Dan Carter has been ruled out of the Crusaders' Super Rugby match against the Western Force in Perth on Saturday with a hamstring strain.
In his absence Tyler Bleyendaal will start at first five-eighth for the third week in a row.
The Crusaders confirmed today that Carter, who missed their tour matches against the Sharks and Stormers because of paternity leave, is returning to Christchurch to help rehabilitate his injury.
Bleyendaal had no trouble controlling the Crusaders back line against the Sharks last weekend but Dan Carter's goal kicking was sorely missed.
The Crusaders are now looking thin at first-five with Tom Taylor already ruled out of this weekend's match and also on his way back to Christchurch.
Taylor injured his medial knee ligament ahead of last week's match against the Sharks in Durban.
Meanwhile, hooker Corey Flynn will be fit to play after he withdrew from the Sharks match because of a scratched eye.
Codie Taylor, who was rushed to South Africa to provide cover for Ben Funnell, has been sent back to Christchurch.
