Veteran All Blacks lock Chris Jack has re-signed with the New Zealand Rugby Union until 2011.

Jack, who left New Zealand rugby after the failed 20007 World Cup campaign to link with English club Saracens, has given himself a chance to be involved in the next four-yearly tournament in New Zealand.

The 67-Test veteran will rejoin the Crusaders from next year and is likely to be aligned with the Tasman union before then, although that is yet to be confirmed and he will not contest this year's Air New Zealand Cup.

New Zealand Rugby Union general manager professional rugby Neil Sorensen said the signing was an excellent outcome for New Zealand rugby.

"We're rapt to have a player like Chris back with all his experience. It's great for our depth, he's eager and highly motivated," Sorenson said.

Jack joins five-eighth Luke McAlister in returning to New Zealand from the English game. McAlister will return to New Zealand in June after ending his stint with Sale and is likely to link with the All Blacks in either the June Tests against France and Italy -- if injuries strike key players -- or in the subsequent Investec Tri Nations.

I am excited to see Chris Jack rejoin New Zealand and hope he makes the All Blacks for next year and plays in the Rugby World Cup. I am pleased some great Kiwi's are returning home to finish off their careers.

I'm not really that concerned over NZ's locking stocks to make me think "Aw just what we need" type deal. Got great young talent coming through the ranks. But still great to have him back and keep our talent pool on max mwehehe

He has done pretty well at Saracens and has definitely enjoyed his time here, word (from our end) is that he wanted to head back and mentor the next generation.

From what I heard when he joined Sarries he said he never wanted to/was resigned to the fact that he would never play for NZ again. What changed?

A consortium who have stakes in the Vodacom Blue Bulls and Mr Price's Sharks bought a 50% share of Saracens. Edward Griffiths has been drafted in as CEO and has been on the Unofficial Saracens supporters forum ever since drumming up support.

That said, there have been some serious PR gaffes and "owner" Nigel Wray has been keen to make sure that the 50/50 relationship stays at that.

Sadly, Mr Price was not availible for comment :(
