South Africa wing Jean de Villiers has been banned for two weeks following a dangerous tackle in the team's 31-17 defeat by New Zealand.

De Villiers' lifting tackle on Rene Ranger in the first half of Saturday's match at Westpac Stadium was picked out by citing commissioner Scott Nowland.
He appeared in front of judicial officer Dennis Wheelahan on Sunday and was handed the punishment which means he must sit out next Saturday's Tri-Nations clash against Australia in Brisbane.
South Africa do not have a fixture on the following weekend.

At least it means that Aplon will definately start against Australia.

Ow, I missed that tackle. It seems Sa lose a player every week.

Not as bad as it could be, but definately a spear

Im suprised that biased ******* of a ref didn't leap at the opportunity to give the Springboks a card for that effort..

Wooooo, hold on. He isn't biased, he is Irish.

To be fair it seems to be a regular occurence with the boks these days, I'm sure De Villiers won't be the last this Tri Nations

It was not a great tackle, think 2 weeks is more than fair.

Normal members are like fine wine. They get better over time. You are like a glass of milk. Not much to start with and it only gets worse. Can't you post anything else other than BS one-liners and *****ing about everything?

Not the worst tackle in the world but it's against the law so it's a ban. Fairy Nuff
