play for the rfc side for a while. tactically poor we manged to play a kicking game without a chase which i think is quite special! cliche of the post : its a marathon not a sprint.
