Well, okay. But you know Woodcock is a LH prop and not a TH? And that Rokocoko only ever played 13 for Bayonne, two years after leaving New Zealand...and Colin Meads was good but surely he'll have a hard time both starting and being in the reserves...

You're right mate, I edited my post !

I didn't know if I could put Rokocoko as 13 as he was an AB wing but who else ? Conrad Smith ?

I didn't put Howlett in the starting XV as I don't like his face :) and Jeff Wilson is not too bad !

That's not far away from my AB 15. I just picked players from the professional era as it's easier to compare their relative strengths. I'd go with:

1. Tony Woodcock
2. Sean Fitzpatrick
3. Carl Hayman
4. Brad Thorn
5. Ian Jones
6. Jerry Collins
7. Richie McCaw
8. Zinzan Brooke
9. Justin Marshall
10. Daniel Carter
11. Jonah Lomu
12. Tana Umaga
13. Conrad Smith
14. Jeff Wilson
15. Christian Cullen

16. Keven Mealamu
17. Olo Brown
18. Craig Dowd
19. Chris Jack
20. Kieran Read
21. Byron Kelleher
22. Andrew Mehrtens
23. Joe Rokocoko

24. Andrew Hore
25. Greg Somerville
26. Robin Brooke
27. Jerome Kaino
28. Michael Jones
29. Carlos Spencer
30. Frank Bunce

1. Tony Woodcock
2. Sean Fitzpatrick
3. Carl Hayman
4. Brad Thorn
5. Brodie Retallick
6. Jerome Kaino
7. Richie McCaw
8. Zinzan Brooke
9. Justin Marshall
10. Daniel Carter
11. Jonah Lomu
12. Tana Umaga
13. Conrad Smith
14. Jeff Wilson
15. Christian Cullen

16. Keven Mealamu
17. Olo Brown
18. Craig Dowd
19. Ian Jones
20. Kieran Read
21. Byron Kelleher
22. Andrew Mehrtens
23. Ben Smith

Number 8 was a hard pick, as was leaving out Jerry Collins

Wow you both didn't pick Howlett ... He's your top try scorer ever ... Don't you like him down there ?

He was a good winger (I'd probably have him over Ben Smith from current careers) - but other than being a very reliable and consistent winger who could finish well, I personally would rather have other wingers. He may be my next choice of wingers (him or Sivivatu).

I'd put Sitiveni ! He was amazing with Clermont the past years !!!

Wow you pick 23 year old Brodie in a greatest ever team over say Ian Jones or Robin Brooke ? That's a big call .

here ***uslechmakus can i just say that i already made a thread for the best ever XV for countrys (also classic XV) http://www.therugbyforum.com/threads/33792-Rugby-Teams-Country-s-Best-XV but btw those are good teams mate and i do like seeing opinions on the XV

We have been blessed with so many good wingers over the years haven't we

All the Justin Marshall love makes me happy! I suppose y'all can tolerate him just fine as long as he's not in the commentator's booth, eh? ;)

Also love the lineups. Wish it was possible to actually have such a team for real. :)

Was 50/50 on him or Ben Smith at 23 and I went for Smith as he covers more positions.

I like Howlett and he scored tries but the balance in the reserves would have to come first.

In hindsight Howlett could have been on the wing and Wilson in the reserves.

I grew up watching Ian Jones and Brooke play and rate them as awesome, but Retallick is something else in my opinion. Jones on the bench was a 50/50 call also but felt Retallick offers more around the field.

And not one mention of Buck Shelford?? Wow.
Or Frank Bunce?
Sid Going...is the best AB scrum half ever.
Michael Jones is another level even to Ritchie.....

Some crazy lineups going on here....

I was only including players who played during professionalism. I have no idea how Sid Going would go if he played today. Buck is a legend - but as tough as he was I don't think a 93kg #8 would really cut the mustard against today's #8s. I prefer Richie McCaw and I'd rather have an out and out blindside flanker. Frank Bunce made my lineup, but I personally rate both Umaga and Conrad Smith as better players. You're of course welcome to a different opinion.

Sheldford is great but not of the caliber of Brooke and Read for me.

I stuck with players from 87 onwards as this is when I really started watching rugby hardcore so Going is out.

Michael Jones is awesome but not quite as god tier as I rate McCaw.

So many good AB's to choose from makes it hard.
